Holy Smoke is an example of some bad lyrics lol.

:upset:

I'll try some easier songs to get my "maiden ear" in.

Lyrically.......

Hallowed Be They Name
Paschendale

and well, I know its not too deep or meaningful, but

Iron Maiden. C'mon, it has to be up there.

Either that or Clansman, only Scottish Maiden song :D Pity its Blaze and not Bruce.

btoto 01-16-2004 04:25 PM

yeah, i know. but i was shocked because i'm a metallica fan and i really never saw any metallica performance with so many people singing together.

and i love maiden. especially adrian. he's one of my favourite guitarists. :)

i feel the same way lol, the rock n rio version is the only way i listen to the song. it was great when i saw them live last summer and they did it!!!!

TheArtist 01-16-2004 11:34 PM

this isn't on the current topic, but did you know maiden uses squiers on stage? they have di'marzios though.

FrailandBedazzled1979 01-17-2004 12:17 AM

^^^

im sure at sometime they might have used one as a back up, but that mostly play Fenders or Jacksons (davey) and Adrian uses his Les Paul some as well. Obviosuly over the years they have used differnet guitars, gibson exploreres, SG's, etc...but now and days mostly Strats with Hotrail humbuckers.

:( Pity they didn't do it in Scotland though, even thouight there was a petition on their forum for it. :upset:

HondoII 01-19-2004 04:33 PM

they use squiers with duncan hotrails and floyd rose bridges...

H has been using his V on this DOD tour.

11 more days!

SCREAM FOR ME LOS ANGELES!

sensitiveorgan00 01-19-2004 04:46 PM

^ Guess what? 4 MORE DAYS FOR ME! I'm so ****ing excited. First time seeing Maiden, major pwnage. So, is anyone else going to the Friday show in New York?

YDload 01-19-2004 07:22 PM

I'm gonna ask this again, because it didn't get any response last time: what's the hardest bass song that Steve Harris has made? I think it's "Phantom of the Opera," but you may know more than me.
Hey, i was wondering what everyone's 3 favourite "lyrical" Iron Maiden songs are???
Revelations
Sea of Madness
Purgatory (wasn't expecting that one were you?)

You're probs right with Phantom Of The Opera, but as I don't play Bass, I wouldn't know.

Steve Harris has done a lot of mad Bass Lines, The Prisoner always seemed tricky to me.

Not that it matters, but has any one noticed that the artwork on some of the Iron Maiden discs are faded or colored wrong and also it says (0.00) on the time of Sanctuary on the re-done album, My friend also bought a NOTB cd and the artwork that was on the disc was the Iron Maiden album, but it still played all the NOTB songs. I was just wondering why alot of Maiden albums are mis-printed.

I think it's just on the Remasters, but I have no clue why.

me and three guys were going to drive up to it from st.louis but our lack of money kept us back, belive me...im more than upset. at least give us a through review :) I saw them in August, my second time, and i left in tears. Just a phenominal show as usual.

Im a ****ing diciple of Steve on bass, ive been practicing his style since before i ever heard of Maiden. Honestly, i wrote a riff that is a note off from "the clairvoyant" before i ever heard the band lol. Harris is what drew me into them to begin with (and yes i play Fender P-basses mostly) so when i heard his galloping three triplet style, i began to work on it and i have it down well enough to play in a tribute band i tell ya hehe. Honestly, his hardest riffs arnt due to speed but more on his choice of fingering on the fretboard. Steve, as you all know, follows leads and fills that many bassiest would choose to ignore...this making it hard at times. His little jaunt in "only the good die young" and even the prechorus on "caught somwhere in time" took me awhile to get down. Listen to his rhythems during leads, i know its hard to not listen to Adrian or Davey (janick too!) but this is where Steve can really shine, completly taking the rhythem into new directions without guitar acompainet. Blood on the Worlds Hands is a difficult intro at first, but again...get his style down and everything is natural to play by him, as well as the interldue in "infinate dreams". really an inspiration for me, along with Geddy Lee and John Paul Jones...Steve's style helped me take more of a lead direction with the bass guitar.

Does anybody here really enjoy Di'Anno?

I was listening to Iron Maiden yesterday and it struck me just how good he was, anybody else feel this way?

Also, I was doing a bit of by-ear transcription from the same album (got the Remember Tomorrow riff and most of Running Free) but I need one more bit of info:

In the running Free verse, is it E5 - C5 - G5, E5 - C5 - D5 or is it something else?
