Alright cool, i'll have to check them out. thanks:)

Nepenthe 03-05-2006 03:45 PM

I'm looking for anything along the lines of Ulver's Kveldssanger. I am absolutely in love with this cd and am interested in hearing other Nordic sounding cd's. Preferably acoustic (pretty sure that's all there is in this field but just in case).

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 03:50 PM
I know someone has probably already asked this question..but I can't find it in here...does anyone know of any bands like Opeth or Cephalic Carnage?
Novembers Doom as well. Very Opeth-styled.

Pagan's Mind albums...I think they're better for different things. Enigmatic Calling has less irritating vocals, while Celestial Entrance has better music.

Invicta_Veritas 03-05-2006 04:00 PM

I fell upon November's Doom by accident. Very good stuff.

Anyway, does anybody know of a band that is kind of like Six Feet under and Cannibal Corpse (sludgy stuff) but with slightly more intelligent lyrics and a little it more melody to them?

Shattered_Future 03-05-2006 04:03 PM

Neither of those bands are sludge, but you might do well to go with Autumn Leaves.

Invicta_Veritas 03-05-2006 07:16 PM

ill check those out

Mazeppa 03-06-2006 01:50 PM

Would someone care to recommend me an album by The Doors? I've gotten into The End lately, after watching Apocalypse Now and I'm curious to hear some more of their stuff.

Bartender 03-06-2006 02:37 PM

I got my sister The Doors and LA Woman for her birthday, and from what I heard they're both pretty good. I'd probably go for the self-titled if I decided I wanted something for myself.

Sleeper 03-06-2006 07:37 PM

Could anyone please recommend me some albums by Dark Tranquillity, I've only heard a couple of songs and i'm starting to get into them. If anyone could
recommend me any other Melodic Death Metal, that would help me.

For Dark Tranquillity check out the following songs:
Punish My Haven
Mind Matters
The One Brooding Warning
Monochromatic Stains
White Noise Black Silence
....Of Melancholy Burning
((Really every DT song is amazing so you cant go wrong)) :thumb:

Good Melodic Death Metal Bands:
Old In Flames
Quo Vadis
Amon Amarth
Eternal Tears Of Sorrow
Kalmah
Suidakra
Edge Of Sanity
Darkane
Norther
Fragments Of Unbecoming
Arsis

Those are the only ones I can think at the moment.

Arghoslent
Eucharist
Necrophobic

Shattered_Future 03-06-2006 07:53 PM

Kalmah and Norther aren't really Melodic Death Metal...they're more harsh power metal than anything. Good groups though.

For DT albums, start with Character. I wrote a review of it, if you want to check it out...absolutely stunning album.

Songs (in addition to the ones Txus mentioned):
The New Build
Lost To Apathy
The Endless Feed
Dry Run
My Negation
Final Resistance
Hours Passed In Exile
The Wonders At Your Feet
Haven
The Sun Fired Blanks
The Treason Wall
Hedon

That should be good to get you started.

Bands (again, in addition):
Autumn Leaves
Arch Enemy

Sleeper 03-06-2006 07:59 PM

Thank you guys, really.

10th man down 03-06-2006 08:08 PM

Hey, can you guys recomend me an album by the following bands. I've heard these bands on Limewire.

Stratovarious
Dark Moor
Helloween

If there are any other bands with similar styles you think I should check out, please say so. :)

Shattered_Future 03-06-2006 08:19 PM

Stratovarius = Elements Part 1
Helloween = Keeper Of The Seven Keys Part 1, or Part 2.

Stratovarius = Sonata Arctica you might like. I don't know why they're compared so much (personally, I think Stratovarius can't touch Sonata) but they play similar styled music, I guess.

Yeah, I've only heard a couple of Stratovarious songs. I see a little resemblance. I going to an all-metal CD shop next week so I want to know which albums to get.
Would someone care to recommend me an album by The Doors? I've gotten into The End lately, after watching Apocalypse Now and I'm curious to hear some more of their stuff.
Definitely get their s/t debut first. That's their most essential album, their most popular, and is amazing even if it's not their best imo. It also has their most popular songs (The End, Light My Fire, and Break on Through) so it's a great introduction. But even if you don't like that, don't discount the Doors. Their first couple albums are heavily psychedelic but by the end of their career, their albums were pure blues-rock. I know some people who only like the early days and some people who only like the later days, so I'd give both a try. But the debut is definitely the best way to start. If you're looking for more, get Strange Days after their debut. It has a very similar sound and is just as good.

Yeah, but there is at least a good chance that fans of it will like them.

Shattered_Future 03-10-2006 09:31 PM

Cynic, Atheist, and Canvas Solaris all should fit the bill rather nicely. :thumb:
