^ I like your style. Rush&Yes=waysuperawesome It's a scientific fact.

CSD & the Soul Machines 03-12-2005 01:17 PM

My most influential song would have to be Miranda by TMV...yeah already. I've already totally changed up my style since Frances' release.

metaliq 03-12-2005 04:12 PM

My most influential song... or I guess I admire the most... MewithoutYou - Paper Hanger.

:)

Oh, on a side note, it's official, my computer set up is better then all of yours. Yea, it's true. Need proof?

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-12-2005 04:58 PM

So has anyone since the video to Interpol - Evil? I'd call that a flop at best. It disturbs me on many levels.

metaliq 03-14-2005 08:48 PM

No, where can i witness it.

Spectrum 03-14-2005 10:24 PM

Good video: Coldplay - The Scientist

Awesome concept, and well-executed. It's a great video for a hugely popular song.

Corupt2057 03-14-2005 10:58 PM

TRUE FACT: He learnt how to sing the song backwards so they could reverse the video without his mouth being out of sync.

mshort813 03-15-2005 03:31 PM

Okay so I have a poem up now if anyone wants to crit it. And even if you don't want to crit it, tell me if you like it. Just do a noob crit. So if you read it, just say whether it's good or bad, or crit if you feel the need. Any feedback is appreciated.

Beware of the Ides Of March! ;)

How is everyone?

Spectrum 03-15-2005 03:42 PM

I'm doing alright, I'm just stressed out. I've got all my normal priorities, and now I've got to learn a 7-10 minute audition for getting into college. No big deal. I'm just losing sleep. Nothing special.

Beware the Ides of March!

Anyway, I'm off. Cheers.

theredwonder 03-18-2005 03:10 AM

A_Perfect_Sonnet 03-18-2005 02:34 PM

I know this is a little delayed, but a few days ago The Fall of Troy (recently signed by Equal Vision Records) put up new songs on their purevolume site www.purevolume.com/thefalloftroy. Give it a listen, I think you'll enjoy it. Also, check out the Myspace for some old stuff.
"emo"

-Musically there's a lot dynamics between ultra-soft / whispered vocals / twinkly guitar bits and full-bore crashing / twin Gibson SG guitar roaring / screaming vocals. One of the most recognizable and universal elements of emo shows up in the guitar sound of this style: the octave chord. Octave chords give this style a high-pitched, driving urgency and a very rich texture. The Gibson SG / Marshall JCM-800 guitar combo and Ampeg 400 bass amp is the classic emo gear. Solid-state amps are unheard of.

-The vocal style is usually much more intense than emocore, ranging from normal singing in the quiet parts to a kind of pleading howl to gut-wrenching screams to actual sobbing and crying. Straight-edge boys tend to hate that part, and much derision is levelled at emo bands on this point. Most emo bands tend to have some epic-length songs that build up very slowly to a climax where someone cries. If you're receptive to this kind of thing, it can be extremely powerful and moving, since it's very hard to fake that kind of pure emotion convincingly.

-Lyrics tend toward somewhat abstract poetry, and are usually low in the mix and hard to decipher.
From fourfa.com, take it as you will.

mshort813 03-20-2005 03:54 PM

I like how they say that their definition of "emo" bands have epic length songs that build up to someone crying. And I also like how they tell you what "classic emo gear" is.
