Dragonforce is a popular PM band right, what are some good songs or albums and what do they sound like?

I really liked it. I've never had the chance to watch them before, not even in a video clip! Athough some personal favourite songs were missing I enjoyed the whole show (no need to mention that the set, the cameras, the sound was very good).

I was curious about they way the would perform the vocals especially in some certain songs like another holy war for example. Of course the live versions differ a lot but this is where the point is.

The highlights were: the bards song, almost entirely sung by the fans (who had perfect timing and were in tune as Andre said), Mirror Mirror (traditionally) and then Valhalla...People kept siging "Valhalla - Why've you ever forgotten me" even after the end of the song! They stucked, they didnt know how to stop them :lol: ! It was the ultimate hit of the night!

Hansi was talking to the fans between the songs (not much though) in german so I couldnt understand him :(. Thankfully the extras (LOTS of interesting and funny stuff) had subtitles.

It's a subjective matter of course but in overall I'm very satisfied and it worth my 25 euros.

Dragonforce = Jpop with teh drum machine gone crazy.

Just heard Dragonforce and this is exactly what I wanted, new music that kicks ***.

I need an album to order (literally need - I have to provide an alternative, as one of my first choices wasn't in stock). I'd like something of a "metal that screams 'metal'" style. My first choices were Goat Horn (which he doesn't have), Manowar (which aren't eligible in the sale) and Tad Morose (which are temporarily out of stock). Suggestions based on that, please?

I guess Judas Priest, not sure if you have any or not but I'd say Screaming for Vengeance
BTW has anyone heard of the band Falconer, they're really good.

My dad just brought me Hammerfall: One Crimson Night back from work because he's borrowing it off his friend, from what I've heard so far its pretty good.

For Dragonforce's Uk tour, Fourwaykill may be supporting at the Bristol show.

My favorite would be Power quest. Recently got there Neverworld CD, which combines current power metal sounds with influences such as Europe and Aldo Nova.

Also wanted to mention that Dragonforce, Edguy, Nightwish, Dream Evil and Pagan's Mind are some of my favorite bands already mentioned.

hey guys, i havent seen sonata arctica, helloween, and ive only seen hammerfall once..but i havent exactly look at many pages lol..but yea, i like all three of them and stratovarious and other metal bands. Dont know whether they are power metal though...

Man no wonder I couldn't find Imaginations Through the Looking Glass, it's not out in the US yet :lol: ...... :angry:

That DVD must be mine. Blind Guardian is a strong influence on me musically.

And if I'm not mistaken, they said their next album will be based on the Dragonlance novels.

Now that I've seen all the bands talked about here, it makes me sad that I've sworn off file-sharing for the sake of financial and legal security. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to get a job during Christmas break.

This week, I'm planning to pre-order Rhapsody's new album. I can't wait to hear it. Their sound has evolved noticeably in such a short span of time, so it's pretty exciting to think of where they're heading.

Isnt Pantera power metal to?

Pantera is not power metal. I always thought of them as more of a thrash band, but they're one of those groups that really don't belong in any particular genre.

Power metal is typically defined by a tight sense of melody, usually a strongly epic feel and often with sword and sorcery lyrics. A lot of power metal bands use a lot of double bass drumming, and the ones I'm familiar with have some sort of classical or global influences.

None of those bands are power metal either. Black Sabbath is classic metal, Metallica was thrash, and Iron Maiden are NWOBHM.

Though Iron Maiden were a sgnificant influence on early power metal bands along with Ronnie James Dio.

Yes they did, and Everygrey were openers. I caught that show at NYC for free. :D

Evergrey were awful when i saw them, the whole crowd were glad to see them leave and let Children of Bodom steal the show away from Iced Earth :) hehe

i get on Rhapsody binges now and then, Rage of the Winter has been stuck in my head for days now! as well as Dawn of Victory! lol

Just today I've gone on a Nightwish binge. Sacrament of Wilderness is one of my favorite songs ever. The only way to describe it is achingly beautiful.

Nightwish are mezmorizng at times, such a fantastic group.

Ive been really into "Symphorce" "Seven Witches" and "Heavenly" as of late.
