man that is the place for gear whoring... all those shiney unplayed kits. Look, he didn't even take the sticker off the dang ride!!!

I can't get through half a page with those friggin signatures.

Aaron 10-02-2006 08:56 AM

hey jo, what ya know?

anyone know a snare stand that'll go low enough for a 10" deep snare for use in a kit? i want the snare batter at about 25" from the carpet if that helps..

Josiah 10-02-2006 09:00 AM

I saw a guys liscense plate today that said "OCDRUMS", I found it very funny. Big rasied (over cominsation) truck. That's right, if you make me feel small in my truck, then you have a tiny penis.

Dunno on that one aaron, not many snare stands handle 10" snares even.

Aaron 10-02-2006 09:01 AM

its 10" deep and 12" across. big ol 70s Drouyn Brand marching snare. it'll be my new aux outside my hats.

Josiah 10-02-2006 09:03 AM

Oooh 12"..

Hmm most stands should go low enough. Might need to take off the memory clamp or splay the elgs more though. Eh bring the snare to a GC and try a bunch.

HeLLmO 10-02-2006 09:32 AM

well, if it's for aux, you could just get like, a heavy duty snare stand, set it as low as it can go, and then just kinda angle it maybe?
anyone know exactly which paiste ride this is? any details on it?

GhostNote 10-02-2006 10:43 AM

HeLLmO 10-02-2006 12:01 PM

Man, supper at my aunt's last night was brutal.

Basically, any time my dad's side of the family gets together, one of two things happens: They argue about golf, or they argue about soccer. Last night was both.

LoneStarDrummer 10-02-2006 12:38 PM

i wish my family would have soccer arguments. that sounds like fun.

i seem to be the only fan of soccer in my entire family.

HeLLmO 10-02-2006 12:38 PM

that sucks, but it must have been somewhat amusing. whenever my dad's side of the family gets togther most of them end up drinkin' too much, 'cept my dad, who doesn't drink. xmas is a blast, tons of booze, and a 2 liter bottle of coke for those of us too young to drink

Win A Rabbit 10-02-2006 12:50 PM

You'd think it's fun to watch, but it's always just an extension of the last argument from the last tmie they argued, so it gets real boring fast. And since I'm basically the only one who plays neither in the family, I sit there and just listen for a couple hours.

But my grampa brought his accordion last night, and me and him jammed to some old scottish songs. It's tough to improv with an accordion to scottish songs when you can barely hear him playing.
Not sure what kind of setup you were running. Let me explain..

DSL comes through hardline to DSL modem, DSL modem goes to wireless router, all computers have wireless cards.

There is no limit on transfer at all, computer to computer or internet to computer.

Also it is actually easier to hack a hardline network then a wireless one. Depending on how it's setup. Though there's no way in the world someone could hack this network.

First, they'd have to park a van/car outside and sit in it to even see the thing. Then they'd.. well I don't even think it's possible to hack the network. It's simply locked out. Unless someone had some sort of thing that ran through all the possible usernames AND password combinations (a literally infinte number)..
AND..

The network WILL shut out any ID that attempts and fails after 5 times. Not to mention logging it and notiffing the admin (me).

Also here, speed is always limited by the Other Guy. I've yet to see this dsl line maxed. I've seen 6 megs/second off a friends nearby private server. Never seen anything close to that since.
Wireless is fine as long as the router is fully functional and set up properly.

Mine has some sort of low overflow rate, so it tends to just disconnect when too much traffic is going through it, or when too many ports are being used.

I really should get a new one :(

i think this is one of those bands you have to be british to enjoy, because i think it's no good.

They're from the east bay.

Corkofski 10-02-2006 02:02 PM

Same, mine disconnects if i had lots of stuff downloading or something.

Personally, i think wireless networks suck. They only work in wide open spaces. The moment it has to go through a wall, you lose about 30% of the signal.

When i did work exp at the network department at this really large school, the guy who was my "boss" was showing me all about wireless and how it's a waste of time. He had this little keyring which monitered wireless activity, and we stood right by a wireless point, and it was full. We went to his office which is about 10 meters away and is seperated from the room by a thin wall, and the signal was down to about 2/5 bars.

Corkofski 10-02-2006 02:16 PM

my wireless never causes me problems....

i download from the internet and save to a network drive on my pc, and its never crashed...

in other news, i saw that guy in the vid i posted a while back (the jj wannabe). he was wandering around with his flies undone cos his trousers are too tight.

apparantly, he's studying at BIMM... which means hes playing drums and thats about it...

god help us

Win A Rabbit 10-02-2006 02:23 PM

So I downloaded the new Senses Fail album.

I'll admit, I was really into their last album for a while, but recently my tastes in music have changed quite drastically. So I figured I'd give this one a chance.

I read an interview with them a while back that said basically "We're using a bunch of different time sigs and song structures on this album". So I'm on the 8th song right now, and there's been one song in 3/4. Every other song was in 4/4, and every song has had the exact same structure.

Edit: There was one decent song. "All The Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues." Other than that, the whole album was a snore.

Janeway 10-02-2006 02:29 PM

I'm hungry. =/

I'm going to be pissed if we have chilli for dinner. I HATE chilli.

And all tomato based soups.

Josiah 10-02-2006 03:08 PM

I have $3.55 in silver change on my desk.

trysthedrummer 10-02-2006 03:12 PM

Yeah, we have a Netgear wireless mathingy. The connection fluctuates all the time, can get ennoying. However, useful to be on the net whilst being somewhere else in your home.

New Millenium Cyanide Christ may have the best music video of all time.

No one plays air guitar like Frederik Thordendal

elaborate further plz

Sync0pation 10-02-2006 06:02 PM

If i practice stick control with just my feet on ground, no pedals, would it actually do anything?

Berk 10-02-2006 06:04 PM
elaborate further plz
A student goes to a work place and does a certain amount of work there. FOR NOTHING.

And the one today sent me to the office for doing that LAO thing.

HeLLmO 10-02-2006 06:16 PM

that sucks.

and synco, it would probably help you get the motions down a bit better, but i don't think it would a ton with control or w.e on the pedals themselves

Time 10-02-2006 06:24 PM

OK I don't think I'll get many answers so I'm not gonna start a thread. I know Danny Carey uses (or has used) the Simmons SDX electronic pads. Those arent available anymore, so what are some other pads like it? Also, what type of brain/module thing would I need to get? /doesn't know much about electronics

I'm not looking into anything completely seriously, but I think those pads are just so cool. Thanks

Josiah 10-02-2006 06:26 PM

nope, maybe used on ebay or such

Sync0pation 10-02-2006 06:33 PM

Do heel toe and heel up use different muscles? If so, what are ways I can build up the muscles for each? I know CHris Adler bikes a couple miles every day to strengthen his legs.]

I understand speed is about relaxed control, but I want more muscles for endurance and power.

Also under my desk I have a pedal hitting a pillow. Playing on this with my left foot will help, right?

HeLLmO 10-02-2006 06:54 PM

yep, that will help. so will streching before you go out and do double bass. walkin', bikin' etc. definatly helps too, because it strengthens the muscles, which definatly isn't a bad thing.

and eat your oats
