Man, relax. This is a forum where you can enjoy music and discuss it with people who are equally knowledgable. Just chill out and look at what you're saying.

Arrakakaka 08-07-2005 08:49 PM

Meh.. School in a few weeks.

I must find a way to make sure that the teachers get a living hell this year
And please guys, don't flatter me. I can't make jokes, it offends some people.
no sid, your problems is you have no idea where the line is, and you don't know the first thing about the differences between serious matters and joking matters. i couldn't make it any more clear, but i know you don't care enough to give it any consideration beyond "how can i be sarcastic about what he just said?" so don't be too disappointed when you realize i really don't care.

That post wasn't about you...

That was in reference to a whole other thing. I was just trying to win Nick's heart back. You were just a pawn earlier, in my clever internet game.

guns_of_brixton 08-07-2005 09:04 PM

I was an onion in your game.

Sid 08-07-2005 09:05 PM

The same with all of you! As I was being spiteful because Nick reprimanded me for my joke thread, I was using all of you! Hahaha!

guns_of_brixton 08-07-2005 09:07 PM

But Sid! I was the assistant secretary!!! :upset:

guns_of_brixton 08-07-2005 09:08 PM

I like school, although this year they f'ucked up my schedule by taking away photography and giving me consumer ed instead .

If school was run the way it should be. Everyone would benefit a lot more.

Anarcho Poser 08-07-2005 10:06 PM

I don't mind school so much, it just gets extremely mundane toward the end of the year.

And I'm diggin' the new name alot more than the last one.

Brain Toad 08-07-2005 10:24 PM

College will probably be fun. I know I'll learn more then I ever learned in High school.

EDIT: 100 post until 10,000

Explain how you think school could be run more efficiently, I'm not saying your wrong in any way but I can't think of anyway to run a school better, I think school is just one of those things that whatever you do it's going to suck..with the exception of some worthwhile subjects and lessons.

1) Better teachers. Better making sure teachers keep up to standards after they are hired.

2)Separating those who want to learn and those who don't in different classes.

3) Doing away with planning classes.

4) Making better cirriculums.

5) Reducing wastes of time, making the actual class time run more efficiently.

Brain Toad 08-07-2005 11:49 PM

I had one plan for my school that I thought was pretty good.

At the end of the year, the students are given rating cards and they rate the teachers they have. It would run sort of like ratemyteachers.com, where the ratings will have to be fair and balaneced and based on things that really matter, like the material, how its presented, and the teacher's over all teaching personility. These cards will be looked over my the adminstration and will help determine whether a teacher gets to stay or not. Students with higher grades will be given more rating power, making students strive harder to get good grades to be rewarded. This way the student has a role in the teachers, and they are the ones who really know which teachers are good and bad.

I also think tenure should be eliminated in the teaching field. It seems all too often a bad teacher will not be fired because they have tenure, which isn't fair to the students.

StruckEverywhere 08-08-2005 12:00 AM

Yeah, that plan totally wouldn't work. There's a reason bad teachers aren't often fired. Where I live there is a shortage of teachers and schools can't afford to keep firing teachers, because there is no one to replace them. And, do you honestly believe that any government ever would put the career and livelyhood of a teacher in the hands of high shool kids... I think not.

really? Where I am there are tons of teachers.

guns_of_brixton 08-08-2005 12:09 AM
No, I haven't been watching it. Is it good?
It was gross but I enjoyed it.

Nick's teacher idea thing really sounds good to me... although if the government tried they would waste money and mess it up somehow. It reminds me of Jello Biafra's idea to elect police officers.

Brain Toad 08-08-2005 12:13 AM

Government always screws up everything.

Only thing we have a shortage of is math teachers, but usually if you fire one, you can get a new one. But if you fire two, you can only get one.

StruckEverywhere 08-08-2005 12:14 AM
really? Where I am there are tons of teachers.
Maybe it's different for me. I'm from New Zealand, we have a shortage of everything.... except sheep.

Brain Toad 08-08-2005 12:15 AM
Maybe it's different for me. I'm from New Zealand, we have a shortage of everything.... except sheep.
Train your sheep to do other stuff.

StruckEverywhere 08-08-2005 12:18 AM

Funny you should say that. Just today I thinking about our sheep. If we could somehow train them all to the levels of a ninja, every nation on earth would fear us.

guns_of_brixton 08-08-2005 12:18 AM

There is a shortage of teachers in Florida... my mom is a teacher and we were going to move there (somewhere in Manatee County to be exact) but I was like "screw that mom, it's too hot there." And we didn't move. :)

Brain Toad 08-08-2005 12:21 AM

I couldn't live in Florida, too many old people and hurricanes. I'm fine with CA, which is exactly the same but with asians and earthquakes.
