Sultans, is a good compilation, I was thinking of buying it to further my Dire Straites library. Mark Knophler is one of the most tasteful guitarists ever.
Buy it, I like it. I think Knopler's underrated I got these other CD's too, I just didn't mention them since they're not classic rock: Queens of the Stone Age- Lullabies to Paralyze Weezer- Pinkerton Killers- Hot Fuss Johnny Cash- Live at Folsom Prison The Essential Johnny Cash Death Cab For Cutie- Transatlanticism Audioslave- Out of Exile Cash is doooope |
Why is it no surprise that you love Fear & Loathing? :p
OIC...cuz drugs :smoke: I got a 30$ best buy GC I might have to pick that movie up and get ripped and watch it. Then go operate some power tools. np:Sunny Day Real Estate- Days Were Golden next classic rock playing: Ted Nugent- Hey Baby |

Black Sabbath is fucking awesome. The atmosphere their music creates is just so evil and cryptic. Iommi's riffs are amazing too.
|
I respect Iommi, but I can't stand his solos. They're incredibly boring IMO.
I finally figured out how to get movies on my iPod. /w00t |
I love Iommi's tone, it's a huge part of what gives Sabbath that evil sound. Butler is also pretty much an awesome bass player. But as jpj said, the evil atmosphere of the songs is what really catches me.
Any suggestions as to another Sabbath album after Paranoid? Everytime I go to the store (like today, for example), I always check out the Sabbath section but never know which one to buy next. |
I've been listening to "And This Is Maxwell Street".
Jake requested it to me, and it's amazing. It's in 1964, on Maxwell Street where blues acts would come, and somebody decided to record it. The amazon link is here:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004YN9X/qid%3D1135660958/sr%3D11-1/ref%3Dsr%5F11%5F1/102-7022027-2140919 I might YSI later.. Also, Badmoon or anybody who's seen City of God. Is it in English, or is it all in Porteugese(sp)? |

Master Of Reality. It has Sweet Leaf, which has one of the greatest intros of all time. A hacking cough, then this totally testicle crushing guitar intro. City Of God, as Plath said, is Brazilian Portegese (sp) with English subtitles. Incredible film, I highly recommend you rent/buy it if you can. |

S/t has N.I.B., but Master of Reality has Into the Void and Sweet Leaf, than there's Sabbath Bloody Sabbath with...Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. You really can't go wrong with any of those. |
Quoted for the awesomeness that is The Beatles.
I bought a Black Sabbath shirt today. It's and black and dark, with this kinda angel thing on it.
speaking of shirts i got a sweet sgt peppers shirt for xmas
Master Of Reality. I love Sweet Leaf. THAT song is evil.
|
Wow, so I get Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas downloaded and converted. Then it doesn't work on my iPod.
:X |
the book's better.
|
I don't think you're missing much; I was very disappointed by the film.
Yea, but that's coming from the guy who worships Motley Crue. :p I really want to read the book.... |
I loved Fear and loathing. Acid trip scene is very realistic BTW. minus the lizards

does anyone know when pink floyd's Animals came out? Was it before Dark Side of the moon or after Wish you Were Here?
|
does anyone know when pink floyd's Animals came out? Was it before Dark Side of the moon or after Wish you Were Here?
1977 if I remember correctly after DSOTM(73) and WYWH(75) |
Read the book; it's a classic.
Listen to him. And then read The Rum Diary -- funny book.
The title track is such a fun dancing song.
Yea it is. I can see starting a Celtic Rock band. I'm not from Ireland, but I'm 95% Irish...so maybe that's enough for the mainstream not to laugh at me. :p
Did you get it for Christmas?
Not really, but I did get it from a mailing list sent out from the Punk forum on Christmas.
Fairytale of New York, which is clearly the best Christmas song ever written.
Easily. I love that song. |
I listened to some Neil Young that I hadn't heard before. Zuma and Tonight's The Night. They were pretty good.
|
Have any of you guys heard tools cover of No Quarter?
|
I think it's better then the original, yes.
The original is blah. |
I don't like Zeppelin or Tool.
The Cream DVD is awesome. I've been watching some of it this morning. I hope they release the MSG shows on DVD too. |
I think it's better then the original, yes.
The original is blah.
I think robert plants vocals are better but other then that I agree with you. |
This is correct. Third in their series of 4 utterly classic albums (ending with The Wall).
I wouldn't put The Wall and Animals in "utterly classic" category, myself.
I hope they release the MSG shows on DVD too.
Did you go to that show? I remember someone here did. |
Did you go to that show? I remember someone here did.
Yep. I thought the MSG show was a little too. Jack Bruce in particular seemed a lot stronger at MSG. More powerful singing and bass playing. Plus Clapton used the wah on Tales of Brave Ulysses and White Room. For some reason Outside Woman Blues is skipping around for me. This isn't good, as soon as I open it, the DVD starts skipping by the 3rd song. Edit- Yay the skipping is gone. That was wierd. |
I wouldn't put The Wall and Animals in "utterly classic" category, myself.
You crazy.
Yea, but that's coming from the guy who worships Motley Crue. I really want to read the book....
Is that Mingus in your avatar?
Have any of you guys heard tools cover of No Quarter?
Yea, I liked it better than the original, but I don't think either are anything special. |

i was so disappointed when he didnt use the wah in the white room solo. it was ridiculous. and i would say animals is classic. i love it. |
I wouldn't put Animals in "utterly classic" category, myself.
I agree with Ray on this one.
Have any of you guys heard tools cover of No Quarter?
I really like the Tool cover. The song seems like it should be one played really loud and heavy like that. Post 7,000 L. O. L. |
You know, if I wasn't really, really lazy, I could probably learn "The Wind Cries Mary."
|
If I wasn't lazy I would do a lot of things.
:) np: You Can Get It If You Really Want |
I really like the Tool cover. The song seems like it should be one played really loud and heavy like that.
Post 7,000 L. O. L.
Maynard needs to stop covering songs, he butchered Imagine and No Quarter is just as shatty. But I'm a negative Nancy when it comes to cover's of old songs. What I got for Birthday/Christmas: Guitar 265 Dollars I went to Washington for Christmas so I still have all the presents from my mom’s side of family to do latter today. I'm excited, and if I don't get Reservoir Dogs someone is going to die. |
Reservoir Dogs is great. Tarantino's best I think.
|
I like Pulp Fiction better, because IMO Reservoir Dogs drags on a little bit when it goes into Mr. Orange's past, but I love both of them anyways.
I had a dream that I was getting into the Allman Bros. |
haha. dreams can sometimes come true? eh?
i prefer pulp fiction because the dialogue is better and, quite frankly, it's more interesting. both are good though. pulp fiction is also my dads favorite movie. |
But the Stuck In the Middle With You/Torture scene is sooo good. I love that part.
On the drive over I listened to DSOTM and I concur after the 8-10th time listening to it, I still hate it. So to easy the pain I listened to Animals and WYWH the rest of the way. |

Some of the scenes are so hilarious ("Say what again" and "I just short Marvin in the face" come to mind) |
