Be easy on towniceman, he's from Canada
Just kidding. Anyways, I recently bought a CD which features "baroque" instruments playing some Beatles songs... its quite interesting. Does anyon else have something similar? |

Metallica has their own versions of beatles songs its called beatallica Im serious .
Except its a different band playing the songs. They're from Australia they are pretty interesting, there was a thread about them awhile ago. |
Cool. Its always interesting to hear other artists attempt to pull off Beatles songs (like the "I am Sam" soundtrack) but they rarely pull it off, unfortunately.
Though Rufus Wainwright did a cover of "Across the Universe" which I am quite fond of: probably the combination of Wainwright and the Beatles... excellent mix, in my opinion :thumb: |
**** You Junior I was around in that era I was listening to the music ,so don't talk down to me about the music ,it 's assholes like you that are too dense to have a original idea or opinion of your own , or understand my point that the beatles are'nt that original if you know what to listen for you will hear the american influence in there music.
You have to make point, The fact that you don't like them is not a point. |
A music shop downtown sells Moogs for $70. Because of Abbey Road its the best synthesized sound I'd ever heard (and the first electronic synth too)...would any of you invest in one for that price?

American or Canadian?

coming from a thrash metal fan.
The beatles are the greatest band ever. They deserve an official thread. They are legends amonst legends. |
^^^^^^^^^^^
agreed :). No matter how you slice it, even if you dislike the Beatles for whatever reason, you would still have to admit they are the greatest band... a few others come close (the Smiths anyone? just kidding, but... I like them :amaze: )... but no one surpasses the Beatles. |
I hope somewhere, someday, someone will surpass the Beatles... What a great day that will be, eh?
Musicians that bring a whole new spirit to the land, and spark a musical revolution that lasts for 40 years... It seems like everything is going to hell though since "The Man" bought everything involving music. Maybe there will be some seroius social/polictical/economic issues that will cause another counterculture uprising! Any Ideas? |

Hey Jude
Can someone please tell me about Hey Jude? I know it's one of their better songs... It was on the album "Hey Jude". (correct me if i'm wrong). When did hey jude (album/single) come out in the scheme of things? what songs did it have on it? |
I dont really agree actually...... Bono was the fifth beatle. They were really more a skiffle band from the 1980's. A mersey beat group from ireland. Lennon always said that it was better to not be irish and to stay at home in bed..... you know... "Bed Peace" But really it was Bono who made the Beatles. Without Bono no one would even know who Elvis is. I mean... COME ON! It's the BEATLES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!
|
I'm 99.9% sure that "Hey Jude" was a b-side.
|
a b-side to what single?
|
Hey Jude was not a b side dumbass. It was on the album called HEY JUDE. Ringo was a good drummer, he just couldn't read music. He played to fit the music, which is more than we can say about most modern day drummers. John had the best solo career. They're later stuff was better... namely because it was more complicated, and Bob Dylan introduced them to more in depth lyrics and drugs. The early stuff was good too. YOU'RE RIGHT! ITS CATCHY! Excellent hooks. That cant be taught... its all instinct. Sergent peppers, while revolutionary was NOT their best album ( And not the first concept album. That was Pet Sounds by the "beach boys" George Harrison was phenominal. Paul, though a bit of an ***, was a sweet bass player (Dear Prudence IS the one to check out). John hated the sound of his own voice. Yoko DID NOT break apart the band. Let it be Naked WAS NOT A STUDIO ALBUM!!! IT WAS A STRIPPED DOWN LIVE OFF THE FLOOR ALBUM! The original tapes of the let it be session. Ringo is NOT dead. You can see John playing in the Bath in the movie "A Hard Days Night" (Best part of the whole freakin thing) Yes, they couldnt act. Ringo wasn't the VOICE of the conductor on Thomas the Tank engine.... HE WAS THE CONDUCTOR. The White album is awsome. Heck.... they're all awsome. There was a guy in the band before they were the Beatles who couldnt actually play guitar... he just stood there with one because he wanted to be in the band. Ringo was funny. John was the leader. Paul IS Sir Paul McCarntney... BUT his first name isn't Paul. It's James. Johns middle name was Winston.... but he changed it to Ono when got married. Brian Epstien (thats their manager...) commited suicide. Revolution 9 is all tape loops...... It's interesting from a studio point of veiw and actually quite complicated and impressive. They were the FIRST band to use tape loops AND backwards guitar (cause it is a tape loops!) AND the Sitar in the western world.... IT WASNT THE STONES!.. god bless their souls, but it wasnt them. The Beatles have two stories for where they got their name..... 1) The Beatles a spoof off of buddy holly's Crickets... spelt with an A in "beetles" to make the word "Beat" directly mentioning the Beat poets (if you dont know what that is... you never will) 2) (Lennons version) "Well I had this dream and a man came to me on a flaming pie and said 'you're going to be the beatles.... with an a' " For proof check out McCartneys album "Off the Ground " and the liner notes on the song "Flaming pie" 3 words... "the Butcher cover"... an early protest to the Vietnam war which became the album Beatles 65'... which features the band on the cover sitting nicely with umbrellas.... instead of pieces of meat and broken dolls (The "Butcher cover" was recalled in the first week and is very rare.) one more thing....
ANYONE WHO SAYS THEYRE MUSIC IS SIMPLE........... Try. Just TRY notating note for note one of they're later peices. I suggest starting with Chords... then drums, bass..... work it up from there. Oh and a warning..... Not everythings in four four. Also they borrow chords. For example in the key of C (I'll try and keep this simple but I'm using 7th chords here) there is Cmaj7 Dmin7 Emin7 Fmaj7 G7 Amin7 and Bmin7(b5) they would use those and then take more from lets say.... G maj. so there you have Gmaj7 Amin7 Bmin7 Cmaj7 D7 Emin7 and F#min7(b5) So in otherwords..... theyd take say.... C F and G from the C scale and D7 and F#min7(b5) from G. FOR ANYONE WHOS STILL READING! That is why they sounded so different. They were the FIRST band to hit America in the First wave british invasion carrying with them the classical chord structures they had grown up with, mushed into a rock n' roll beat. Frickin awsome. Anyone who can copy their post Dylan influenced music exactly..... kudos to you cause it's really REALLY hard. Now.... could we please talk about Bono. |

Ermm I don't have any problem talking about Bono... but this is the Beatles thread. Go start a U2 thread (if there are none lying around), and I'll be happy to discuss with you.

(british album) |
It isn't on a British album (to my knowledge), it was just released as a single.
But you can find it on numerous "best of..." albums (such as "1") |
Was that Bono guy trying to show off his Beatles knowledge or something? He knows a lot and all, but show it off when pertaining to a certain conversation. And no talking about Bono, it is a Beatles thread.
If anyone has the 1 album, they kind find what record it was off of. Just look in the information booklet, and it'll tell what album each song was off of. |
I own the blue album compilation, and I listen to it all the time :p I really love the beatles. I was considering buying some albums (I.E. Sergent pepper's lonely hearts club band, abbey road, revolver, and maybe a few others) but I'm not sure if it's worth it considering I already own that previously-mentioned compilation :p
