What currency?
100 english? 100 canadian?
100 pheasants?!

and like Plan B said, what sound are you after?

llama123 02-07-2005 10:44 AM
wat would the K constinople med low ride, K dark crash thin and A zildjian & cle vinatge crash be compared to for sabian?
Possibly the 20" Hand Hammered Medium ride, the HH Thin crash and the AA Medium/Medium Thin crashes.

Queen Anne's Revenge 02-07-2005 01:26 PM

On the search for a China cymbal. Preferably Sabian, 18 to 20", good for lots of riding and can stand up to some pretty hard hitting (hard rock/metal). Medium decay is preferred.

llama123 02-07-2005 01:47 PM

^ 18"/20" HHX Chinese.

Aydum 02-07-2005 06:42 PM

Hey, before I head off to the music store tomorrow I was wondering if the store would accept this offer and/or if it would be a fair trade for me.

16" Paiste Alpha thin crash
16" Paiste Alpha crash
18" Sabian Pro Chinese
13" Zildjian A Custom Mastersound Hi-hats

for

16" Sabian AA Medium Crash
13" Sabian HHX Groove Hi-hats

I don't know man, you got some nice cymbals there.
I don't know man, you got some nice cymbals there.
Well the thing is, my taste has changed a bit, and now I'm looking for a more defined sticking sound that the mastersounds can't provide. Don't get me wrong, they're still a great pair of hats, it's just that I like the sound and tone of the groove hats more. Crash-wise I'm thinking the Alphas don't project enough when I gig with my band because I play un-miced.

groomits 02-07-2005 09:09 PM
i'd go with the stage...better for forceful playing. the AAXplosion is a bit too fast and punchy.
but the cymbal (aaxplosion or stage) would be my 2nd crash. cause now I got a xs20 as 2nd that I want to change. cause I think that for a 2nd crash, a punchy one could be cool...

metallifan78 02-08-2005 01:13 PM

hey im looking at some zildjian zbt rocks. there in my price range of around $300. is there anything better in that range or is this a good pack 2 buy.

llama123 02-08-2005 02:14 PM

^ ZBTs are not good cymbals. If you have to go for lower end cymbals, Sabian B8/Pro or Paiste 502 are much better.

k im playing stock everything on my set. i just started and im aout to buy them out of desperation. my set came w/ a 16" crash/ride & god knows what hi-hats. there cbs and im about tired of them are those atleast better?

bobby__johnny 02-08-2005 04:07 PM

yes. they are a little better, but the B8's are the same price range, and MUCH better than ZBT's.

da qwikz 02-08-2005 06:21 PM

I am looking for a splash cymbal that is bright and has a lot of sustain

And as far as the ZBT's go, the 16 in crash is horrible. The 18 inch china on the otherhand is one of my favorite cymbals.

The other question I have is about the ZXT Trashformers. My friend bought one and he says it is awesome. I am not sure if I should buy one or not?? I have read mixed reviews on it and I was wondering if you had heard anything

Thanx a lot

You have yet to steer me wrong, I will give it a try, along with several others.

szenarox 02-08-2005 07:32 PM

uhm... question. i cracked my 20inch z custom medium crash a few weeks ago..*glassy eyed* should i A, buy another 20 incher, B) wait till march to get the 20 inch z custom projection crash, or C) stay away from z customs all together, and get the 20 inch A custom medium crash?

*sucker for zildjians....

You cracked a z custom?

That's like leaning on 10" reinforced glass for whales.

Try and custom order a cymbal that is two z customs fused together. Then you won't have to waste so much money buying cymbals all the time

DruMMeR_BoY14 02-09-2005 02:50 AM

And be htiting hub caps.

Go with the 20" A custom medium, the A customs have the same amount of volume as the Z's. but are so much more musical.

llama123 02-09-2005 10:34 AM

^ Aye, they are.
I'm not too sure cracking a Z Custom is normal, so keep in mind that A Customs (even the mediums) are thinner. Try to look at your technique, cymbals aren't cheap... [rhyming there :thumb:]...

Yeh I'll go... :(

bobby__johnny 02-09-2005 04:39 PM

if your cracking Z Customs, theres DEFINATLY something wrong....where did it crack?

szenarox 02-09-2005 05:06 PM
if your cracking Z Customs, theres DEFINATLY something wrong....where did it crack?
the cymbal had a factory defect where the thickness of the edge suddenly got thinner on one side of the crack than the other. it cracked right on that line and it looked like it had been dropped or something. my stupidity for not returning it right away, but live and learn i guess. i didn't think anything of it at the time though and i had it for two years before it cracked.

bobby__johnny 02-09-2005 06:45 PM

usually if it hasnt cracked during the peroid of the warranty, it wasnt a manufacting defect. although that isnt always the case.

llama123 02-10-2005 10:59 AM

Just something i'm curious about...
With one of my cymbals, everytime I play it it always spins round and plays on one side (sort of thing?!). It doesn't matter much I suppose. I was just wondering though if this is due to one side/part of the cymbal which is heavier than the rest? Is this normal?

Thanks,
Tom

my cymbals sometimes do that, i've found that it tends to be the way that the stand is set-up

llama123 02-10-2005 12:11 PM

^ Ok then. Thanks for your help.
I'll have a mess around with my stands to see if i can prevent this. :)

just to say that today I went to my local drum store and I picked a AAX 15'' dark crash. It sound soooooooooooo good!! The 17'' sounded good also, but when I hit the 15'' I feel a little erection...

llama123 02-10-2005 01:54 PM
