Zwned! The band is mine!

That would actually be fun, to do one of those MX cover band things for Pink Floyd.

Yeah. Pink Floyd rules.

Its all gravys 11-24-2005 03:15 AM

at what point do you start playing dark side of the moon when u want to coincide it with the wizard of oz??

Riva 11-24-2005 04:46 AM

The third roar of the MGM lion on the 30th (I think) anniversary edition of the DVD.

Yield 11-24-2005 09:13 AM
Dude you should do a PF cover band with that name!

I really wouldn't recomend that book to new comers though.
Yeah I would really only reccomend it to people who have more albums than just The Wall and Dark Side. And also knowing who Syd was would help.

If so, I call the rhythm guitar parts.

DeusExMachina 11-24-2005 12:25 PM

I think it would be really difficult to do a Pink Floyd cover band thing. But it could be fun.

Saucerful of Secrets probably is only a good read for people who are already into Floyd. But, I just found it very enjoyable, and think that even people who don't know much would learn a lot from it, as long as they're interested in learning more about the band.

Dr. Jake Destructo 11-24-2005 01:22 PM

I know Aaron and Jason had plans to participate in that mx cover competition that was won by the Tool thread, but they never did. :upset: We/someone should try to do a cover of something. Something short from PATGOD would be pretty easy, as would Wish You Were Here.

Well, not easy, but easier than something like SoYCD. :p

Spinal Pap 11-24-2005 01:38 PM

Some of the shorter tracks off The Wall would work out well, like The Thin Ice or Hey You.

Don't expect anything too spectacular.

My favorite album is WYWH it's pure secks

DeusExMachina 11-24-2005 11:27 PM

SOYCD I-V > SOYCD VI - IX

WYWH is probably my favorite Floyd album. But they're all amazing.

standard 11-25-2005 12:27 AM

I just watched some local station show, and Waters was on it. The guy asked if they would do a tour, he said absolutly not.. Then he said he feels that they will get back together for another thing like Live Aid.

I hope if they do, they do a US show.. My dad said we would go under any circumstances. :o

Romencer17 11-25-2005 01:21 AM

I tried doing that thing with the wizard of Oz last year. It didn't work at all for me.

DeusExMachina 11-25-2005 01:23 AM

That's because it's a load of BS.

I'd love it if they did one more show, I'd lay down my college education* to see it.

*not really.

TemperamentalGoat 11-25-2005 01:57 AM

Although not my favorite album of Floyd's(that would go to Wish you were Here), the Division Bell seems to be an overlooked gem by many fans. It has several nice relaxing instrumentals and classic floyd ("Keep Talking", "What do you Want from me").

Breathe/Speak to Me. Or Is there anybody out there, Or.... Wish you where here.

Are we gonna do it or not?

DeusExMachina 11-25-2005 12:41 PM

I was gonna do Mother with Flabbit, but it never worked out. Anyone want to do Mother? I've got the solo pretty well nailed.

JessJansen 11-25-2005 12:46 PM

Has anyone ever heard any different versions of wish you were here. I was thinking of doing that song for an open mic and id like it to sound really different to grasp peoples attention. If not thats ok.

Broken Arrow 11-25-2005 12:59 PM

I've heard Radioheads version of WYWH, it was nothing special though. Played the intro with piano they did.

When did they do that? was it on a album?

magicbus 11-25-2005 05:04 PM

I don't know Mother, but I'm up for another song. As some of you might know, I'm really getting into recording stuff, and always up for more.

Danger Bird 11-25-2005 05:47 PM

Hey...

Put on Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun. Now, light a candle and turn off all the lights. Stare at the candle. Stare. Blink as little as possible. After about 3 minutes, close your eyes. The image will be burned onto your retina, so you can still see it with your eyes closed. Now just try to focus on it. It's a form of meditation. Works especially well when high, I'm told.

Oh, and if you're into synchs, try Echoes with 2001: A Space Odyssey. I 'll post a link, hang on.

All I would be able to do is think of your avatar.

Has the floyd thread done covers before?

Danger Bird 11-25-2005 06:05 PM

Um, this isn't Floyd related but I figured floydians would be able to help me the most. I'm making a mix tape for...indulging... and I need some more songs. I don't need any more floyd, but if you guys could recommend some stuff that would be super. Here's the list so far:

1. Rolling Stones-Gimmie Shelter
2. Neil Young and Crazy Horse-Danger Bird
3. Pink Floyd-Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun (Ummagumma version)
4. The Doors-The End
5. Jefferson Airplane-A Small Package of Value Will Come To You Shortly
6. Jefferson Airplane-White Rabbit
7. Blue Oyster Cult-Don't Fear the Reaper
8. The Beatles-Tomorrow Never Knows
9. Strawberry Alarm Clock-The Pretty Song from Psych-Out
10. The Beatles-Come Together
11. Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young-Freedom
12. Pink Floyd-Echoes

Thanks.

magicbus 11-25-2005 06:23 PM

Will anything else fit on there? The End, Set The Controls, Echoes, those will probably take up a bunch of room.

Danger Bird 11-25-2005 06:35 PM

So far it's clocking in at 1:17 and my tape is 100 minutes long. I have room for 1 more. (I'm also willing to delete A Small Package of Value and Freedom)
