Banjos are one difficult instrument, I've been playing mine for a few moths and it's just hard to progress. |
i absolutely love bluegrass. especially banjos. coollest instrument ever.
Yea, you can't go wrong with bands like String Cheese, Yonder Mountain, Leftover Salmon, Bela Fleck, Old & In The Way, David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Norman Blake, etc... These are just some varous bluegrass players/bands off the top of my head and I love them all. YAY!!!! |
are banjos similar to play compared with guitars?
DVG. |
Banjos are one difficult instrument, I've been playing mine for a few months and it's just hard to progress.
Seeing what badmoon said I'm guessing it's hard. |
i dont listen to any modern rock bands... except for the darkness, only because they sound like classic rock... there is only 1 downside of being a classic rock fan, you wont be able to see very many of your favorite bands live. id pay anything to see a zeppelin concert. im really into classic punk too, like the ramones or the sex pistols.
favorite classic rock bands: led zeppelin pink floyd van halen ac/dc the doors deep purple guns n roses jimi hendrix kiss black sabbath and ozzy osbourne who aerosmith rush queen... and more not only do i like classic rock... but i like listening to it on vinyl... and that was way before my time. i prefer LPs over cds dont ask me why. |
Old & In The Way,
Yes!! Wonderful band.
are banjos similar to play compared with guitars? DVG.
To a minor degree. For instance you usually finger pick, and some use finger picks some don't. The banjo also many choices of strings 4-12, I believ. I have a 5 string. So, there are not huge difference but enough to say there are, and enough for a musician to be good at the guitar but bad at the Banjo. |

Yess, Yess!! Welcome to the Rock & Metal exclusive Classic Rock cult. |
When I'm not listening to fusion, classical rock is being played in my mp3 cd player...
Modern rock just lacks something when compared to Zep or Floyd. |
Yess, Yess!! Welcome to the Rock & Metal exclusive Classic Rock cult.
Hey maybe we should start a sort of classic rock clan like the titans of thrash. |
Yes it will have to be exclusive, which would mean it can only so far be the following. Me, You(RnotR), Frail, Bonzo, and Vodoochild, because we are the regulars.
They will have to agree and then someone should come up with a name. |
yeah teenagers are listening to it alot more now. because of bands like the darkness are trying to like bring it back and get metal rule the world again
remember kids burn em all |
Ok, im a Queen freak...i probley listen a full Queen album at least once a day. what albums and songs by them do you guys like....if you need any suggestions just ask! Also, what band member do you think writes some of their best work...my pick is John Deacon.
|
what about Bob Dylan. It's more folk rock, but calssic rock nonetheless. That guy can jam on the harmonica...

/me gasps. That's a uber-cool idea.
what about Bob Dylan. It's more folk rock, but calssic rock nonetheless. That guy can jam on the harmonica...
Ah, Bob Dylan. I consider him as one of the greatest musicians ever. He has contributed so much to music and a lot of bands/musicians wouldn't have been the same without him, i.e Beatles. His voice was amazing and unique as was his harp and guitar playing. His song-writing skills were undescribeable(sp?). Overall he was jsut an amazing person in the music world. I'm a BIG BIG BIG fan of his and I think everybody is thankful of what he brought to us, the listeners. Bob Dylan, God bless you. |

We have talked about him in this thread. I love him, he's such a great songwriter. |
a clan would be awesome. i can't think of a cool sounding name though.
i agree with voodoochild, bob dylan was uber talented. his talents for arrangement never cease to amaze me, and he can even sing when he wants to, like on the hurricane...great song! |
hey rocknotroll, i just realized where ur name is from! and why it took this long i have no clue, but i think it's from the line in stairway, "to be a rock and not to roll" correct me if i'm wrong, but if i'm right that's an awesome origin. if anyone gets an idea for a clan name just throw em in.
what would be your favorite dylan songs? i love the hurricane, like a rolling stone, just like a woman, leopard skin pillbox hat, and rainy day woman #12 and 35. my favorite albums would be either highway 61 or blonde on blonde. |
Congrads.... *hands you a ribbon*. First person to get it :thumb:
*is still thinking of a name* It can't be anything uber cheesey like titans of classic rock or anything. |
YES i am a genius!
so who here is a sly stone fan? i love everyday people, thank you fallettineme be mice elf agin, stand, m'lady, i want to take you higher, and you can make it if you try. that's some great upbeat music there. i just listen to him and i'm happy. o and i forgot hot fun in the summertime, silly me |
*is still thinking of a name* It can't be anything uber cheesey like titans of classic rock or anything.
Eureka!!!! How about "The Titans of the Rock that is Classic" No, that sucks a lot. |
lol but we're all in on this right?
|
Umm yes... Anyhow I think I thought up of good name. "MX Band of Gypsies" How bout it fellers. Hendrix's second rhythm section. I think it's alright.
|
I like it. That's all we have for right now. Once we think of more names we can put it to a vote.
|
Here's some more names I came up with(some (or all) of them might be really cheesy):
"MX Lizard Kings" "MX Children of (the) Floyd" "MX Warlocks" "MX Old & In The Way" "MX Midnight Riders" "MX Jokers" "MX Day Trippers" "MX make something up too cause all of mine suck probably" |
"mx old farts" "mx classic kids" (might work with a bit of a tweak) "mx Woodstockers" "mx classic rock horde* (nah but it's worth throwing in) Why can't we be a death metal clan? We would already have something along the lines of "mx death mongers" or some foolishness like that. |
Someone mentioned the James Gang, I have their song Funk 49(I think?) from the Forced Listening thread... rest assured Ive minidisced it and what a song! Any more recommendations?
Yeah, you probably did that off of my recomendation.
my favorite albums would be either highway 61 or blonde on blonde.
Good picks :thumb:, but I don't see why everyone loves Highway 61 Revisited, I just think it is okay. Bring it all Back Home not that's were it's at. |
"MX Day Trippers"
"MX Midnight Riders"
Those are good ones. |
Exactly, no bands names. If we have something like Children of (the) Floyd everybody's favorite band would hae to be pink floyd.
|
so i know many of u prob don't share my opinion on this, but i love motown. for some reason i just love that sound. particularly marvin gaye, the temptations, the four tops, smokey robinson and the miracles, and of course stevie wonder.
as for names, yea lose the mx. here's a few of my bad ones, yea i just took random songs Uncle John's Band (from the dead song, duh) Strange Brew (the cream song) Traveling Band (the ccr song) Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (my favorite one) Riders on the Storm (the doors song) |
