I think the guy who did that site know that better than you...
There's nothing to really know, facts are facts. Goths have not existed in hundreds of years. |
There's nothing to really know, facts are facts. Goths have not existed in hundreds of years.
yes they have... |
No they haven't. They were basically an ancient group of people. I'm done arguing this.
|
Actually, i think Josh is right...the Goths were a culture in medieval times...
I don't know who Goths think they are now...just an excuse to wear those freaky pants with the huge straps and paint your fingernails black. |

Where I come those "goth" people are referred to as "trashy nu metal kids".
Actually, i think Josh is right...the Goths were a culture in medieval times...

"The name "goth" originally came from a Germanic tribe (ie the Goths). The Romans regarded them as barbaric and uncultured, much like the Vandals. "Gothic" was later applied to a style of medieval architecture by critics who regarded it as similarly barbaric and uncultured (something similar happened with the term "Vandal"). The term was later applied to a late 18th/early 19th century style of literature which had a fascination with death and the supernatural."
|
But how is that at all related to a 21st century group of teenage kids who act like they're depressed and dress in ridiculous clothing?
The term Gothic has been around forever, but the modern connotation of it makes no sense. |

And therein, you just explained the definition of it and contradicted yourself. :) |

^^^ But what you just described is, in now way whatsoever, related to the ancient definition of gothis. Call me crazy, but I don't see a connection.

I mean that if you dress and look gothic you can call yourself a goth even if you dont listen to the ORIGINAL goth music... it's like you probably look mainstream but you listen to bodom but I will still call you a "mainstream guy" if you look like one.... |
the intro is'nt really correct...
Oh. Is everything else good? |
Oh.
Is everything else good?
I listened to about half of the file. Everything was good except the last part of the intro and the chorus (same riff). It was the part where Alexi goes from power chords to the little ascending thing. |

I never thought it sounded good...im trying to fix it now EDIT: now it sounds better EDIT2: It wont let me paste the link  |
There has been a guitar pro in your face for about 3 or 4 days now.
Has anyone here seen passage to the reaper?

The term Gothic has been around forever, but the modern connotation of it makes no sense.
Exactly, that's what I don't get. I don't get the "scene" either, but then again, I've never really taken an interest in scenes.
I didnt think it was Kalmah
Hmm. There seems to be some dispute. I'll listen to it and (attempt to) figure it out.
Every Bodom album is equally perfect.
Agreed.
touche pilot, touche.
 |
The play down one whole step.
ah ok thanks
 what was so funny about that? |
I agree with you 100% about scenes...but really, what was funny about touche? Was it because he called me pilot? |
Exactly, that's what I don't get. I don't get the "scene" either, but then again, I've never really taken an interest in scenes.
it's evolution!!! how is the Goth tribes related to the original goth music?? it isn't. The meaning of the word has changed or it just have more meanings now. look at this again: "The name "goth" originally came from a Germanic tribe (ie the Goths). The Romans regarded them as barbaric and uncultured, much like the Vandals. "Gothic" was later applied to a style of medieval architecture by critics who regarded it as similarly barbaric and uncultured (something similar happened with the term "Vandal").
