Do any of your parents like Sabbath? My mom went to 3 Sabbath concerts, so whenever people are talking about moms(for some odd reason) I get to bragg... Just felt like sharing that useless piece of info.

ToRidTheDisease 11-11-2004 04:59 PM

Hey, where can I get more Vinyl's?

So far I have these Sabbath albums: Mob Rules, Master of Reality, Heaven and Hell, We Sold Our Soul For Rock 'N' Roll.

That's where I got almost all of my Sabbath albums from.

Brew 11-11-2004 05:02 PM

Look out for second hand music shops, they normally stock cheap and good quality vinyl.

And my dad got me into Sabbath, both my parents went to see them on the Never Say Die! tour and my mum bought Blizzard of Ozz on vinyl, which I now have.

Both my olds are into rock, my dad's seen loads of bands like Judas Priest, The Scorpions, Metallica w/Cliff Burton, Iron Maiden when they were first starting out - supporting Samson (Bruce's band before Maiden), Ozzy w/Randy Rhoads, AC/DC, Thin Lizzy etc...he went to quite alot of the old Monsters of Rock festivals.

Brew 11-11-2004 05:08 PM

We Sold our Soul...is basicly a compilation of the first 5 albums, songs that I remember being on there are:

Black Sabbath
The Wizard
N.I.B
Sleeping Village/The Warning
Paranoid
Iron Man
Fairies Wear Boots
Laguna Sunrise
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Children of the Grave
Snowblind
Sweet Leaf
War Pigs
Changes
Am I Going Insane (Radio)

Poopers, I was beaten to it.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-11-2004 05:09 PM

So it's like greatest hits?

ToRidTheDisease 11-11-2004 05:10 PM
So it's like greatest hits?
Basically.

Brew 11-11-2004 05:10 PM

Also, the (Radio) on the end of Am I Going Insane doesn't mean its the radio-edit, there was only ever one version of the song. I'm not 100% sure why they put (radio) at the end of it.

ToRidTheDisease 11-11-2004 05:26 PM

Maybe it's just the title of the song? Sometimes bands do things like that, doesn't make much sense though.

JACKROXYOU 11-11-2004 05:50 PM

yea i saw that and it's not edited or shortened and it's the same everywhere

i got this shop at Katy Mills which sells good vinyl

sabbathfan37 11-11-2004 05:51 PM
/me adds more details.

Geezer got given a book all about Witchcraft, Black Magic etc...and he kept it locked away in a cupboard. One night he saw the black figure at the end of his bed, got scared almost to the point of pooping himself (ok, maybe I made that bit up), and then got rid of everything to do with Satan in his room. When he checked to see if the book was still in its cupboard the next morning, it had vanished.

Not long afte, he wrote the lyric ''What is this, that stands before me. Figure in black, which points at me'', which was related to his experience.

And on the topic of film/song/band name, the song Black Sabbath came first, they named the band after the song. I believe the song was named after the film Black Sabbath.
wow. nice addition. i didnt know that the song came first. nor did I know about the book that vanished. very nice.

ToRidTheDisease 11-11-2004 05:55 PM

What is everyone's favorite Sabbath riff?

Mine is Electric Funeral.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-11-2004 06:03 PM

N.I.B. has a pretty sweet riff.

ToRidTheDisease 11-11-2004 10:04 PM

I just perfected the intro of N.I.B., kick *** song.

shadow_stalker 11-12-2004 11:43 AM

bastardsloth 11-12-2004 12:11 PM

IMO one of black sabbaths song, and one of the most relaxing songs ever, is planet caravan. I could just get stoned and listen to that for days.

^METAL^MANIAC^666^ 11-12-2004 12:32 PM

TerryThorne 11-12-2004 12:55 PM

Geezers lyrics have to be some of the greatest of all time. Especially in songs like War Pigs and Electric Funeral

I've gotten stoned listening to that song :)

Check out the songs Fluff and Laguna Sunrise, they're both pretty relaxing instrumentals.

And my fav. riff?

Er...hmm...

In no order:

Neon Knights
Air Dance
Supernaut
Iron Man
Wheels of Confusion
War Pigs

sabbathfan37 11-12-2004 05:17 PM
What is everyone's favorite Sabbath riff?

hard one. I'd go with supernaut or into the void. after forever is good too.
O.K. enough 'favorites' questions!-

Any black sabbath songs that arent that good?

Brew 11-12-2004 05:18 PM

Classic Rock magazine say to stay away from the Born Again album, but from what I've heard its not so bad.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-12-2004 05:20 PM

What Sabbath song do you guys think has the best solo?

Brew 11-12-2004 05:33 PM

The Warning.
N.I.B
Computer God
Die Young

There's probably more, but my brain is asleep.

You seem like a pretty hardcore Sabbath fan, I have yet to hear some of the songs you've mentioned in this thread.
You seem like a pretty hardcore Sabbath fan, I have yet to hear some of the songs you've mentioned in this thread.
Hehe.

They're my fav. band, I'm going to get all the albums one day, so far I've got from Black Sabbath to Live Evil.

ToRidTheDisease 11-12-2004 07:10 PM

I just realized something awesome, on the song paranoid on the we sold our souls for rock n roll, if you play the last part backwards, it sounds like it says: ozzy is a dead man.

s0ldsoul4roknrol 11-12-2004 07:40 PM

I got to check that out some time.
