Hardly what I'd call a 'problem' :p

big80smullet 02-06-2008 01:49 AM

Amarok is a good program. It can be difficult to sync with ipods but as long as you have the right Libs installed you are ok. Its waaay better than itunes

1338 h4x0r 02-06-2008 01:51 AM

I haven't got an ipod, only a regular old music-playing usb flash drive, so I wouldn't know yet...

big80smullet 02-06-2008 01:55 AM

dont get an ipod tbh. the system they use to archive their files is a bitch to try and use with linux. Im just lucky i have an old mac that i use cause its way easier to just put songs on my portableHD and then plug into my mac and then transfer that way rather then try and get the ipod to work on linux. It works fine on GTKpod but its **** and unreliable tbh

1338 h4x0r 02-06-2008 02:01 AM

I guess a dell mp3 player (for example) is a better choice.

My current guy is really easy to use anywhere.

123.

Chris, I'd reccomend a 4GB D2 for $160 off Amazon.

If you want more space you could also look for an X5 (you may have to get one off ebay though).

gmoneyguy 02-06-2008 08:19 AM

$90 more and you can get a 80gb iPod

big80smullet 02-06-2008 08:26 AM

except they dont play wma, flac, or ogg. and they dont work well with linux or non itunes which is the whole point of the conversation. do keep up brian. you apple whore

gmoneyguy 02-06-2008 08:29 AM

iTunes automatically converts them.

big80smullet 02-06-2008 08:32 AM

not OGG or FLAC cause mac doesnt even recognise them. At least mine doesnt. Hell my laptop wont even recognise data DVDs

fagget apple laptop. if it werent free...

gmoneyguy 02-06-2008 08:33 AM

lol, where are you getting those files from? I only run into mp3 and m4as

big80smullet 02-06-2008 08:37 AM

its what linux automaticly converts them to. i could use audacity to convert them in about 2 seconds or just get a codec in about a minute but tbh they all work on my computer so i can live with some songs not being on my ipod. Mostly older CDs though.

Also FLAC is lossless

gmoneyguy 02-06-2008 08:54 AM

hmm.... isn't being lossless indiscernible?

big80smullet 02-06-2008 08:57 AM

eh i dunno.

Well it depends. If you don't need the space then you're saving $90. If you use Linux you'll probably want something non-apple.

If I didn't have over 50 gigs of music and/or didn't need to have my library with me I'd get a D2.

big80smullet 02-06-2008 09:07 AM

Its all what you want from your player. IM fine with my nano i got for christmas. Its got enough tunes to get me through a car journey and i swap the tunes pretty regular

publicastration 02-06-2008 09:09 AM

yeah I know.

I have an 80 gig ipod though and I love it.

I lol at all the pathetic people clicking away on their players. Honestly the click wheel is the best innovation of any mp3 player imo.

It's funny because a year ago I was an apple hater. But I think they finally got it right with the Classic, just the little changes like the awesome battery life, updated interface, and no more plastic.

gmoneyguy 02-06-2008 09:26 AM
