Seafroggys 12-25-2005 11:32 PM

Okay here's my CD booty of the season:

Hard Day's Night (Beatles)
Closer to Home (Grand Funk Railroad)
Quadrophenia (Who)
Master of Puppets (Metallica)
Cream Reunion Albert Hall (I already have the DVD, but oh well)

pretty good I think.....Closer to Home is SUCH a good album, so underrated.

magicbus 12-25-2005 11:34 PM

Man, Clapton is so much on drugs on the Concert For Bangladesh. Sucks.

Seafroggys, would you recommend the Cream Reunion dvd? I have some gift cards to use still.

PinkFreud 12-25-2005 11:48 PM

the cream reunions concert is very good. especially since there's so little live video of them in their prime. or at least i havent found much. the reunion dvd is great, even if theyre old.

Glitterati 12-25-2005 11:49 PM
there's so little live video of them in their prime.
Yeah, considering they were around for like two years in the '60s. They didn't even have cameras back then. They had to look at them playing then smash the image into a stone block.

PinkFreud 12-25-2005 11:51 PM

yes. they took pictures with a quill and parchment too. just like in harry potter!

i have the farewell dvd. its ok, too much talking, not enough playing. haha.

Lunch 12-25-2005 11:54 PM

I have Strange Brew, overall it's pretty good. I thought the documentary aspect of it was interesting.

magicbus 12-26-2005 12:00 AM

I like Strange Brew, but I wish it would include the full version of "Politician". The beginning is soooooo badass on that concert, and then they don't show the rest. :(

Glitterati 12-26-2005 12:14 AM

Supertramp is very cool.

Leper 12-26-2005 12:39 AM

With that last statement EightMilesHigh has officially become one of my favourite people.:)

JonG 12-26-2005 12:39 AM

I hate Supertramp.

you dirty tramp

magicbus 12-26-2005 12:44 AM

I don't know them.

Here's what's on my mp3 player so far:

Frank Zappa - Waka/Jawaka
Syd Barrett - The Madcap Laughs
The Band - Music From Big Pink
Neil Young - On The Beach
The Beatles - Rubber Soul

I think I'll put on some Miles Davis and George Harrison.

Leper 12-26-2005 12:47 AM
I hate Supertramp.

you dirty tramp
How come? ..Or are you just trying to get me riled up?..

JonG 12-26-2005 12:47 AM

How much can it hold?

I just don't like them. ^^

I finally got a digital camera..I could post pics..

I might take a pic of all my vinyls.

:)

Leper 12-26-2005 12:57 AM

Well don't worry Jon you're still one of my favourite people regardless:)lol.

How many vinyls do you have?

JonG 12-26-2005 01:00 AM

Atleast over 1,000.

blue3 12-26-2005 01:03 AM

Wow.. That's awesome. I have 2. :upset:

magicbus 12-26-2005 01:04 AM

I have two also. Pink Floyd - Meddle and my dad's old copy of the White Album.

blue3 12-26-2005 01:09 AM

My dad has no vinyl. Just a lot of tapes, which sucks. I have Dark Side of the Moon and Double Fantasy.

Leper 12-26-2005 01:25 AM

I think I have around 50. I WAS pretty proud of that..

Glitterati 12-26-2005 01:53 AM
With that last statement EightMilesHigh has officially become one of my favourite people.:)
w00t

Maybe sometime this week, I could send out a Supertramp greatest hits for those who wanted it.

Leper 12-26-2005 02:02 AM

Please do for those not in the know. We must spread their greatness.

Woodstock 12-26-2005 09:26 AM
Same. I'm finally wrapping it all up. I've edited them all to perfection, and added so you can see the album cover while it plays.

How exactly do you do that?

robo2448 12-26-2005 10:02 AM

Christmas was pretty awesome. I finally got CSNY- Deja Vu:D. Can't stop listening to it, it's awesome. I've needed this for a really, really long time.

Along with everyone else, I got the Cream Reunion Concert DVD.

Also got-
Forrest Gump soundtrack
13th Floor Elevators- Psychadelic Sounds Of...
The Kinks- Village Green
Bruce Springsteen- Tunnel of Love
Neil Young- Tonight's the Night
RHCP- Greatest Hits
ZZ Top- Greatest Hits

Lots of money to buy more too.

Edit- I don't like Supertramp. I had their Greatest hits but didn't like it and deleted it.

Edit 2- I got my brother some Zeppelin for Christmas and he seems to be getting into classic rock. Even if I dislike Zeppelin, I can't deny their talent as a gateway classic rock band.
How exactly do you do that?
i dont have a photo ipod but i know you can add the cover art to itunes. i assume you just do that and then upload it onto your ipod.

temporary 12-26-2005 10:56 AM

So, anyone want to check out my review of Blow by Blow on Sputnik?

My Christmas was most excellent, although I bizarly got absolutely nothing CR related. But all my reletives give me oodles of cash, so thats how I'll spend it.

gmoneyguy 12-26-2005 10:58 AM

Not really

So how are my classic rocl brethren on this fine morning

Illmatic 12-26-2005 11:02 AM
So, anyone want to check out my review of Blow by Blow on Sputnik?
I was gonna review it :-\

This Miles Davis album is fantastic.

NP: Miles Davis - Great Expectations

edit: your review suffers from worshipping...too many uses of the word 'brilliant', and it doesn't sound very objective

temporary 12-26-2005 11:09 AM

All apologies.

What Miles Davis album is it?

Illmatic 12-26-2005 11:16 AM

Big Fun.

Badmoon 12-26-2005 11:18 AM

I just listened to If I Should Fall from the Grace with God.

Fantastic album

Illmatic 12-26-2005 11:52 AM
How does it compare to his other great albums? I've never heard Big Fun and I'm always willing to listen to more Miles...is it as good as Sketches Of Spain, Porgy & Bess, and his other classics?
It's really nothing like Porgy & Bess or Sketches Of Spain, it was released in 1974 and recorded between 1969 and 1972. It is one of his fusion works, but it's more straightforward than Bitches Brew or In A Silent Way (and maybe a little 'weirder' than A Tribute to Jack Johnson)...it is like 'normal' fusion in that it does settle into a consistent groove (which is kinda disappointing, because I really want to hear Billy Cobham just go wild on drums) but it is definitely, more 'out there' than most fusion.

PinkFreud 12-26-2005 12:01 PM

if you want to hear cobham go wild, buy or download his solo album "spectrum." fantastic drumming on it.

Illmatic 12-26-2005 12:08 PM

I have that, and the Mahavishnu Orchesta album Birds of Fire, those two albums are what got my hopes up for stuff that Cobham drums on.

PinkFreud 12-26-2005 12:22 PM

inner mounting flame has better drumming than birds of fire. do you want me to up it?

Illmatic 12-26-2005 12:24 PM

I guess.

BlackDeathMetalJazz or really ANYTHING else please- 12-26-2005 01:39 PM

I can't into Mahavishnu Orchesta, they're just so god damn cheesy. I guess I respect them though.

Ray: No clue what in the hell you're talking about! I think the Beatles released the strongest string of albums ever by a Rock band, all of their later albums are just simply incredible (starting with Rubber Soul). Almost all of the songs were good through this string of albums, sure there were songs like "Good Morning, Good Morning" and "Birthday" but these songs shouldn't over wiegh the great. To each as own I guess but I don't know how in the hell you can't like all of the later Beatles albums.

You can't tell me birthday was not a good song.

I hated it.

Welcome back, you feel the hurricane at all?

Glad to hear you're alright. So what do you listen to now-a-days? Still in the Classic Rock swing or have you got swepted in the black hole that is Metal?

I got 13$, woundering what to buy.....I'm thinking Miles.
