That's all I do is listen to albums all the way through. I think every song on an album needs to be given a chance, not just the ones you think are good.

Agreed. In fact, I find that the unpopular songs are sometimes the best ones. I listened to my new Derek and the Dominoes CD all the way through today, and liked alot of new stuff I never heard. |
So the other day, Rage Against the Machine was played on my local classic rock station. Anybody wanna join me in a wtf?
Mine sometimes plays Billy Idol. Wtf indeed. Though RATM are seriously awesome. |
I don't listen much to the radio so I wouldn't know what they played. I like RATM.. Billy Idol too.
|
Radio over plays everything. Thats all my younger brother listens too, the Top 40 pop radio. Music killers, I swear.
|
Yeah its not a problem, playing RATM, but on a classic rock station?! I reitterate...wtf.
You don't become a classic rock band once you released and album 25 years ago. Classic rock is and always will be the music that came out of the 60s and 70s. np: Jeff Buckley- Lover You Should've Come Over |
so is it safe to assume that classic rock is a time period, not an age?
|
It's a genre of music. The 60's and 70's wasn't all classic rock. Dont forget stuff like disco and funk.
|
I've given this explanation many times but I'll do it again...
Classic Rock is a classification of Rock that took place in the late 60's and early 70's. It is not a genre but rather a classification. |
Basically it's an era of rock music.
|
So eighties music (metal) isnt considerd classic rock? Old school? What??
|

There is also a typical sound for classic rock, and that sound is not garbage. I have nothing constructive to add to the convo. |

thats a negative if the 80s are classic rock, what are the 60s then? ancient classical pop? the 80s have their own classification.....80s music....enough said there |
thats a negative
if the 80s are classic rock, what are the 60s then? ancient classical pop? the 80s have their own classification.....80s music....enough said there
The '80s can be split into two different categories. The "Just What I Needed" category and the "Girls, Girls, Girls" category. |
The '80s can be split into two different categories. The "Just What I Needed" category and the "Girls, Girls, Girls" category.
Rap is too crappy to get a category. I would place Village Green, with Wouldn't It Be Nice and a few other songs (that I can't think of right now) in the happy but to me personally have a subtle darkness about them. I dunno if any one follows that. |
Angel of Death is a pretty happy song for me.
|
Rap is too crappy to get a category.
 |
and the "just what i needed" category is far better. the cars were just so damn catchy.
edit: i hope youre kidding jacaranda. i never would have thought that you would say something like that. |
Oh I am just kidding I love fiddy cent.
Jon, the sarcasm wasn't needed. :( |

I dunno, I'm not too fond of Yoko Ono's attempts at whatever she was trying. |
Hah. I'm not a fan of either of them.
|
sha na na sucked. hard. that is all. but 50 cent isnt too far behind. i cant stand it.
i do, however, love jurassic 5, the roots, ludacris, notorious big, and others. |
I dont mean any offense to anyone, but personally I think 50 cent is the worst recording artist to ever live.
