Your avatar always makes me crack up, :)

AfroMusicMan 06-21-2005 08:55 PM

i like the new song, mike always has great riffs. Has anyone heard any other songs from the soundtrack of the movie? I think they have a total of 3 new songs on there.

Sleeper 06-21-2005 09:07 PM

Yeh there are 3 songs, I havent heard them all yet.

Janitor 06-21-2005 09:14 PM

The other two haven't been released yet. Next month they are.

drumboy69 06-22-2005 05:37 AM

i like Incubus their drummer is one of my big influences.

Favorite songs.
Pardon me
The warmth
Echo
Aqueous transmission
nebula
deep inside
cologne

BassMasterMike88 06-22-2005 08:09 AM

I think i could get all bass players in this thread to agree that Incubus has been hurting with the loss of Dirk, the guy they have now is OK, but they lack Dirks meolodic riffs that was on the past material. Does anyone know exactly why he left the band? I think he was with them for like a decade or so.

Jovian 06-22-2005 08:27 AM

Incubus lost me after S.C.I.E.N.C.E.

Alessandro 06-22-2005 09:01 AM

Donīt know if you guys agree with this, but I think that Mike holds his skills, you know? I mean some of his solos are great (Sick Sad Little World, Hilikus, Deep Inside, Priceless, etc.) but I think he doesnīt like to "show off" too much. Some times I hate that, although I love most of his stuff. Even Mike himself said that he felt bored as a guitarist with MY and MV, although he loved the songwriting.

Deth 06-22-2005 10:15 AM

It's good that he doesn't show off I think. It just wouldn't fit with the rest of the band.

Brandon's straight, his girlfriend was in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition last year.

Dirk to me just added some slap here and there, Nothing great.

Well ACLOTM was a album that he sort of broke loose and did his own thing.

Alessandro 06-22-2005 08:50 PM
Well ACLOTM was a album that he sort of broke loose and did his own thing.
Thatīs exactly what he said on an interview. I like the direction heīs taking as a lead guitarist, doing more solos and riffs. I donīt think heīs going to do senseless shredding, because Mikeīs an intelligent guitarist, his solos and riffs fit well to the songs.

Sleeper 06-22-2005 08:53 PM

Well 'Shredding' isnt really senseless, But hes more of a creative guitarist like Adam Jones and Morello.

Alessandro 06-22-2005 08:59 PM

I didnīt mean shredding is senseless, I mean, look at my avatar pic, Iīm a Mars Volta fan, I love Omarīs shredding. I just think that some guitarists play fast without feeling, or without thinking about what theyīre doing at all.

Idiot Martyr 06-23-2005 08:00 AM
Your avatar always makes me crack up, :)
Lol I think Mike looks awesome with the 'fro.

And I don't know what you guys think, but I think it's wrong to compare Dirk and Ben. They are both great musicians with their own styles. I liked Incubus from Fungus Amongus and Enjoy Incubus all the way up to Crow.

It's like comparing the albums. You really can't because each one is entirely different from the last. That's what's so great about Incubus. They keep changing things up as they grow and experience and it keeps us wondering what will be next.

WeezerTool523 06-23-2005 09:02 AM

IMO picking up Ben was a great move for the band, since make yourself the band has been moving in a more straight up rock oriented direction, and Dirk's funky style doesn't fit as well and may have held the music back. Ben plays a few different instruments and has laid down some nice solid basslines on crow. I'm sure he also helped a lot with the odyssey.

I forgot to say with Mike taking more of a lead approach in the band, it is better that he doesn't have to compete with the bass player. His skills get to be showcased.

Deth 06-23-2005 09:11 AM

If you think Dirk's style didn't fit with hard rock, just listen to Make Yourself and Morning View. Great hard rock basslines abound.

WeezerTool523 06-23-2005 09:15 AM

That is true, but Ben is still the better musician and the band will only move forward. I'm loving the almost prog sound of crow.

Deth 06-23-2005 09:38 AM

I don't know if he's a better musician, because Dirk is a freaking beast on the bass.

But I'm sure the next album will be great.

EinzingerIsGod 06-23-2005 09:59 AM

They're both completely different musicians...but Ben was a great choice not just because of his bass abilities but also his singing. The bridge of Agoraphobia is proof of that.

Geezer1287 06-23-2005 10:06 AM

yeah. theyre different and thats probably a good thing, rather than having another dirk style bassist who would imitate, ben shows his own qualitys on the album and live by using different styles, moving the band forward in their songwriting. i admit, i was disappointed on red rocks when certain shade of green was DESTROYED!!!

EinzingerIsGod 06-23-2005 10:10 AM
i admit, i was disappointed on red rocks when certain shade of green was DESTROYED!!!
Yeah I don't think they should play that one live. Or Ben just needs to learn to slap. That was pretty bad. He makes up for it in the Percussion "ensemble" thing in Vitamin.

Idiot Martyr 06-23-2005 11:07 AM

Yeah Ben's got speed but some of Dirk's older stuff is hard for him to play. And I agree about the vocals, but Mike also showcases his vocal abilities more on Crow than he prviously has.

Janitor 06-23-2005 12:06 PM

It's not Ben that makes it sound weird, Jose does some weird drumming things in the verse that he never did before.

Sleeper 06-23-2005 12:22 PM

One of the postive things i liked when Ben joined the band, Was the back up vocals.

Idiot Martyr 06-23-2005 06:12 PM

So true.

WeezerTool523 06-23-2005 08:13 PM

Anyone know if they are working on a new album or touring soon? I haven't heard anything about them since the stealth soundtrack.
Anyone know if they are working on a new album or touring soon? I haven't heard anything about them since the stealth soundtrack.
They have sme UK dates coming up, after that I think they're working on new stuff in their own homes.

I wouldn't say that, Listen to Fungus AmongUs compared to Crow Left of the Murder and there's quite a difference that Dirks skill on the low end makes.

I really despise fungus amongus, Its not Incubus to me. Even though most of the Incubus fans adore that album. Dirk was a good bassist, But Incubus are making more serious music to me now.

There seems to be about a 3-4 year span between each album. So based on the fact that ACLOTM was released in early 2004...id say we could expect another album hopefully by early 2007?

lunch998 06-23-2005 11:55 PM

It's more of about 2-3, I'd say.

EinzingerIsGod 06-24-2005 12:14 AM

I guess...early 2007 is a good guess I think...I hope anyways

Sleeper 06-24-2005 01:40 PM

Yeh 2007 would be a good time.

asilaydying016 06-24-2005 02:22 PM

Incubus is pretty good. I only have their Make Yourself cd. All the songs on that cd are amazing!
