Apocalyptic Raids 06-09-2006 04:48 AM

probably just the live version

Kirk's Puppet 06-09-2006 07:33 AM

Live version.

It's not as good as their old stuff, but I'm pretty impressed.

Kirk's Puppet 06-09-2006 07:38 AM
He didn't sound awful in the verses, but he sounded like *** in the choruses. And the drumming needs to be changed during the instrumental parts after the solo. Doesn't fit at all. It's not even just bad drumming by Lars, it's just off.
We'd like to call it "Progressive Metal".

It's not prog metal.

Unless you mean progressive as in it's not done yet.

i think he was taking a swing at prog metal

Kyle 06-09-2006 02:56 PM

Is that set list in order?

Because if they went straight into Motorbreath from Ecstacy of Gold, then that's frickin' sweet.

I have the bootleg, it's ****ing amazing, Lars plays the intro spot on.

EDIT: If you have the video you can see a huge moshpit erupt right when it starts... compared to the other EFTS shows.

Nope I had the feeling that ecstacy of gold was just a tape :P but for some reasons that is one of their highlights :) I love the quiet intro

highwaysalmon 06-10-2006 10:10 AM
Well the bible actually says in revelation the number of the beast is six hundred and sixty six.
About a year or two ago the the church came out, not too publically but publically, saying that the scriptures were read wrong and that it's six hundred and sixteen.

Guess what, not everything in the bible is factual or 100% corret/true.

Guess what, the bible has alot of errors in translation (ALOT)

Guess what, a few years ago the Church spoke about a few of the translation errors and the 666 being a mistake is one of them. It IS 616.

pep 06-11-2006 12:13 AM

Why the hell are we still talking about 666?

another thing. 'When someone hits you, turn your other chek, so he can hit you again'
and somewere else it says: 'an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth'.. well what the hell is it?..

\m/-CHeV-\m/ 06-11-2006 03:53 AM

oh, and hey.. i made a new thread about this, but i thought I'd post it in here..

Metallica + support act, june 8th, Arnhem (Holland)

Support acts (respectively):

Trivium
Bullet for my Valentine
Avenged Sevenfold

Main Act:

MetallicA

First off: Trivium started playing a half an hour earlier for some reason, so i almost entirely missed it, exept for the last song they played: Pull Harder on the Strings of you Martyr. Soundwise itw as so-so, energy wise: Superb!

BFMV: So after 20 minutes of setting up and soundchecking they start of with All these things i hate revolve around me (If I'm not mistaking). The bass-drum sound was killing all the other music. everything you heard was the bassdrum. bad soundquality. good band, even live they are very good, but it wouldn't hurt if they'd soundchecked for 5 more minutes. They played for some 30 mins, songs like: All these things i hate revolve around me, 4 words (to choke upon), tears don't fall, hand of blood. The most popular songs of their album 'the poison'.

A7X: EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE! still the bass' sound was a bit too much, but this time guitars and vocals were much louder so it sounded very good.
They started of with Unholy Confessions. Of course this A7X classic was followed by a great applause. Songs like the beast and the harlot and bat country went by. vocal wise, i was very surprised by the screaming, he actually screamed to the audience. some times he sounded kinda axl rose-ish, but hey, i have no problems with that . After paying an hommage to metallica, they went off-stage, and metallica started soundchecking.

MetallicA: The moment we've all been waiting for. Stadium starts to fill up.. Lars tests the bass sound. everything's ok. They kick off with motorbreath.
The entire stadium goes crazy on the first chords.
Setlist: Ecstacy of Gold
Motorbreath
Fuel
Wherever I May Roam
They call this one 'The New Song'
The unforgiven
-----
Battery
Master Of Puppets
The Thing That Should Not Be
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
Disposable Heroes
Leper Messiah
Orion
Damage, Inc.
----- Between the lines, the entire MOP-Album :D
Sad But True
Nothing Else Matters
One
Enter Sandman
Die, Die, my Darling (With A7X and BFMV)
Seek and Destroy

The only song i really wished to add to this setlist to make it complete is For Whom The Bell Tolls And Fade to Black too actually.

They played the entire MOP album because of the 20th anniversary, and because it was twenty years ago Cliff Passed. at th ebeginning of the MOP-album, you see on a great screen a camera going through a studio, stopping at an old school Tape thing, on which is written 'Metallica-Battery'. It starts to roll, and the intro kicks in. after the intro the spot is pointed on james, and he just continues with the well-known fast Battery Riffing. Surprisingly, james improved his vocal skills. He sounds very good IMHO.

During sanitarium a film is played on the big screen, which shows a crazy man, locked up in a room, wearing a straightjacket, trying to get out. fits the song perfectly. Very claustrophobic.

At the beginning i started to get worried about the sound quality for metallica, but it was just...., awesome..

This is a short review of a not-very-well-english-speaking-person, but hey, I hope you'll figure it out! enjoy

Riva 06-11-2006 05:08 AM

Sounds like a good concert, but I would have hated the support acts.

Jev 06-11-2006 12:35 PM

If they had a set like that at Download I will cry :(

rockgod90 06-11-2006 04:21 PM
The new song is o.k. until James starts singing. Then it got ugly. Musically its not bad, but the mans voice is shot.
That's because he blew his voice out during the Black Album tour. It still sounds good in- studio, though.

Jev 06-12-2006 01:10 AM

It's not really because of that. It's more because he can't actually sing that well anyway and the fact that he's constantly touring is putting a strain on it and causing it to sound crap.

Dreaming Neon Black 06-12-2006 02:01 AM

Sup Metallica Inc.?

Been a while. That new song, imho, was pretty bad. Maybe it was just the live performance, and I really hope that was why. I missed you guys. :)

deathscreamingsheep 06-12-2006 02:50 AM

I'll reserve my judgement on the new song when I hear it on the album.

Chev- that sounds like a pretty decent concert. If only I didn't dislike BFMV, but otherwise it's all good.

ghettoeddo 06-12-2006 02:53 AM

ok so i guess they're on tour again...anyone know of any plans for a north america leg?

timmySmi 06-12-2006 03:04 AM

Guys.... Download was unbelieveable, what a performance and what a setlist Metallica produced. I had always vowed not to go and see Metallica after Jason left because I thought the band's stage presence would be missing without him but how wrong was I! Rob was seriously the s*it he had definetly proven to me he's suitable for Metallica. Highlight was definetly Orion because I think iam going to be one of few who will ever be blessed to hear this live to my knowledge they probably are only playing it because its the 20th anniversary of MOP.
I would have liked to heard Bellz and Fight Fire With Fire but hey iam not complaining they played the whole of MOP!

I hope they come back to england soon which they will because a new album is not far off. Can't wait!
