i request a new lod for the cool people, and this lod be renamed the nerd lod
... but then you wouldn't have a LoD thread which you could post in.
 All I really wanted to know was if W7 was NTFS :P I have windows on a separate partition, but I should dl W7 before the time comes that this install starts crapping out on me Any recommends for an external HD?
My mother has a Western Digital passport which is good. Though I mean she has a non-portable (older) Seagate external which is still chugging too. Kind of a WD whore myself, so I'd say pickup a WD Passport or WD My Book. My oldest external is a Maxtor (which is now part of Seagate) and my other is a 3.5" Western Digital HDD I put in an external enclosure. Which back when I did it saved you like $50, but now the prices are really comparable. Most people I know have the WD My Books. I really need to answer questions in short, concise, and to the point sentences. I just can't do it though. |
I'm about to get one of these:
Cleaned the dust filters and moved it to the floor, runs 10c colder now, my cpu fan quit speeding up all the time
There was a pretty cool guy on Bit Tech who drilled out the hard drive cage's screws into channels, so he could slide out the cages (given about 1" slack in cables) without taking the side off. I need to clean my dust filters actually. IDK If I have photo's of my internal radiator mod... EDIT: None of it inside: Also I pwn teh tetris mod: |

What is so hard about making a Wireless N router that works? It seems no one can pull this feat off. Funny thing it isn't even the wireless which is giving the most problems, it is the internal switches in these stupid things.
srsly want wireless N and still be able to stream movies to my 360 (wired) and PS3 (wireless) as well as not have shit-tacular transfer speeds between my computers even when both of them are wired! My Belkin fails at networking. Linksys seems to be completely failing at wireless N and networking. D-Link is taking it self out with firmware updates which are ruining their routers, but the company says they didn't configure their routers to be reversible when it comes to firmware upgrades. Then NETGEAR, which seems to be the only company who can get all that to work, has routers that like to die in the first year (earliest in reviews I've read 24 hours). |

but srsly lfd, sup did you graduate college yet?
Yeah, graduated in Decemeber. Not very many jobs around though, threw my resume at HP and Intel. Was going to throw it at nVidia but the job apparently got filled which I was looking at. It was a long shot anyways because it was a specific thing which isn't really taught in college, and if some one came in with experience I would have been screwed. |
well at least you're here all day long

sup lod hey how do i figure out if my dvd player is a region 1 or all region dvd player?
If it was sold in the U.S./Canada it is probably region 1. Unless you are talking about a DVD-drive in your computer, then it is some where in your hardware device settings. In windows 7 it can be found in: Control Panel -> hardware and sound ->Device Manager (under devices and printers) -> select drive (right click and go into properties) -> Region tab. I heard you can check in the GUI of most DVD players, but if yours doesn't have one it might be on a sticker with the serial number and junk. If it isn't a DVD-drive you are talking about. |

<3 women
Show them a pick of my gear and they are like, "I'm more interested in why there are cleaning products in the picture." ... idk, to clean? |
There are ways to mod DVD players so they'll play any region DVDs, but if you do it wrong you'll **** it up and it won't play anything...
