My Dead collection isn't so much a collection than just their two highest rated albums but hippy posers.
;) I have on this computer. American Beauty Anthem of the Sun Aoxomoxoa Blues For Allah Europe '72 Live/Dead Wake of the Flood Workingman's Dead. All of which I have on vinyl :| |
Has anyone heard Bjork's Medulla? It's almost 100% vocals, with the exception of a couple songs with electronic something or other, and one with piano. I think it changed my way of thinking about music more than I even know

I saw them. I also saw Chicago/Earth, Wind & Fire and ABB/moe. I'm gonna see Steve Miller in August. Wow, all the shows I've been at or am going to are combinations. Jogn Fogerty/Mellencamp Chicago/Earth, Wind Fire ABB/moe. Steve Miller Band/George Thorogood & The Destroyers |
Completely disregarding the "best" or "greatest" albums of Classic Rock, which would you say are the most essential: for example albums that are must-haves for even the newest n00b to CR, or albums that you would recommend to get people hooked on CR. Maybe the most mainsteam too. Stuff that does not need an aquiered taste.
I would say: Led Zeppelin- Zoso (or II) The Beatles- Sgt. Pepper's (or Abbey Rd.) The Doors- s/t Jimi Hendrix Experience- Are You Experienced? |
Led Zeppelin- Zoso (or II)
Zoso is IV, and I agree with all those. Maybe a Who album, like Tommy, or Who's Next. Nothing but good ol' rock and roll, if that's all you're looking for. |
My Dead collection isn't so much a collection than just their two highest rated albums but hippy posers.
I really can't stand any of their other material but that doesn't take away the greatness from those 2 albums. I've tried to get into the Dead but I just don't care for it. I have Wake of the Flood, Aoamoxoa (sp?), s/t, American Beauty, Live/Dead, Skull & Roses and Workingmans Dead and it leads to the question "Why in the hell do I have so many of their albums?" but I honestly cannot tell you why. :-/ Went shrooming today triped hard but I am now really sick. :upset: |
I found a nice music review site.
Neil Young - Harvest Moon
Finally someone other than Livewired and I who considers Harvest Moon an essential album. (I don't even think livewired does, but I do, and he's the other major neil young whore around here) |
Other essential albums:
Dylan - Highway 61 of Blood On the Tracks The Who - Tommy or Live at Leeds Allmans - Eat a Peach. |
Grateful Dead-Workingman's Dead
Pink Floyd-DSotM, WYWH David Bowie-The Rise & Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars The Rolling Stones-Sticky Fingers That's all I got for now. |
did you get a name change? who are you?
User title. Yeah, I kept the Monty Python quote :cool: Bringing It All Back Home is now my new favorite Dylan album. |
Thread = Dead
Why has this thread been so dead lately?
Finally someone other than Livewired and I who considers Harvest Moon an essential album. (I don't even think livewired does, but I do, and he's the other major neil young whore around here)
I think it's a great album but not essential. On the Beach is way better IMO. Harvest has some of my favorite Young songs yet has some bad ones aswell. |
Thread = Dead
Why has this thread been so dead lately?
Perhaps people are listening to new music...? Or perhaps they have got a life? :p NP: Children of Bodom - Black Widow --- Have you guys heard of Love? Ive heard some songs of theirs - they're very good. |
Most people here have Forever Changes, great album.
|
So, I just saw Dr. feelgood live, any fans?
|
I've heard some stuff by them, but they're pretty obscure in some cases; it's been hard for me to find anything by them.
How were they? :) |
