Speaking of Rhapsody, I saw the Enchanted lands 2 album or something like that in stores. I just had a short urge to buy it because the cover was so nice :p
And to the Dragonforce album. It was a good album...the songs I didn't know from it though didn't seem to stick out in someway :-/ maybe its because it was after 10 and I was tired...oh well. First listen impression, I'll listen to it more. |
That album Symphony Of Enchanted Lands II, is probably their best. You definitely should have bought it.
|
I didn't have enough though. Thats not a really good excuse because I could have just borrowed from my dad :p
The real thing is that I've only heard 2 Rhapsody songs...and because I never took the time to listen to them seriously/carefully, what ever. I didn't remember that well how Rhapsody sounded like. |
Very epic. They call themselves "Hollywood Metal" which is a bit of a sham, I think, but they do have that sort of war movie soundtrack feel.
|
Hmm, I'll go listen to those 2 songs now.
EDIT: NP Holy Thunderforce Thats pretty cool. I definitely need Symphony of Enchanted Lands II |
Dawn Of Victory is the album which Holy Thunderforce is on. It's a pretty good album.
|
I was just saying because you said Symphony... was probably their best album...so yeah.
I don't know if Dawn of Victory was at the stores. I didn't really look for anything in particular when I looked at the Rhapsody albums. Except theres one which they had a ton of copies for...don't remember which one though. I also just listened to Rainb of a Thousand Flames. The other song I have from them. Good stuff. |
Rain Of A Thousand Flames is an excellent song! It comes from their EP of the same name.
|
Hmm.. I need more Rhapsody.
On the other hand, I'm going listen to that Galloglass sampler you did :) |
I like a lot of Rhapsody's music, but sometimes the operatic/epic feeling is taken a bit too far for me. On the other hand, I have a friend who doesn't really like the metal parts nearly as much as the album and song introductions with mainly medieval-style chanting :D
|
I still maintain SOEL is the best thing Rhapsody has put out...
I have to listen to more though, I have that, some other albums, and Legendary Tales. I love Tower...soooo much stuff. Walked in there today, and on top of them having a sale (saved about 7 bucks) I got super special edition cds: Sonata Arctica - If Only For Revenge, or some name along those lines...their new live CD/DVD, both of which come in one package Emperor - Emperial Live Ceremony DVD And the kicker: Galloglass - Heavenseeker OMFG CRAZY BONUS STUFF special edition cd. CD, DVD, poster, sticker, and other stuff. |
Rhapsody are brilliant, one of my top 3 Power Metal acts. Legendary Tales is my favorite album of theirs. Really, my Rhapsody favorite albums list in order goes from their first release (Legendary) to their last release (SoELII) in order...
|
I've uploaded a Rhapsody track to my home page (http://www.theexitwound.com). it's a cover/tribute to Helloween, track Guardians. Also some Luca Turilli, which is closely related to Rhapsody doing the same thing. Gotta love Hollywood Metal. :)
And yes, Galloglass' Heavenseeker Ltd Edition release is CRAZY GOOD. Full concert included on a DVD!!! Same price as the CD. |
It was kicking my *** earlier, though I realized I can't listen to it the whole way through...I started seeing dragons. :amaze:
|
Yes! Heavenseeker is such a great album. Do you have the other Galloglass album?
|
Yes...not a hard copy though.
I dunno, from what I've listened to on LFNAN, I think Heavenseeker edges it out a bit. Though LFNAN has a better opener...classic power metal scream. |
I've decided that I love both equally, but depending on mood, I'll prefer one to the other.
|
I still think nothing beats the song LFNAN though. It's got such a great feel to it, and ridiculous violin. :thumb:
|
I was so close to buying Edguy's Hellfire Club today but I went with a Bruce Dickinson album. I don't regret it in the slightest.
|
How is Dickinson's solo stuff?
I need to pick up Hellfire Club soon as well... |
The Chemical Wedding is really good. Much heavier than Maiden. The lyrics are better, and of course the vocals are godlike.
|
Maidenish stuff that's heavier than Maiden?
Man, I gotta get me some of that... |
The riffs aren't Maiden like and there isn't any harmony stuff, but it's all quality.
|
Eh, whatever works.
|
Hellfire Club is great imo, if Down to the Devil chorus doesn't get stuck in your head, you're stronger than me :D
Bruce's stuff is great, but like Deth said, the riffs are nothing like Maiden. I have Chemical Wedding and Tyranny of Souls and both are very good if you like the sound of Bruce's voice. To me, without his voice the music would really be nothing though. |
Hellfire Club pwns. i really like Rise of the Morning Glory, The Piper Never Dies, and We Don't Need A Hero, although Down to the Devil is also awesome.
Bruce's solo stuff is awesome, the lyrical themes are way, way darker than a lot of maiden's. |
I need to pick up Hellfire Club soon as well...
Tell me about it... I'll stop whinning about the lack of cd's that I get to buy. :p |
The Rhapsody live album looks cool.
|
The Rhapsody live album looks cool.
The Live In Canada one?? I heard from my friend it was nothing special...having the studio albums was enough. |
Yeah, that one.
|
Live in Canada rules, it got my dad into Rhapsody :D
|
Anyone ever listen to Rage? And no, I certainly don't mean Rage Against the Machine... I just picked up Soundchaser(2003) and it kicks serious ***. Since it's like their 17th album, i was wondering if their older stuff is similar or if they have evolved since I know the lineup changed a lot....
|
To be honest, I've never heard of them. I'll have a look.
|
I've heard of them. I think they're one of those old-school German PM bands.
|
Nothing better than Old-School German Power Metal.
|
Damn right \m/
Running Wild ftw even though I think they seem closer to speed metal >_> |

Yeh man, I've been a Rage fan for a while. I only own Trapped! (1992), Black In Mind(1995), and Unity (2002). Trapped! and Unity are both brilliant albums, though Black In Mindlacks powerful tracks a lot IMO. Only the title track is really kick ass. My brother's friend has their entire discography, so I'm looking forward to eventually getting my hands on it :) |
Well, a lot of power metal bands are basically speed metal with higher vocals and fantasy lyrics. Running Wild are still power metal ftw.
|
speed metal ftw
