ENGLISH MOTHERFUCKER, DO YOU SPEAK IT?

I watched "Blow" again last night. That's a good movie.

:)

thickasabrick 12-27-2005 04:50 PM

Animals is probably my least favourite Pink Floyd album...it's not an overly bad album, but it definitely isn't high on my list.

I think Blow is an amazing movie. Reservoir Dogs is a great movie. Pulp Fiction isn't quite as good as Reservoir Dogs...Oh and I listened to Desire twice yesterday (once on vinyl, once on computer), and for some reason I think I want to listen to it again! Do any of you ever read the stuff Dylan (or other writers) write on Dylans albums? It's awesome stuff! I suppose on the CD they just put it in the liner thingy...it's cooler when it's right on the album cover. I'm just rambling now. I've been high for like five days straight now.

I got a 30$ best buy GC I might have to pick that movie up and get ripped and watch it. Then go operate some power tools.

Start posting more often. Why the name change?

I just got the new John Mayer album, it's pretty good, although not quite CR related. I also got Mystery White Boy by Jeff Buckley, so I'm gonna listen to that after this ends.

The record stores here in Georgia pwn California's. I walk in one record store and it smells like pot. Great selection, and pretty cheap.

I like the new layout. I'm probably gonna be using it.

Glitterati 12-27-2005 06:20 PM

Blow is pretty good. Nothing amazing, but good.

I plan on seeing Reservoir Dogs soon, I just need to borrow it off my friend.

Badmoon 12-27-2005 06:55 PM

Compared to the book, I'd say Blow isn't that good at all. The book is great.

And Reservoir Dogs is a masterpiece; one of my favorite films.

I lost my old password so I made a new account for the time being. I tried to get my old one sent but I couldn't get the email due to the spam settings on my browser. I got it now, but i'm already logged in with this so whatever. I'll start posting more. I've just gotten into other stuff besides classic rock and don't have a lot to contribute at this point.

I got the new Mayer album too. He is a great blues player. It was gutsy of him to take another direction in his music in this point in his career. It's good, although I liked his pop stuff too.

Glitterati 12-27-2005 07:11 PM

John Mayer is really talented, so I like the fact that he's doing slightly less poppy stuff. Though I do kinda like the song Daughters >.> <.<

MBS 12-27-2005 07:19 PM

Nothing to be ashamed of, I like that song too.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-27-2005 07:19 PM

Blow: Meh
Reservoir Dogs: Great
Pulp Fiction: The most genius movie of all time!
The Big Lebowski: Overrated as hell (by all of you!) still a funny movie though

Birth of the Cool is turning out to be one of my records by him. I've never heard a Miles Davis song I haven't liked. :amaze:

His voice is pleasant enough that he can make most pop songs less common mainstream pop sounding. Not to say that I don't like mainstream music, but he gives it a very diffrent flavor. Daughters is a nice song.

Moon, have you seen "The Harder They Come"? I think you had an avatar of one of the characters a while back. A guy with sunglasses and a big yellow hat (hopefully you'll know what movie I mean even if I got the title wrong).

If you have seen it, how was it?

JonG 12-27-2005 07:42 PM

I saw two things that I wanted at Best Buy, but both were pretty overpriced.

"The Harder They Come" CD was some stupid deluxe edition for $28. Of course, they don't have the CD by itself. Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas was another stupid deluxe edition with "bonus features", that I could care less about. It was 30 bucks.

/rant

I would like to see the movie for The Harder They Come too.

It's my desktop. :)

It's a pretty good movie. Not overly exciting, but definitely interesting. Visually alone it's enjoyable -- cause Jamaica to someone in Illinois during winter is unreal.

It's an Alabama mandolin. It looks like this:

http://www.andersonstrings.com/Alabama%20ALM20.jpg

Except its electric.

I'll post some pics later because my brother got a digital camera.

The key this year was telling my paretns to buy used CDs. I bought my 9 year old brother Are You Experienced? this year. I decided to give him an album with good drums(because he's an aspiring drummer) and lots of catchy songs. I thought it was a good idea.

Jacaranda 12-27-2005 09:43 PM

Okay I just opened up my gifts for christmas:

CDs:
Opeth - Ghost Reveries
Rolling Stones - A Bigger Band, Between the Buttons, 12x5
Grateful Dead - American Beauty
Children of Bodom - Follow the Reaper
DVDs:
Sin City: Recut - Extended - Unrated
Rolling Stones - Four Flicks
Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter
Games:
AOE III
And I made out with 400 dollars and a new car. Not a bad year.

MBS 12-27-2005 09:44 PM

Not a bad year at all, you lucky bastard.

What kind of car?

Also, nice insults in the Vocalist poll. Calling Plant and Morrison "poonface" or whatever is classic..

The mandolin is such an interesting instrument, I always mess around with the one at the local music store. I might try and pick it up soon, not before I get a Harmonica though.

Good thinking with the Hendrix. It will only lead to better things. (Not that their is too much better than Jimi)

By new car, I mean new to me. Its like a 96(98?) Honde Civic. I think thats it. I'm no good with car names.

Ya, how Plant or Morrison got in is just plain dumb, I mean c'mon Plant, okay I can see where you get that (No I don't). But Morrison is just crazy, I'm sorry but I just don't see Morrison as good as a singer as lets say... Jeff, Freddie, Chris or Bruce. I'd love to see Morrison sing Run to the Hills with that much power, or half of Under Pressure with so much goodness, or any Soundgarden song, and I'd love to see Morrison pull off Grace. The guys a wanker and shouldn't be in the final poll. Bottom line Morrison isn't anything special, and if someone can show me otherwise I'd be happy to hear. (I have the S/T, Strange Days, Morrison Hotel, Soft Parade, and LA Woman) Freddie is the way to go, damn that Bruce he was tied last I checked, I will flip shit if Freddie don't win.

Has anyone seen the SNL of George Harrison and Paul Simon singing Here Comes the Sun (And some other song I never listen to) its amazing.
