It isn't all about the producers. Rapping is a lot harder than it sounds. It is very rythmic and it is important to emphasize certain words or syllables, and to have a feel for it. It is a lot more complicated than yelling into a microphone.

Also, some of the best lyricists EVER have been rappers. For instance: Sage Francis, Slug, Del tha Funkee homosapien.
