He has good albums and bad albums, like every band does. It's best to just focus on the 10-15 or so good ones he has.
|
Pretty much every artist has a few bad albums.
|
He has some bland solo albums, quite a few actually. But the genius of his great albums more than makes up for it.
That seems to be a trend for alot of people |
I don't understand all the hype about Neil Young...what's he known for..his voice? writing? guitar skills? I recognize his talent but IMO he's just OK in all 3 categories. Lots of artists have better voices/guitar skills/writing so I just don't get him.
Well I think it would be a crime to say he's just "OK" at songwriting. He has a very unique voice, I think it suits his music perfectly (like Bob Dylan) and although he isn't so much a guitar god, he still had beautiful guitar parts for a lot of his songs (Cowgirl in the Sand is one of my favourite songs to play on guitar). Plus he's Canadian and we kick so much ass it's not even funny. Although I don't really blame him for living in California for so long, that's where the hip music scene was at the time. |

It's true!! It's so damm true!! :D |
He's okay to me; I'm not hugely into any of his albums, but I recognize his talents in all the fields he's known for.
|
I'm going to see CSN really soon, hopefully.

That'd be awesome. I'm sure I told you guys this before, but one time in elementary school we went to the IMAX (the giant movie screen) and watched some documentary on like nature or something...CSN did the entire sountrack and was amazing. I was pretty young, I was in the stage where I liked classic rock and all it's encompassing genres, but I didn't know much about it. I really liked all the songs they wrote for that movie though, they were all newly composed for the movie. |
Hey ATM, can you post the last track of that new Dandy album?
|
On the weekend I got
The Doors-Live in Concert(2 disc thingy) and on viynl Pink Floyd-Obscured by Clouds Neil Young -After the Goldrush |

I suppose if I want to listen to good writing I'll pop in Bob Dylan every time over Neil Young. And if I'm craving Canadian, I'll eat some bacon. |
Obviously Neil Young's songs sound better than Bob Dylan, but Bob Dylan has better lyrics.

What do you mean they sound better? |
Hello
Remember me? I can't choose between Dylan and Young |

The sound of Neil Youngs songs, is a better sounding sound than the sound of Bob Dylan's songs, in my opinion. I can't make that any more clear :( |
What do you mean they sound better?
He means they sound better. You know, like they sound better I hope I cleared that up. I got Tom Petty-Full Moon Fever at Wal-Mart for $7.50. I noticed Jeff Lynne co-wrote a lot of the songs. |
That's a pretty sweet deal. Usually all cds costs $15 at wal-mart no matter how good they are our how popular they are.
stupid canadian Wal-mart. |
Hello
Remember me? I can't choose between Dylan and Young
I remember you  How's it going? |
Obviously Neil Young's songs sound better than Bob Dylan, but Bob Dylan has better lyrics.
I think Bob Dylan can sound better at times. I was just out shopping and I decided I should buy some tapes for my car, since I'm too cool to get a CD player in it. I got Dylan and the Dead, The Wall, Surrealistic Pillow, and the soundtrack to The Song Remains the Same. They were all under ten bucks each, so I figured it was a good decision. I also bought a collection of poems by Tennyson. I found a great Grateful Dead shirt that I wanted to badly, but it was over $40 bucks and I'm not paying that much right now because I'm not working. I also found a cool Pink Floyd shirt for $20 bucks that I'm gonna buy soon. |

"A Loan Tonight"
Remember me?
No, who the **** are you?? :p
I think Bob Dylan can sound better at times.
Yea, but not most of the time. Neil Young had a better combo of music and lyrics. Dylan had his lyrics and not so much music. Of course I still perfer Dylan to Young though. I think Blood On The Tracks is starting to become my favorite album of his I gave it it's first listin in about a half of year and I guess I forgot how great it is. |
Anyone listen to the Steve Miller Band?
|
Not much anymore, although I do like a few of his songs (played a lot on the classic rock station)
I listened to Mister Blue Sky for the first time today, and I liked it. |

I listened to Mister Blue Sky for the first time today, and I liked it.
/still has not heard that. Is quite curious though. |
Anyone listen to the Steve Miller Band?
One of the guys that got me into classic rock, I love him. I'm seeing him live too :D |
He's a great guitarist, though you couldn't tell it from his most radio whored songs. Because when he was heavily blues based, he rocked.
|
Hence Stevie "Guitar" Miller. Seriously, the guy was taught by Les Paul himself, could he be bad?
|
He could be, but he isn't :)
|
He could be, but he isn't :)
