I dont find that my stage ride functions that well as a crash, it still sounds very ride like when compared to say a 20" vault crash.
i have a question...

i have fusion hats, and the bell has this weird ring that id like to reduce, how could i do this? in other words whenever i hit it has a bit of a ring
maybe tape the underside of the bell, i personally dont tape cymbals, but it might solve your problem

edit: 300 posts finally

HeLLmO 06-13-2006 12:35 PM
The 20" AAX Stage ride has your name all over it. Only bad thing is the bell is a little small. Great ride though.
i'd go 21'' though because the bell is a bit bigger, but that is just my opinion
I've played a pair of 12" Mini Hats and thought they were great! Nicely high pitched and cool for effects.

Awesome, I've never got to play a set, but they seem definitely worth getting.

Yeah I liked playing them. Definitely would consider a pair after my set is "complete", just because I'm not looking for that right now.

i'm looking for a decently priced, clear cutting china and 16" crash that can hold up to Mars Volta style drumming, but still be useful when the volume gets toned down.

chewaz 06-14-2006 05:26 PM

what's the sound of the 2002 22" heavy ride like?

Okay, I have a dilemma. I'm upgrading my crappy cymbals (Pearls) that I've had for 4.416 years. I'm looking for a set of hats that have a very tight, articulate, clean, and clear sound when closed, and very bright when open. Washy when slightly open, but not when closed. I have narrowed it down to four.
1. 13" AAX Studio Hats
2. 14" AAX Stage Hats
3. 14" A Custom Hats
4. 13.25" K Custom Hybrid Hats

In that order, I believe.

Any opinions, suggestions?

drummerdave 06-15-2006 03:23 PM

what about a custom mastersound hats? they sound like they could be what you're after, never heard the hybrids, the studio hats sound nice, a guy i know has them and i heard them live, very nice hats, never heardthe stage hats

i'd look at K Custom Mastersounds as well, they are excelent hats. i'm gonna be rockin' 'em for my new ska band. of course, i'm not totally sure if the Nook has K Custom Mastersounds...so u might have to speak with the nice ppl at massmusic.net

Static 06-15-2006 04:07 PM

Don't you mean K Mastersounds?

HeLLmO 06-15-2006 04:52 PM

i think they make both

Static 06-15-2006 04:56 PM

Didn't see any K Customs on the site.

All right, it's a toss up between the 13" A Custom Mastersounds and the 13" Studio Hats. I wasn't a big fan of the K hats, they were too dark and washy for my liking.

Futuro 06-15-2006 05:03 PM
do 2oo2's have a rep for breaking?
Not really... It all comes down to the player.

Diego what happened to you buying the sigs?
15" signature
Garbage. 15 inches and sound edge, no thanks :-/

13 IMO is big as you should go with anytype of sound edge, mastersound cymbal.

Static 06-15-2006 05:11 PM

I changed my hat preference. At first I thought wash>all, but now I'm more about tight, closed hat sounds. So I just didn't get them.

Ah, ok. Dont get any sound edge, mastersound thing then.

As far as tight closed hats, check out the Quickbeat/Newbeats

yea, the 13'' quick beats should suit you very well, excellent hats. or maybe 13'' AAX fusion hats, but they may be too washy, i haven't played them for a while

Static 06-15-2006 05:26 PM

I've played the Mastersounds before, and I really liked them. I don't like New Beats, and I don't know why. I just don't like any of the A line up basically. I like the fusion hats too, I was gonna go with those also, but they're too loose for my liking.

Static 06-15-2006 05:27 PM

The quick beats are a little too washy for my liking, also.

HeLLmO 06-15-2006 06:46 PM

K Custom Special Dry hats maybe?

Seafroggys 06-15-2006 07:24 PM
The quick beats are a little too washy for my liking, also, but those New Beats that I tried out are absolutly awesome. I had no idea such wonderness could be made into a cymbal!
Yeah, you should go try them out. They ARE fantastic.

froggys my man, we've been over this before, not everyone sleeps with their new beats next to them at night
