Complete change of subject here but why was MXtabs shut down!! it was my place for TABS! best on the net IMO

PinkFreud 12-29-2005 04:39 PM

there were legal disputes over the legality of tabbing songs without permission. www.ultimate-guitar.com is a good site though.

David_Gilmour 12-29-2005 04:41 PM

Thanks a lot

Glitterati 12-29-2005 05:27 PM

I went to exchange my uber small Metallica shirt today, and walked away with a black Velvet Undergound & Nico shirt  With my tight jeans and blazer, I'll be the indiest guy at my ska show tomorrow.

HendrixDoorsWhoZeppelin 12-29-2005 05:47 PM

i haven't listened to Zak Starkey's drumming before, but someone told me that Keith Moon taught him how to play the drums when he was 4 and that he plays the same as Keith did.

thickasabrick 12-29-2005 07:00 PM

A while back at a party there was this song that had the same organ intro as When The Music's Over, does anyone know who that artist was? I don't remember what kind of song it was, it was more of a hip hoppy type song but I'm not exactly sure. Any ideas?

Boston - s/t
Jeff Buckley - Grace (Legacy Edition)

and The Shadow of the Colossus.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2005 08:11 PM

Hahah Boston.

Anyways my hockey game got cancelled (after we drove 40 minutes to get there) so does anyone want to trade over AIM or MSN, or want me to upload anything on YSI.

Wooooooooooooooooooo! Be sure to tell us your opinions on it.

Man, George Thorogood is so awesome.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2005 08:23 PM

Yeah, I saw him last summer he played for a solid 2 and a half hours and did two encores.

jpj 12-29-2005 08:27 PM

I saw him open for Steve Miller last summer, and he played with him for a couple songs. I forget which ones though.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2005 08:30 PM

Is anyone here into the genre know as "Stoner Rock"? I must say thats what I've been listening to for most of the day, good stuff it is.

jpj 12-29-2005 08:38 PM

I'm not sure what bands fall under that genre.

Woodstock 12-29-2005 08:41 PM

I just figured out how to add album cover art to my iPod, so I've been doing that for the last three hours. It's worth it though.

How?

The Band are cool.

Edit- What are some "Stoner Rock" bands? I'm not really familiar with that genre.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2005 08:43 PM

Kyuss, Queens of the Stone Age, Fu Manchu, Pentagram, Orange Goblin, Masters of Reality, Electric Wizard, Electric Magma, Dozer, Nebula etc. etc.

I know some corny names but the music I like.

Check out www.stonerrock.com for a bunch of free downloads!

EDIt-just erase the musician forums in the url.

Blues for the Red Sun is one of my top ten albums of all time, I love Kyuss and stoner rock is just fun in general. Sorta retarded name, if you ask me.

Gasp! You have no Kyuss?! I shall send you Blues for the Red Sun via AIM if your interested.

Broken Arrow 12-29-2005 09:33 PM

Okay, hook me up.

I accutally have Welcome to Sky Valley, I just didnt put that down.

Apothecaries Weight of Blues for the Red Sun is amazing tohugh.

I also agree about the name of it, haha.

Distant Echoes 12-29-2005 09:42 PM
Townshend and Daltrey always have the right to call themselves the Who, especially when they are still putting on quality live shows and playing good music. Everyone knows and accepts it isn't the same without Keith and John, but it's still good for what it is. The replacement guys certainly aren't Entwistle and Moon, but they aren't slouches either. The Who are still a great rock band and they put on great shows.
Let me clear this up (I knew somebody would have a problem). The Who consisted of Keith Moon, Roger Daltrey, John Entwhistle, and Pete Townshend. The Who did NOT consist of Daltrey, Townshend, and whoever the other guys are. As I'm not bashing on there shows, performance, or members, that line up is not the Who. For Example - Queen is touring despite Mercury is dead, thus my ticket says "Queen and Paul Rodgers". The Who should at least get a new similar name is respect for Moon and Entwhistle (sp?). Who2 wouldve worked fine (I think thats the name of their new album though).

Anyway, are we on the topic of music trading again?

My comps a little goofy with all the music on it since my mp3 player broke, but generally still goes pretty quick.

Seafroggys 12-29-2005 10:28 PM

techinically, Paul McCartney could tour under the name Beatles

dr._feelgood 12-29-2005 10:50 PM

What about George and John?

temporary 12-29-2005 10:56 PM
techinically, Paul McCartney could tour under the name Beatles
How so? If he had Ringo with him, he still couldn't play half their songs because they belong to Lennon and Harrison.

jpj 12-29-2005 11:05 PM

People do covers of songs live without the permission of the person who wrote the song all the time. It's perfectly legal. Only if it was recorded would that come into play, and plus a lot of the time the writer doesn't even own the song, but I don't know about this particular case.

Livewired: I like QotSA and I'd like to hear Kyuss.

Raijin 12-29-2005 11:06 PM

they should... reanimate them... I'd love to see the Beatles, as I'm 16 and all of the music i listen to consist of dead/broken bands

ya dood...
ok ok, i admit it, i'm a classic rock nut. i love led zeppelin, the beatles, the who, eric clapton, the doors, and so on. most of the bands i listen to broke up years before i was born. at 17, nearly every song on my playlist is older than me. but is it just my imagination, or is classic rock experiencing sort of a revival. i am running into an increasing number of classic rock fans my age. at my school (an all boys high school), the school newspaper took a poll of everyone's favorite genre and band. led zeppeling got 5th and the beatles got 6th, behind that rap crap. classic rock made up a large percent of ppls favorite genre. is this just by me, or are other ppl noticing this too?

This is the thread for general classic rock discussion.
Townshend wrote all the songs they perform, therefore he can tour as the Who and it's fine by me. Especially since Daltrey is still touring with him. In some ways I agree that out of some respect they could change the name of the group, but also everyone knows who the original Who were and no one is trying to take away what Entwistle and Moon did.

And anyways, Townshend was never one for much respect.
