Rob is a good bassist, he just won't fit as good as Cliff did. It looks as if Metallica will sound better with Rob than Jason though.
@ Pepsimetal: Both SOAD & Metallica are bland boring and aren't very talented. Though I'd actually prefer some SOAD over most tallica
Meh, the only thing Soad is better is with vocals. There's no way James can match Serj. But everything else is better in metallica.

Josh 06-07-2006 03:08 PM

i like St. Anger.
i like Bodom as well, and i like AYDY as well :p

fair enough, compared to what the band have achieved in the past, it's crap, but compared to other bands, it's still good music, and that's what matters to me.

i like the sound they had with Jason, plus i just think Jason was cool.

TEST 06-07-2006 03:27 PM

The thing I hated most on St Anger. Alright. I can deal with the vocals. (even though I'm a nazi when it comes to clear vocal quality). The snare drum = tin can . That's just annoying.

Josh 06-07-2006 03:31 PM

meh, i just trained myself to accept it as part of the music. if you can get past the production, it's really not a bad album. although the lyrics are nowhere near as good as they have been in the past, eg. on Invisible Kid. that song's good, but gets very repetitive.

Do you mean now or in general?

Hetfield's voice from RTL->pretty much Load(especially up to Black Album) was much more badass then Serj's stupid bipolar crap.:thumb:

Now james' voice is way different, but I just cant stand soad in the first place.

Kyle 06-07-2006 04:42 PM

Serj's actual voice is better in my oppinion, shame his stage prescence is piss poor.

Why is everyone getting a hard cock just because Rob played Orion, is it supposed to be amazingly difficult or something?

No its just that jasons version of the little section they rarely played live was boring awhile rob's was more true to the original, plus they played the whole song.:thumb:

1. I think it shows that Metallica have finally accepted Cliff's death.
2. It shows that Metallica has a lot of confidence in Rob(amazing musician), that means he's probably having a lot of work on the new album and the freedom to write.

Sadbutrue16 06-07-2006 05:09 PM

ive been saying for a long time people don't like St. Anger becuase its lame compared to their older stuff. St. Anger is a good album for what it is.

Tyler 06-07-2006 05:13 PM

Is there a video of him playing Orion?

Lionheart1827 06-07-2006 05:14 PM
Is there a video of him playing Orion?
I have the rip of the live stream in high quality of the entire show. It's 400mb and in realplayer format.:smoke:

Eh, I can kinda understand. It's just weird that soo many people got excited about the Orion bass section, but noone really cares if Kirk plays the Fade to Black solo differently or something.

I know some people say that doing it exactly like the record is boring 'cause you've already heard it that way a billion times, and live is better. And others say that studio is better cause they play a more structured, thought out solo, instead of just pentatonic wankage. I'm not specifically talking about Metallica, just that situation in general.

I did like it when he played Kirk's last solo on bass though, that was unexpected and cool. He did a good job on that, and I'm liking the facial hair.

Actually, that's the original bass solo.

People confuse the bass interlude with a solo, and confuse the bass solo with a guitar solo.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 06:34 PM

Well I'm pretty sure it's a guitar solo on MoP but I'll watch it again.

Fukk, they've taken it down.

heavy metal kid 06-07-2006 06:36 PM

oh sorry, my mistake, i thought you were talking about Orion.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 06:40 PM

I was, I meant the part I'm talking about is a guitar solo on the Mop, the album version. The only reason I'm so sure is that I've played that solo on guitar loads of times and I recognised it, and then saw Rob playing it. At least I THINK I heard correctly, I only watched it once.

heavy metal kid 06-07-2006 06:59 PM

From 6:33 to 6:45 is pure bass soloing, from 6:45 to 6:55 is bass soloing+guitar.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 07:28 PM

Link?

I tryed the one on the other page and they've taken it down.

Unless you're talking about the album version.

MRDuCran 06-07-2006 07:50 PM

Ok on the live version, it's the bit at 6:12. I swear that's a guitar solo on the album.

Me and my buds were actually planning on flying to London (from California) too see Download this year. That would have been so fun. Unfortunately, it gets in the way of our graduation.

No it is cliff trust me I can see how people get confused since his Wah sound is very similiar to that of an electric guitar wah

pandoraa 06-08-2006 06:24 AM

who has heard the new song? opinion's?

Skit 06-08-2006 06:40 AM

Yep its cliff at around 6.35 (album) playing the solo.
He also plays the intro and a lead part about a minuite after, and of course the interlude.

Kyle 06-08-2006 07:15 AM
who has heard the new song? opinion's?
we talked about it quite a lot a few pages back, so look there. But I really quite like it now, despite the poor vocal melody.

ville-valo666 06-08-2006 07:30 AM

St. anger was the worst album metallica ever made i think, when they made load they started going downhill from their.
