Syd leaving was the best thing that ever happened to them.

clown_phobia 07-01-2005 07:51 PM

Which songs do you think Floyd will play at live 8? And in whic order?
I think:

Another Brick in the Wall, part 2
Money
Wish You Were Here
Comfortably Numb

rivendell 07-01-2005 08:06 PM

-Breathe
-Comfortably numb
-wish you were here

that's what they're playing on saturday

BludgeonySteve 07-01-2005 08:09 PM

Has anyone else noticed that the song Hysteria (Def Leppard) has the same opening riff as Goodbye Blue Sky? Well, the timing is just a hair different, but they sound way to close to me.

And whoever said MTV is showing it, how certain are you?

Riva 07-01-2005 09:48 PM
yea but wouldnt that mean that they arent afraid of death because then they would be saying that death is beautiful and anyone who smokes as much as they did its virually impossible to think death is a good thing
You don't know what the word "juxtapose" means, do you?

I've noticed that they sound similar, but it isn't the same riff.

And my local TV network is showing it, so I guess MTV is likely to be showing it also.

Shazzam 07-01-2005 09:52 PM

I just checked MTV's website, and they are showing it, but it didn't specify what concert it was showing, even though it's probably gonna be the ****ty american one.

Too bad no station I know of is showing the London concert.

VH1 and MTV are both showing the London one tomorrow. They did an article about it in the Freepress.

Wish you Were Here was peformed amazingly! Davids voice is still great.

Comfortably Numb was a perfect closer! The solo's were very touching as usual.

I seem to recall that Syd Barrett was the only one who did drugs during the time of pink floyd, on one of my dvds, dave says how so many people associate them with drugs but they just don't do them.

snorfledumpkins 07-02-2005 07:06 PM

Wow, that was an amazing performance, I teared during that, after seeing it, I felt a sort of completion in my life, I honestly thought "If I died right now, I wouldn't mind."...

vashts80 07-02-2005 07:08 PM

I hate MTV and VH1. They cut to commercial during the Comfortably Numb solo. Here's to hoping the feed on ABC doesn't do the same.

ATM 07-02-2005 07:09 PM

Sweeet

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:10 PM

Is it on ABC right now?

vashts80 07-02-2005 07:15 PM

:(

ABC only showed Money...not Wish You Were Here, Breathe or Comfortably Numb, just Money :(

Flaminghotchino 07-02-2005 07:37 PM

it hasnt aired over here yet.. im anticipating...

guess what i heard for the first time ever today?

Echoes.

ATM 07-02-2005 07:39 PM

^ I wish I could hear that for the first time again.

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:40 PM

I was just thinking back today to the first time I heard The Wall. An experience I'd like back again for sure.

The Moor 07-02-2005 07:40 PM

Yeah, ABC aired Pink Floyd right after Will Smith rapping ... not how I had imagined seeing it but oh well, I got to see them play Money, my life is pretty much complete :)

Flaminghotchino 07-02-2005 07:46 PM

The First time I ever heard the Wish you were here Album.

*Shivers*

So in america they only show one song?? how lame..

Oh well Im still excited =)

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:47 PM

No they showed the whole thing on the broadcast earlier, I think.

vashts80 07-02-2005 07:50 PM

They showed Breathe, Money, Wish You Were Here and Comfortably Numb on MTV/VH1 (actually live, but they cut to commercial during the Comfortably Numb solo)

On the ABC 1-hour condenced version they only showed Money

The Moor 07-02-2005 07:51 PM

Well since we are on the topic of our "first times", I'd have to say my first time listening to Animals was a life changing experience, it has influenced the way I listen to any music since then.

Flaminghotchino 07-02-2005 07:53 PM

man echoes was awesome, but I was kinda expected too much at first, but then after a while a just sunk into it.. and the last like 5 mins... ****...I was feeling very... Emotional like..Like a spiritual expierence.. lol I know that sounds lame but I dont know how to describe really, Im sure some of you may know what im talking about, and if you dont.. Im really sorry..

I'd kill to write music that effects people like that effected me.

Dude, have you listened to Atom Heart Mother? Its another 23+ minute song, and in my opinion its even better than Echoes, but thats just me.

lunch998 07-02-2005 07:58 PM

That's what happened to me too. At first I was actually slightly dissappointed, but then it grew on me.

BludgeonySteve 07-02-2005 08:05 PM

I find that Pink Floyf songs don't have to grow on me. I either like them or I don't (usually like)
