Yes it is. It's really long, the Australia show is worth the DVD alone.

bwnstl 11-14-2006 04:58 AM

Yeah, the only thing I'm upset about is the complete lack of Syndic Calls. It's the ONLY song they didn't play from Panopticon and I personally think it's one of the top 3 songs on the album. That made me really sad. :(

Apocalyptic Raids 11-14-2006 06:27 AM

I've been enjoying the Explosions In The Sky album that was in the Daily Upload last week.

Eliminator 11-14-2006 06:47 AM

Explosioins in the Sky?

sorry, i kind of nod off every time i hear their name

Apocalyptic Raids 11-14-2006 06:53 AM

Hey Eliminator

I've got somethin' against you

:(

I know, that sucks so much because it's my favorite song in Panopticon. I loooove So Did We live, I think it's the best song in that DVD.

Anyway, the Don Caballero album I bought yesterday is really damn good. Everyone should check them out eventually.

bucket 11-14-2006 12:18 PM

Saxon Shore- The Exquisite Death of Saxon Shore

Get this album, fellow post-rockians.

Kage 11-14-2006 12:19 PM

Understood.

Don Caballero definitely rule. Certainly not post-rock (well maybe depending on your definition) but a solid as hell band for sure.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-15-2006 07:51 PM

I have a slight dillema. My friend apparently doesn't know how to organize his music, so when his burned copy of Panopticon entered my hard drive, it was totally discombobulated and out of order.

I need someone to give me the track lengths of each track off of Panopticon, plzkthx.

PS: I already tried Google and since the first 5 links yielded nothing I came here. :)

ATM 11-15-2006 08:08 PM

Don Caballero rule, but that album is far from their best.

BringHomeTheBacon 11-15-2006 09:54 PM

Hey guys, would the new Isis album be a good starting album for them? I really like "Dulcinea" and plus I'm in desperate need for some good albums released this year.

Yuzz 11-16-2006 05:37 PM

My, multi-faceted, question to all you post-rockers out there is:

Would My Bloody Valentine classify as Post-Rock? Or is it that Shoegaze music is just a sub-genre of Post-Rock/Metal AND if so would a band like Melt Banana classify as Shoegaze and subsequently Post-Rock?

Well, would they?

(I usually hate the pedantic nature of genres but have been recently fueled by a desire to categorise all my music)

Eliminator 11-16-2006 05:40 PM

My Bloody Valentine are shoegaze. Shoegaze insn't a post rock/metal subgenre.

bucket 11-16-2006 05:43 PM

Yep. Pretty much completely different genres, but there are the occasion bridge jumpers. My Bloody Valentine not being one of them from what I've heard.

No idea about The Melty B's.

Moon Flavor 11-16-2006 06:21 PM

Melt Banana is the opposite of post rock if anything!

Txus 11-17-2006 12:09 AM

Haha, Metlbanana talk in a post-rock thread.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-17-2006 12:15 AM

I've never heard them, but it's about as un-post rock of a name a band could have. :p
Explosions In The Sky has at long last announced the release of their follow up to 2003's The Earth Is Not A Cold Dead Place, entitled All of a Sudden, I Miss Everyone.

The album art will look like this:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v438/lovelymetaphors/allofthesudden.jpg

And the tracklist is as follows:

1. The Birth and Death of the Day
2. Welcome, Ghosts
3. It's Natural To Be Afraid
4. What Do You Go Home To?
5. Catastrophe And Cure
6. So Long, Lonesome

The album will be released on February 20th, 2007 around which they will begin touring again. I'll post more dates as they're announced, so check back.

As always, thanks for supporting the band :)

Cheers-

I am in love with this album cover.

ATM 11-22-2006 02:29 PM

Melt Banana rule.

Txus 11-22-2006 02:29 PM

Hmmm, I think I'm one of the few Post Rock fans that doesn't like EITS that much. The album cover looks fantastic though.

ATM 11-22-2006 02:30 PM

EITS are more of a gateway into better post rock. They were the first post rock band that I really loved.

Kage 11-22-2006 02:31 PM

That album cover is awesome. Explosions in the Sky is pretty average to me. This album will probably determine whether I like them or not. If it's the same ol' thing they've been doing a lot, I'll give them a big two thumbs down.

Txus 11-22-2006 02:33 PM

Best Post Rock Ever = Te.

And Melt Banan do rule.

Kage 11-22-2006 02:38 PM

What was that? I thought I heard someone saying something foolish. Must've been my imagination.

EITS is a good gateway band for sure. They are the PR band I first got into as well.

LF96 11-22-2006 02:41 PM

You can check out one of the songs, namely 'Welcome, ghosts' here: http://pitchforkmedia.com/article/news/39771/Explosions_in_the_Sky_Miss_Everyone_Share_ (all the way down the article)

Haven't checked it yet, and the cover isn't loading for me, but nonetheless I'm very curious about this album.

BringHomeTheBacon 11-22-2006 02:47 PM

I'm liking that song a lot. Not much different from anything else they've ever done, but a good song nonetheless.

Kage 11-22-2006 02:48 PM

Even shittier than I imagined.

bucket 11-22-2006 03:50 PM

My thoughts on eits, good band, but they don't do anything better than other bands, so I tend not to listen to them much.

I like their art style, but this cover does not woo me.

Moon Flavor 11-22-2006 04:07 PM
Hmmm, I think I'm one of the few Post Rock fans that doesn't like EITS that much. The album cover looks fantastic though.
I dislike them quite a bit...they're so boring. Of course, I also feel the same way about GY!BE...

/ready for flames

/goes to find some Melt Banana and see if I like them more than I did last time I heard them

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-22-2006 05:13 PM

I'm thinking I should check out Te or something.

Any confirmed dates yet? I sure would love to see them when they come by near. Most Constellation artists that pass by my area these days only give shows more than 2 hours from where I live though. I've already missed A Silver Mt. Zion and Hrsta because of this...

Anyway, Explosions in the Sky is giving a show not too far from where I live in february, I just might go check that out. Has anyone already seen them? The new song is pretty good, but indeed, it's nothing new. I'm also not the biggest fan of the artwork.

ATM 11-24-2006 11:37 AM

DMST were playing with Broken Social Scene here but it sold out really fast.
