mango jam 02-04-2005 03:51 PM

I'm looking to expand my already quite extensive musical vocabulary

Does anyone have any suggestions for a Led Zeppelin maniac who is also quite fond of Jeff and Tim Buckley, Pink Floyd, RATM, Pixies, Jesus and Mary Chain, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Soundgarden , Silverchair to name but a few?

Merci beaucoup :)

Bartender 02-04-2005 03:59 PM

You could try;

Dinosaur Jr
Gang of Four
Big Black
Aeon Spoke
Porcupine Tree
Murder By Death

Just what first came to mind, and sorry if you know them already.

lunch998 02-04-2005 04:00 PM

You might like Deep Purple alittle bit.

mango jam 02-04-2005 05:50 PM

Thanks...also...what does anyone think of/recommend by either coheed and cambria and At the drive in?

3rdplanet 02-04-2005 06:28 PM

Can't go wrong with Relationship of Command for ATD-I. The EP's all have dodgy recording and some are hard to find, Relationship...is the easiest to get into.

What do people think is the best Nevermore album?

I'm not too big a fan of either of those bands. Try asking in the Alt/Indie forum, though. I think you'd find a lot of bands/artists which are to your taste in there.

could somebody recommend some Judas Priest albums/songs? ive only heard some songs but i like what ive heard so far

munky_magik 02-06-2005 07:06 PM

Where's Riva when you need him?

Bartender 02-06-2005 07:20 PM

From Aenima;
Stinkfist
Aenema
46&2
Eulogy

From Lateralus;
The Grudge
Lateralis (or Lateralus)
Parabol/Parabola (two songs, that blend together)
Ticks and Leeches

From Undertow;
Prison Sex
Bottom
Sober
Swamp Song

Kept it down to four from each (of their 'real' albums), so you don't end up just downloading the whole things.

Thor 02-06-2005 07:21 PM

Someone want to reccomend me some good alternative stuff? I'm open to pretty much any artist.

3rdplanet 02-06-2005 07:24 PM

Porcupine Tree is a good place to start ^

Especially In Absentia.

epihasi 02-07-2005 04:41 AM

Id like to know some bands sounding like:
-Slipknot
-rage against the machine
-Black label society

Especially some Slipknot-type would be great (vocal-wise), because i like corey's deeper voice than some Melodic death Metal Screams like CoB, although i love in Flames!...Thanks.
Epihasi.

Mushroomhead is pretty similar to Slipknot, both in music and vocals, but they experiment more.

metalliman1066 02-07-2005 10:57 AM

can anyone reccomend me any good children of bodom
cheers

[QUOTE=metalliman1066]can anyone reccomend me any good children of bodom

Album = Hatebreeder or Follow The Reaper
songs:
children of decadence
hate me
follow the reaper
hate crew deathroll
bodom after midnight
angels dont kill
bed of razors
warheart
kissing the shadows
sixpounder

Bartender 02-07-2005 11:09 AM

I don't think much of CoB, but I'll vouch for Everytime I Die at least as an excellent song.

metalliman1066 02-07-2005 11:09 AM

thanks loads dream theater

CaptainWaits 02-07-2005 02:50 PM

Can somebody recommend me some "Quo Vadis"??

And is Dark Angel's "Time Does Not Heal" a worthy album??

Bartender 02-07-2005 02:57 PM

I've only heard one album by Quo Vadis (Day Into Night), and two unmixed mp3s from their forthcoming album, one of which, Silence Calls the Storm, is amazing, but I can't find either at the moment.

Day Into Night is great though, so I imagine they're just well worth checking out in general.
