rush is the only good band on earth
On drums I know :
Tom Sawyer
The Pass
Subdivisions
Bastille Day
I think I'm going bald
2112 (overture)
Lakeside Park
I love the part in overture when the drums just start to go crazy and rolling or whatever. I don't know if you know what I'm talking about, but it's pretty sweet

Best - Quite Possibly

But the only good one is taking it a bit far.

There is a similarity there in 1 section of the song. It's a very big stretch to say that most of the vocal line was stolen. More like 20 seconds of similar sounding vocals. Whether or not they took it intentionally or just because it's really not that complex of a melody to begin with, we may never know. However, the part in Welcome Home that uses a similar vocal rhythm, listen to the guitar in that part. Than listen to Tom Sawyer. You'll hear that at one point in Tom Sawyer, the rhythm is very alike.

Ugh, Geddy Lee sucks in that one though.

Now "A Passage to Bangkok" has an AWESOME riff. Great solo too.

The Twilight Zone riff owns the APTB riff. Plus, its solo has the coolest first note ever.

Geddy Lee REALLY shines during Something for Nothing on that album

True. Although, I prefer the sound of his voice on "Moving Pictures" and "Signals."

hallowed_ironmaiden 08-20-2005 09:25 PM

I just got Permanent Waves today, really great stuff. I now have Moving Pictures, PW, and 2112.

BludgeonySteve 08-21-2005 10:32 AM
quick question- how many albums do Rush have?
A WHOLE LOT. Look at their official website. They were very prolific especially in the 70s and 80s.

Distant Echoes 08-21-2005 12:07 PM

31 albums total
17 original
6 Greatest hits (double album = 2)
8 live albums

Might not be perfect but is **** close

Don't count double albums as two. They have a bunch of double live albums too. And Rush in Rio is not 3 albums.

Distant Echoes 08-21-2005 12:28 PM

Different Stages is three albums though.

They also have two greatest hits albums that are double. They really only made one greatest hits early in there career (after 2112s success), then went for a long until making another, as far as i know.

They released a live album every 4 studio albums to so that also boost their album count...double or not

3rdplanet 08-21-2005 04:44 PM

Could anybody please tell me what this song is?

hxxp://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3CVQ4LBGVNKGZ20PKZG0KAH1BD

I'm pretty certain it's a Rush song being covered by Dream Theater.

fr0zt 08-21-2005 05:33 PM

La Villa Strangiato... but it's only for the half point on.

Edit- They actually do the riff from Analog Kid as well.

3rdplanet 08-21-2005 05:49 PM

ah ha, is it a medley then?

BludgeonySteve 08-21-2005 07:50 PM

Rush should go on tour with Dream Theater. They attract similar fans.
