You like Against Me! therefore you should like Mischief Brew/Erik Petersen, Ghost Mice, Evan Greer, Bread and Roses and Defiance, Ohio.

Angry Balled Fists! 01-10-2006 10:48 AM

Yeah, i've just downloaded some Defiance Ohio...

Good call. Definitely get some Erik Petersen too.

Iron Bug 01-10-2006 03:49 PM

Dan, check out Ryan Harvey too.

England5Germany1 01-12-2006 10:46 AM

I'd also reccomend Saw Wheel as well, I only have like 5 songs of them from the split with Ghost Mice, but i like it a lot.

DaveToopes 01-12-2006 02:40 PM

That's a really good split.

Special Brew 01-21-2006 11:28 PM

What are some bands that mix hardcore with a poppy and overall happier sound? Stuff like CIV, Set Your Goals, Daggermouth, and Shelter.

It doesn't really have to hardcore either. Just stuff with similar traits and things. I just want poppy sounding music that has a bit of aggression to it.

Liebensaft 01-21-2006 11:41 PM

Kid Dynamite?

DaveToopes 01-21-2006 11:43 PM

GOOD call, Joe. Wizard, definitely check 'em out if you haven't already.

Liebensaft 01-21-2006 11:54 PM

Thank you. I'm listening to Shorter, Faster, Louder now. Good stuff.

DaveToopes 01-21-2006 11:58 PM

Yeah, it's an awesome album.

Can someone recommend me some good old school sounding screamo? I really like Funeral Diner, City of Caterpillar, Moss Icon, and Rites of Spring.

Special Brew 01-22-2006 12:05 AM
Kid Dynamite?
I have listened to them in the past, but for some reason they have escaped my mind lately. Thanks! They are exactly what I am looking for! Any more groups you guys can think of?

Try Saetia, The Kite Flying Society, and The Kodan Armada if you haven't yet. Those are three of my favorites, next to the almighty Orchid.

Screw old No Doubt and Sublime. There's way better ska out there. For starters, take Ethan's suggestion and check out Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto.
Get some Desmond Dekker.
I would but I just realized I only have $6 out of the $120 that I had at Christmas.

DaveToopes 01-22-2006 09:21 PM

Oh, I have trouble remembering that not everyone is a pirate these days.

When you've got the cash, Desmond Dekker would be a good call.

Special Brew 01-23-2006 01:17 AM

I'm a pirate through and through. :D

I buy everything I can though, but I'm poor.

Jessizzle 01-23-2006 02:36 PM

I just relized the first post talks about my bad taste in music.
