the human equation is a double cd by a dutch composer.
he works with guest performances alot on the latest album a crapload of singers sang: Mikeal Akerfeldt, James Labrie of DT
Worth checking out? |
^^^^ I thought it was one of the greatest albums ever written for a very long time, I loved everybit of it. (I'm talking about The Human Equation). BUT there is one thing that absolutely ruins it to the point that I sometimes can't even listen to the songs. The lyrics are TOO straightforward. I know this is the tiniest of things on an otherwise amazing album, but it just ****s me.
Other than that everything is perfect, great music, two hours of it, awsome prog stuff you know violins, flutes, synths, digeredoo, and an amazing aray of voices. Its got it all. By the way the 'band' is called Ayreon the CD is The Human Equation. And to answer your question it is deffinetly worth checking out. |

Cannibalism of the pen0r isn't cool. Getting bitten is, just not there.
ES IST MEIN TEIL!!!!!!!! NEIN!!!! JA, ES IST MEIN TEIL! NEIN!!!!! [/rammstein] Anyway, Face of Melinda is totally the best Opeth song. I wish I was going to be back in Philly on Halloween so I could see it live... :( |
I have n clue what that means. I've always hated Rammstein.
I should really check Opeth's tour dates to see if I can make it to any shows. |

Baying of the Hounds is probably my favorite Opeth song right now, at first I was a little weary about this song but loved the rest of the GR tunes. I think BotH is more of a traditional Opeth song in the sense that it takes a lot of listens to really appreciate it. I feel like the rest of Ghost Reveries will not have that lasting appeal like the rest of the albums.

 I am going to have to hear this. What song is it? |
I've recently started listening to opeth and i have sl and bwp, and i hav to say, i much prefer sl. Bwp seems to loose me at times and becomes bland whereas sl just makes me keep listening. The aucoustic breakdowns on sl are totally amazing whereas they seem a bit dull at times on bwp.
I'm not saying that i dont like bwp, but after reading many great things about it, i have to say that im somewhat disappointed. |

Damien and Prince of Darkness I'm uplaoding right now, I hope YSI doesn't hate me I'm uploading the first cd now (it's a double cd) I will upload the second one too, if you lik e the first one enough. be patient, I will send it to you email adresses :) |
I am going to have to hear this. What song is it?
It's called 'Mein Teil.' The lyrics (translated into English) go like: Tonight I'm meeting a gentlemen That likes me enough to eat me Soft parts and also hard ones Are on the menu So you are what you eat And you know what it is It is my piece/part (dick) And then on from there in typical Rammstein fashion. I guess they've been getting less perverted lately; Sehnsucht was about 60% perverted songs, Reise Reise only had one. |

In case you didn't know, this actually happened in Germany. A man answered an add in the newspaper looking for someone who wanted to be eaten. The two met up in the man's apartment, where they both ate his, erm, 'piece'. He was then willingly killed, and the man who put the add in the paper then videotaped himself cutting the man up and eating/preparing him. Apparently there's a market for such tapes. |
Wow...
Just.. wow... |

Dude that's sick........ |
Off the topic of cannibalism...
Apparently, Into Eternity and Fireball Ministry have been added to the North American tour dates. I've never heard either of them. Any comments? |
Into Eternity are awesome and I wish I got to see them instead of Pelican. But hey, Opeth is touring with bands that are at least respectable, which is nice.
Now, where were we? Ah yes, cannibalism... Discuss. |
It's Nevermore and the two other bands, so I hope Opeth's set isn't shortened because of it.

Only in Germany. For the record, Rammstein's album 'Sehnsucht' contains songs about: Incest (Tier) Buttsex (Bueck Dich) S&M (Bestrafe Mich) Pedophilia+incest (Spiel Mit Mir) And much much more (I can't remember what other songs are on there. Crazy Germans. /is of German ancestry |
Fireball Ministry is pretty good. I've heard about five songs, and they were all well above average.

On the contrary, I was so happy that my show is going to be Pelican. Pelican is one of my favorite bands, so it's two of my favorite bands in one show. Amazing. |

I've never heard Pelican's music, but it would be impossible for me to take them seriously with a name like that, unless they were AMAZING musicians. And it would be even funnier if they were extreme metal or something. Edit: Oh em gee, I just remembered something hysterical. http://blacktable.com/dorfman040906.htm They actually MADE AN EP and you can listen to one song from it if you click on the link in the article. I haven't laughed so hard in a LONG time. |
Pelican is so awesome.I think it was Kage that posted their newest album on here a while ago. That's how I heard them.
They have super long songs like Opeth but have NO vocals. After a while you really dont see a reason for them.Their music does all the talking. |
Go and find some Pelican if you haven't heard them.
Not only is Rammsteins music gay, but so are they.
Actually you're gay. Congrats on not understanding what the song was about, or READING THE THREAD. I'll check out Pelican if someone wants to AIM me or upload their stuff...I'm not doing Limewire anymore since I got to college. |
woot, I'm hopefully ordering tickets for the Philly show tomorrow (gotta get my mom's approval to use her CC), YES!
|
I never really liked Rammstein. :( Their music always seemed so odd and creepy.
|
Can anyone reccomend some other good songs that sound similar to Bleak?
|
Godhead's Lament, maybe? It's got a great acoustic-y part in it, nonetheless.
|
I don't really think Opeth is becoming more vocalbased, they went through that phase already IMO.
think BWP, D&D, Steven Wilson made Opeth vocal orientated, lyrical wise Mikeal has always been great. does anyone else besides me adore Mikeal's vocals on The Human Equation? /drools I wish I was blessed with vocal chords like that, not to mention his guitarskills
Actually, it was the Human Equation that made me an Opeth fan. :) I hadn't really given them much of a chance before then...I was in that "boooo cookie monster" phase. When I heard the Human Equation and heard him singing (watching the Human Equation DVD with a video of him growling also made me respect it more), I decided to give them another chance...and they're now one of my favorite bands. The whole cast was incredible, though...I discovered SO many bands through that album. Marcela Bovio, Heather Findlay, and Devin Graves were real standouts for me. |
Can anyone reccomend some other good songs that sound similar to Bleak?
There isn't one song that sounds even close to Bleak. Which makes the song so powerful :D |
I can't get into Ghost Reveries.
|
You fool!
I'm having trouble getting into their past work as much as I did Ghost Reveries. :( |
On the contrary, I was so happy that my show is going to be Pelican. Pelican is one of my favorite bands, so it's two of my favorite bands in one show. Amazing.
This talk of Pelican made me decide to download some, and now I can't wait to get my hands on some cds. I would prefer them way more than Nevermore... which is who I'll get if I can make it to Cleveland. |
I have come to the conclusion that I am a bit disappointed with Ghost Reveries. Decent cd, nothing to specail... :(
me too :( I love Ghost of Perdition and The Grand Cunjauration though, but the rest isn't all that special IMO ( for Opeth standard) |
I disagree. I think this is one of their best records. Songs like Atonement and Hours of Wealth sound like nothing they've ever done, and I love that sound. Then, more traditional songs like Baying of the Hounds are some of the best material I've heard from them. Ghost of Perdition and Reverie/Harlequin forest are just epic, amazing songs.
