ill_n1no 12-08-2003 09:36 PM

Metallica are crap

ill_n1no 12-08-2003 09:39 PM

the answer to your question, WHo has bEtter bass lines, Metallica or MuDvAyNe? Mudvayne by far.

ill_n1no 12-08-2003 09:40 PM

what the hell, ill nino are the best band at present..

ill_n1no 12-08-2003 09:40 PM

fuel is one crappy song by Metallica..

ill_n1no 12-08-2003 09:42 PM

st anger is one gay song too, the only thing i would ever like Kirt Hammet for is using esp guitars.. people call heavy and their tuning is Standard

Ted VanHammett 12-08-2003 09:46 PM

Yes, St. Anger, although beautifully written lyric wise, wasn't as true as they could be to their fans who were expecting something like the "black" album or load or reload or whatever. I hope they keep the length and the similar lyric writing, just go back to having some wicked solos and some great guitar riffs.

...I'm not 100% on this, because i've only heard half the album, but St. Anger has awful lyrics if you ask me. Maybe it's just the crappy songwriting behind them, but "you live it or lie it" and "my lifestyle determines my deathstyle" sound dumb as hell to me, and the lyrics are all repetitive as hell, st. anger, the song, is long but just keeps repeating different stupid groups of lyrics... Nothing compared to the mindblowing lyrics of all their old stuff or even the decent writing of their 90's stuff. Just my opinion, maybe i missed some good lyric writing.

You're bagging on Metallica and you like Nu-Metal?

Someones been drinking to much VB.

Just so you know....your *** is gonna be banned soon enough, unless you stop being a turdmonkey. Now keep your daft opinions to yourself.

bassplayer18 12-09-2003 01:49 AM

random fact: kirk hammett was only playing guitar for 5 years when kill 'em all came out

FrailandBedazzled1979 12-09-2003 01:54 AM

^^^^

whne your taking lessons from Satriani, that helps lol. Ive been playing bass for over 6 years and guitar for over 2 and i can nail alot of Kirk's leads. He has a good ear for putting "proper" leads into songs without breaking that much of a sweat, ive always admired that.

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 04:55 AM

Ok, I have to clariffy.. I don't like and justice 4 all album because they are too thrashy for my liking. they twist and turn too much.. but saying that I do like and justice for all (song) and one those two are really good.
And justice album just doesnt have enough melody (dunno why)

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 04:56 AM

But saying that they have had enough brilliant songs for me to be a big fan

I don't know... I always found Hammett was too focused on either pentatonic runs with too much wah, or really composed neo-classical solos. Take Fade To Black. The first solo is good as a melodic figure, but the other lead parts are just repetitive and tedious. A great song, but Hammett could have done so much better with it in terms of soloing. If you listen to the short second solo in the Sonata Arctica cover, you'll see what I mean.

except sometimes he gets wah crazy

From_Autumn_To_Ashes 12-09-2003 06:24 AM

Do you actually have a clue. There are blatantly more amazing songs than you dweebs even know about. Orion; Call of Ktulu; Fade to Black; jump In The Fire; Creeping Death? Who says the black Album is an epic? it is good only because its metallica, but compared to the good old days it is still lame, as is anything recent.
Check out Ride The Lightning...their best album bar none

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 06:33 AM

Has ne1 said black album is the best ...no.. tho I do agree with u that ride the lightning is there best STUDIO album by far.. Mop close tho

S+m is best (not a studio album tho)

lewistye 12-09-2003 06:41 AM

personally, i think lyrically metallica are the best band ever. The lyrics on the ...And Justice For All album are amazing.
Music's not bad either

lewistye 12-09-2003 06:47 AM

i know it was many pages back, but my favourite solos to play are:

- any of them, they're impossible!

actually, i can play the first "solo" on master of puppets but that doesnt really count does it?

anyone got any ideas on the first metallica solo to learn?

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 06:59 AM

The solo to one is amazing but thats a bti hard for a FIRST solo.. I would have to say Nothing else matters.. loads of emotion in it but easy to play.

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 07:08 AM

Wow five years.. 3 and a half more and my band might be the new metallica

Ramsey 12-09-2003 07:13 AM

^ Heh. Yeah i was thinking the same same thing!

Ramsey 12-09-2003 07:14 AM

Except two more years ;) :thumb:

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 07:22 AM

Don't compare a match's fire to the fires of hell boy (metallica being the fires of hell)Mudvayne I like, I've got nothing against them, but I think Metallica would blow their asses out of the water. Get the hell out of the Metallica thread if you don't like Metallica, what kind of dumbass are you?

StitchFace 12-09-2003 09:59 AM

I was speaking purely of the old Metallica, the Master of Puppets Metallica

GrimReafer 12-09-2003 11:44 AM

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 12:34 PM

just to let you know mudvaynes bass player , ru-d, is freaking great. cliff was straight metal and great at it . cliff=god
but ru-d does some crazy $hit

PracticeDOESNOTmakePerfect 12-09-2003 02:36 PM

I no my post is a bit late, but I think fade to black is the most perfect peice of music metallica created, i cud listen to it over and over again :P

Ted VanHammett 12-09-2003 03:04 PM

This whole Mudvayne topic has got me thinking... am I the only one tired of bands misspelling their names to draw attention to themselves. I mean, it was cool with led zeppelin and lynyrd skynyrd, but it's just being overdone if you ask me. I also realized that every band at summer sanitarium besides metallica had this...

Linkin Park
Mudvayne
Limp Bizkit
Deftones

It's not rebellious or clever anymore, if it's gonna be done, make it mean something.

StitchFace 12-09-2003 03:25 PM

look, i'm not downing Mudvaynes bassist, i'm just saying that Cliff started the whole thing, and without his inspiration i dont' think you'd have some of the crazy **** out there, just saying, don't get pissed, IMO

kirk_wylde 12-09-2003 03:47 PM

I agree cliff was pretty good... it's just sad he was only alive for their early recordings as the production of those albums didn't do him justice

soundcheckxx 12-09-2003 07:26 PM

ciff = god

ooh i love the man without being gay

but mudvaynes bass player is the best right now

There are many better bassists.. example: Steve Harris.

soundcheckxx 12-09-2003 08:39 PM

there are alot of better bass players true
but not in metal bands

but this as nothing to do with the true reason for this thread

metallica rulz!!!
