I dont usually trust used albums.

rippa32 04-04-2005 05:35 AM

Yeah thats true. Did all the artwork and stuff come with it?

Modestbob 04-04-2005 11:07 AM
Hey everyone, I'm back. Too lazy to catch up on the old posts, I'm sure they were earth-shattering and brilliant.

I got The Wall for like 15 bucks, used.
I got that beat, I buy lps from my friend and I got the Wall for $4. And it was in perfect condition. And im gonna buy his Meddle and Obscured By Clouds lp for cheap too.

Shazzam 04-04-2005 02:20 PM

Gilmour played drums for Syd's solo career?

Now this I gotta hear!
Gilmour played drums for Syd's solo career?

I know the Soft Machine helped out out with his first album (Madcap Laughs) and yes, Gilmour and Waters helped with his second. (Barrett)

I didn't know he played drums though.

Madcap. 04-04-2005 02:28 PM

Gilmour was co-producer on both albums.

Madcap. 04-04-2005 02:29 PM

The druming one Barrett is pretty standard. I think Gilmour played onn Dominoes.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 02:30 PM

I find it hard to believe Gilmour played drums...but id like to hear it if theirs a clip.

$15 for the wall used is a good deal...but i really dont like used albums. I keep all my priginals in pristine condidtion, especially ones I try to gather the whole collection of - like floyd. You wont find a fingerprint anywere on it.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 04-04-2005 02:34 PM

*cough*...NERD!....*cough* :p

Madcap. 04-04-2005 02:36 PM

Gilmour is a mediocore drummer, nothing special.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 02:43 PM
*cough*...NERD!....*cough*
Then ive hit a new level of demoting nerds. :p

The only floyd albums i need are atom heart mother and The Final Cut. Ive really been so into buying new ones for the past 2 months, i barely had time to listen to em.

Then again...i got about 20 albums in the past month, so their all a little left out

Madcap. 04-04-2005 02:46 PM

Schyma, do you have a bigger version of your avatar?

Merci.

standard 04-04-2005 03:55 PM

Wow, Gilmour plays drums too? Man, bass, guitar, drums, he does it all, and good.

I really liked Floyd's stuff without Waters. Not that I dislike him, but I like Gilmour's voice better, and I really like the stuff he wrote.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 04:01 PM

I like Gilmours voice, but i dont like it in all of the songs...so '85 and on i dont really like. And the structure of the songs seemed to be a little weaker to, as well as the lyrics.

I cant blame him for tryin too hard, but i think waters was the genius behind that band

and nice avator :thumb: ive been lookin for one like that, but a bunch of the reflected rainbows, like the cd cover of the DSOTM 30th anniversary

standard 04-04-2005 04:06 PM

I agree, but in a couple songs (Sorrow, AMLOR, Keep Talking) his voice fits the song very good.

I really like Marooned off TDB, very good instrumental. Won a grammy. ^.^

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 04:08 PM

marooned is probably my favorite floyd instumental, next to Any Colour you like

My posts are always earth-shattering, and mostly brilliant. ;)

Lucky boy, I got The Wall for 55bucks Australian. :(

The only time I ever bought a CD used, it had a big, near invisible scratch right across it. I took it back and tore the store a new one.

lunch998 04-04-2005 06:11 PM

I got The Wall new for 20$ American.

magicbus 04-04-2005 06:13 PM
I got The Wall new for 20$ American.
That sounds about right.
That sounds about right.
A lot of places have it for 30$.
I got The Wall new for 20$ American.
Nice buy. When was that? The Aussie dollar is really strong now, but I guess that would have been similar to my price back in the day.

Distant Echoes 04-04-2005 06:14 PM

Ive never seen it less then $35 new. The only more expensive album ive seen is the White Album

lunch998 04-04-2005 06:20 PM
Nice buy. When was that? The Aussie dollar is really strong now, but I guess that would have been similar to my price back in the day.
Around October I think. It was actually marked at 30$ and I was prepared to buy it for that, but it turns out it was only 20$. Either there was some kind of sale or I got away with something.

I think he did a pretty good job.. But it really wasn't Floyd without Waters.

Oh, the avatar.. Thanks :D I like yours haha. I'm a huge Zep fan too.

Kingofdudes 04-04-2005 08:34 PM

The two disc = ten more dollars thing is a bunch of crap. Blank CDs are very cheap.
