Chris is a very intelligent guy, he's talking about the over use of the term 'dyslexia'. At least half he people diagnosed with it don't suffer from it. He knows that real dyslexia is a horrible thing to have
.
Someone who was in my year has used that as an excuse since Year 10, and has been given a 3k uni grant to help him with his 'condition'

Not prejudice against people who really do have it, but it is used a lot as a get-out clause

AG 06-21-2006 04:00 PM

Unfortunately, I think you're investing too much into your first guitar. Youre bound to make a mistake, and it'll be like ':upset:'. I am planning to make a very simple thing to begin with, so if I **** up, it's ok.
Thank you. At least someone understands it can be hard to deal with.

Luckily it hasnt realy held me back in subjects, im aiming to get Bs and As in my A-levels and will be upset with less.

I do find it hard to explian to people why i get a bit of extra time in exams, because it makes me feel/sound thick.
I know exactly what you mean- he's had to cope with crap his whole life. He's also dyspraxic (I can't give anyone a decent definition for it- google or wiki it) which adds to it aswell. It's the whole putting down what he's thinking down on paper. And he's such a lovely boy I feel so bad for him :(

PAJJ 06-21-2006 04:02 PM

Einstein was Dyslexic, and he's like the cleverest chap ever.
Dyslexic people are also usually better at creative subjects (it's to do with which sides of the brain work - did essay on it), art/music etc

My cousian has dyspraxia, tbh im not entierly sure of what it is, my mum says though, if his mum, my auntie, asks him to go upstairs for something, he'll get half way up the stairs and have no idea why he is there. Or something, i cant remember.

Ha now with my brother his dyspraxia means that his co ordination is a little screwed so his art and music... isn't his strongest point. But it's weird because he's really good at rugby.

I've also found that people with dyslexia tend to be generally nicer and more considerate than your average person. But that is very general comment on what I've seen.

ChodaBoy 06-21-2006 04:06 PM

That Squirrel guy came in purely for an arguement, don't give him any pleasure in seeing that hes caused friction.

I think im entitled to that, im not sure.

But im 100% positive i have it, my teacher in year 5 thaught i had it, so i was tested in year 6, then in year 7 in my high school, then about year 10, then i had a test the end of lower 6th, all came back saying i had it.

Its not my reading though, its my spelling. That grant is supposed to go towards things like laptops, so you can type work and spell check it and stuff, im not that sure though.

It's odd. Like say he's getting a glass of milk... he'll pick everything all up at once and try and do it in the air, instead of doing it step by step.

Oooh I remember he also has a thing with repetition (no it's not OCD) he like bangs his wrists over and over again when he's stressed and constantly fidgets and clicks his knuckles. And some things he has to do 4 times otherwise it doesn't feel right.

I would say im a nice person.

I do get into arguements and i get stressed easy (but hey, im a nateral red head) but i feel incredibly guilty and stuff after.

Adam will tell you how much of a **** i can be though.

Imagine though, you walked into the kicthen and the glass was just floating there, that would be wierd.

Lord Abortion 06-21-2006 04:10 PM

Apart from when I say I hate something everyone else seems to like, such as Rage against the machine, or Top gear.

...or eggs.

PAJJ 06-21-2006 04:12 PM

I hate eggs too :hi5:

 he's a total pain in the butt sometimes. Honestly sometimes I just want to hit him he aggravates me so much. But no one's perfect :p

Untitled 06-21-2006 04:12 PM

Eggs are rank.

Emily - I bet, is he a bit clumsy? like always breaking stuff, or droping things, i could imagine that being bad.

Your parents might have to buy new plates every day (ok, thats exajerated.)

You're probably right, but I'd have already started if it weren't for this exam.

There's the common sense argument, but there's also the idea that as long as I really take my time, concentrate and do everything properly, I'm at no disadvantage other than with regards to the amount of time it will take

But yeah, we'll see how it goes :) i'm optimistic and very patient

Yeah he's pretty clumsy, he is always injuring himself (and that's not through rugby). It's just funny most of the time. My dad is just as bad- we reckon he's probably dyselxic too but he's never had any tests.

ChodaBoy 06-21-2006 04:16 PM

Eggs are as bad as cheese

Mexican Bandito 06-21-2006 04:17 PM

Eggs pwn all food :)

Especially scrambled.

Phill 06-21-2006 04:17 PM

Sup uk.

So I went to the doctors earlier about my ribs. Its cracked :upset: Which means no exercise for me for like a month or so.

How is everyone else doing.

FVG27 06-21-2006 04:18 PM

scrambled eggs + ketchup ftw

ChodaBoy 06-21-2006 04:19 PM

Yeah, the chances are that when your dad was a kid they proberly had the ignorant view of "oh he's thick" or something.

I think it might be hereditory as well, like in my family i have it, my uncle does, my cousian has dyspraxia, and proberly dyslexia too.

I feel sorry for my kids :( that i have no intention of having anyway

Also Cream Eggs ftw.

PAJJ 06-21-2006 04:21 PM

NA: That sucks :(
Eggs are as bad as cheese
123
My mosted hated food, minus McDonalds - only thing i've ever eaten that's made me throw up

edit: i've just remember McDonalds isn't actually food so scratch that.

 well my dad left school with like 2 (what were the equivalent of) GCSEs. Now he's basically the top of his business earning a hell of a lot of money. I respect my dad so much for being able to make so much of himself from nothing.
