I've never heard of them, what are they like?

Today I was listening to Bloc Party for the first time, I don't know if I like them or not. When I hear them some more I'll be able to make a decision.

calcium bromide - CaBr2
calcium phosphide - Ca3P2
calcium nitirde - Ca3N2

Li2O - Lithium Oxide
AlCl3 - Aluminium Chloride (first letter in symbol is alwyas capitalized)

Tommorow's Lesson.

Also could You explain why... Sno2 is Tin ( IV ) oxide and not Tin ( II ) oxide

Sure. :)

Tin can have a charge of 2+ or 4+...right? Oxygen ALWAYS has a charge of -2, so if you've got 2 oxygens, 2 * -2 = -4, right? You need to balance out that -4. I know it sort of goes against the whole peroxide ion, O2, being negative 2 as well, but that's just how that compound is named. It combines with two monatomic oxygens rather than one diatomic oxygen. You'll learn why later. It has to do with electron configuration and stability.

So let me try...

SnO2 -- > Sn2O

Sn2*2 O-1 *2 ( because oxygen always has to have a charge of -2 )
Sn40-2 -- > Tin ( IV ) Oxide

I never was officailly in, but it didn't work out because I live too far away, which means we wouldn't be able to practice often enough.
No hard feelings, though, we're all still friends.
