atlas sound- let the blind lead those who can see but cannot feel

listening to this for the first time in a while and idk i guess this album has some cool tracks but I feel like it could be a lot better. tracks 2 and 3 are really good, if he expanded on those ideas i think the album would be a lot cooler, i like the sound of "recent bedroom" alot. but deerhunter is definitely better.

bah

do you listen to his other stuff?

cbmartinez 08-16-2008 12:19 AM

the only other one i have is viva hate but its fantastic. "i dont mind if you forget me" is another favorite of mine.

cbmartinez 08-16-2008 12:20 AM

what one should i get next?

Jacaranda 08-16-2008 12:26 AM

well it depends.
you'd probably should get either vauxhall and i next for more of a viva hate type album or bona drag

basically by the end of the year you should get vauxhall and i, bona drag and your arsenal

best tracks: speedway, now my heart is full and why don't you find out for yourself from vauxhall
last of the international playboys, lucky lisp, suedehead and disappointed from bona drag
you're gonna need someone on your side, glamorous glue and national front disco from your arsenal

if you wanted to invest time into this listen to those songs get that album. or just buy all three. can't go wrong.

cbmartinez 08-16-2008 12:33 AM

im going to get all of his albums by the end of the year no doubt but yeah i was looking up reviews on all of his stuff on wikipedia today. also one of my friends reccomended bona drag. hes a genius though none of his solo work ive heard thus far has touched the magnitude of the smiths. thanks for all the reccomendations though!

Jacaranda 08-16-2008 12:34 AM

at his best solo i think he tops the smiths

but that might just be because i've heard every smiths songs nine thousand times and his slightly less.
jacaranda idk man you are the quarry is pretty amazing front to back
i enjoy it a lot too but its just too loud. sound wise there is too much guitar etc and the mix is just louder. plus at live shows thats all he plays anymore and i want more of the classics.
V&I = Bona Drag > Viva Hate = Your Arsenal >> Quarry >> Ringleader
in terms of albums even to mention.

first of the gang to die and william it was really nothing were the two songs that got me into the smiths/morrissey.

Little Man being Erased 08-17-2008 03:22 AM

Lightspeed Champion - Falling Off the Lavender Bridge

I love this album.
