Apparently it's pagan black metal. Imo, it seems closer to traditional black metal than most pagan black, though, but yeah, the pagan influence is there.

It's not any more folky than Forest, I think.

That's why I prefer to call it "pagan", I guess. "Folk" immediately has you expect some cheesy instrumentation or cheesy folk melodies. It's just filthy riffs interspersed with melodic riffs, but not too melodic. The "pagan" or "folk" tags are also often applied when it's actually only prominent in the ideology/imagery, and the music itself barely bears any trace of it.
