Nice Murder By Death reference.

Jom 09-10-2005 05:59 PM

The thing that's nice about you guys are that you're tons more receptive than people in R&M. I've never gotten a "wtf, get bak 2 r&m dood" kind of response from people, everyone's like, "Hey, it's Jom!"

In my LBC article, some people were like, "I want to post in R&M, but people scare me there." That really sucks if people think that. There are only a handful of antagonistic people there, and it's my job to piss them off.

These people never understood/understand currently that I argued with them just to see them get bent out of shape like morons. It got so bad that Jelle had to make an announcement in R&M's version of your "Tell the Mods" thread that I'm not being serious when I argue with them, but oh well, heh. I can't do it anymore, though, since I was basically told to cut it out :(

But yeah, seriously: you guys are all very kind, and shouldn't feel intimidated to post there. Just don't make a Blink thread there and be like DiS BaND r0x0rz mah b0x0rz!!1, heh. Thanks for being more receptive than some of the people there.
Jom, what is your UT from? It's bugging me because I know the line.
Here's the next line of the song, maybe you'll recognize it if you see more of the song:

♪ Everything's in place, so much brighter from today ♪

If you still don't know, quote my post. The answer is at the bottom :)

I often think I'd like to post in R&M as a lot of bands I like are discussed there. However, I tend to find most non-pop-punkers hate Green Day, and my username does kind of mark me out as a fan. So I tend to get, 'Well you like Green Day, phag, so get out of our Velvet Revolver thread' or something. As if liking Green Day forbids me from liking any other sort of music.

I get this far worse in Punk though, to be fair.

jcxstargazer 09-10-2005 06:12 PM

Punk lovers always did seem to have a hate for Green Day (or so I hear).

Thats why my username is an unobvious blink182 link :p

Jom 09-10-2005 06:15 PM

Again, there are a lot of idiots in R&M. Just ignore them; hell, I have to bite the bullet when I'm bitching at people just to see them get riled up. I'm not being serious, yet they think I am, so they go on this paragraphs-upon-paragraphs tirade, and I think, "Man, you're a dumbass for thinking that I'm being serious. Way to waste your time, idiot." You can see where I think this is humorous for me, heh.

But yeah, it really sucks that people think that R&M is full of douchebags sometimes, but look at it this way:

If people are insulting you based on your username, that just shows that they're picking a fight for no reason. "Oh man, your username has a pop-punk first name in it, you must be a faggot!" I mean, seriously. It'd be one thing if you posted like a retard, but I don't think you would. People pick fights there just to pick fights for blatantly stupid reasons.

In short: if you get jabbed at because of your username, ignore whoever's talking. If they have to argue at you over your username, they're just moronic. Hakuna matata.

Permanent Solution 09-10-2005 06:18 PM

Besides, I still get comments about my username too. :)

This forum is more welcoming than R&M though, I will agree with that for sure. R&M has many great posters, but there's a ton of idiots there too. Not many idiots come here, and the ones that do hide out in the official threads, so it's easy to avoid. The regs are the ones who post in the threads in the forum proper, and they're good kids.

/me catches up a bit

Good points well made there, sir. It's only really a problem (I've had this a few times in the Pit) when the first reply is a relatively well-established poster making comments like that, and then all the n00bs who want respect from established posters are only too happy to follow suit to try and look cool. I hate it when that happens.

Excursions 09-10-2005 06:21 PM

I post in rock and metal whenever I can more for trying to educate people when their is a thread relating to punk or similar. Mainly I just find that the people here are really nice so I post here. Hey, I don't even really like much pop punk.

Understood.

But first, look at the forum you're citing: The Pit. There are little kids there that try to suck older kids' shlongs so that they think they're looked as "cool." This is evidenced by those kids quoting all most all of the "established posters'" posts with a single .

I really don't think that you need to prove yourself to people like that. You prove yourself to people by not being a dumbass, being kind to others, using spelling and grammar, helping the forums, the list goes on. Trying to get e-fellatio from the "well-established posters" in The Pit is just a waste of time, heh. I don't respect any of The Pit's four-starred users, I don't think. Of course, I could be forgetting a few names.

I mean, you do have an excellent point: n00bs want to look like they're cool. But again, it's The Pit. It's impossible to use "well-established" and "respected" in the same breath when describing some of the people there. That place sucks a vast majority of the time. But that's why I really dig Strum's modding of it.

Permanent Solution 09-10-2005 06:25 PM

Man...my randomizer is on a Yes kick. I just listened to The Yes Album, and now Fragile just came on.

jcxstargazer 09-10-2005 06:25 PM

This is definately the nicest forum on MX, but sometimes people just have to snap. For example, if you dont read the Blink 182 thread for a week, when you return you'll notice countless stories, and talk about other bands, a lack of grammar, the repetitiveness of things discussed, and generally the total nonsense from most of the regs.

billiejoe84 09-10-2005 06:29 PM
That place sucks a vast majority of the time.
Well, this is why I don't go on there anymore. A while ago, if it was slow on Pop-Punk I used to go in the Pit to see if there was anything interesting going on. Then I realised I was wasting my time.

Hey, does anyone know why the YSI thread got closed?

NP - Blink 182 - Carousel (Live). Hoo yeah.
