both of them suck
i try to pretend that he didn't release anything after filosofem |
I like both, but Belus was better
|
i hadnt listened to any of the new burzum albums (the last two) on purpose but by chance today i listened to a track from fallen and lol wow it's so fucking awful
I had much higher expectations for those two albums. Heard a lot of bad shit about them but finally decided to give a listen to them a short time ago and fuck they're horrible.. I will say Belus is slightly better, if that counts for anything. Pretty sure I'll stick to Hvis Lyset and Det Som for the rest of time. |
the first 2 songs on belus are fuckin awesome
|
what other burzum albums are really good besides filosofem
|
hvis lyset tar oss
|
I listened to Fallen 1.5 times and I couldn't do it anymore.
Belus is better but not by much. |
the self-titled is raw as fuk
|
okay gonna get hvis lyset tar oss and the self-titled then
|
first song on hvis lyset is the ultimate song to nod out to
|
I'm pretty partial to Det Som Engang Var, but yea...Burzum/Aske, Det Som, Hvis...only shit worth getting. Everything was downhill after that.
@blockhead |
first song on hvis lyset is the ultimate song to nod out to
i'll listen to it as soon as it downloads. black metal is great for nodding off. listening to march to the black holocaust and doing that right now actually |
surprised you're into that sam. mttbh i mean
|
both of them suck
i try to pretend that he didn't release anything after filosofem
same det som engang var is my favourite blockhead, you should give that a listen. pretty everything before his electronic stuff his worth hearing |
surprised you're into that sam. mttbh i mean
I like it a lot. I didn't really think I would like black metal but I checked it out a few weeks ago and I like a lot. I tried to get into death metal but it's really not my thing. I like the minimalism and atmosphere of black metal. what i have so far: Darkthrone- transilvanian hunger, a blaze in the northern sky and under a funeral moon Burzum- S/T, hvis, filosofem Mayhem- De Mysteriis Clandestine Blaze- Falling monuments Paysage Dhiser- Kristall and Isa Vlad Tepes/Belketre- March to the black holocaust My favorite stuff out of what i have is transilvanian hunger, filosofem, de mysteriis and march to the black holocaust. If anyone has any suggestions that are like those four I'll get them.
same det som engang var is my favourite blockhead, you should give that a listen. pretty everything before his electronic stuff his worth hearing
I'll get that now. Once this is done I will have: self-titled, aske, det som, filosofem and hvis lyset. any thing else I should get besides those five? |
and belus is really good js
|
those 5 are fine
i think the s/t is a bit boring, but the rest are all recommended |
What other mayhem is good besides De Mysteriis? I really like that one but it's the only one I have.
|
Deathcrush is sweet.
Oh and maybe try Time Of Sabbath by Torgeist, it's ill. |
What other mayhem is good besides De Mysteriis? I really like that one but it's the only one I have.
I rather like Grand Declaration of War, but that's just me. |

"Chimera" is good but different. Very well produced with Maniac doing the vocals instead of Attila. Super abrasive, nasty and all around chaotic. "Ordo Ad Chao" is badly produced (the drums aren't even equalized) and has Attila from "De Mysteriis" doing the vocals. The sound is claustrophobic and the whole band will drop out and leave gaps of silence for unknown amounts of time to build tension and scare the shit out of you when they come back in. Both of these are among my favorite Black Metal albums... and the other Mayhem releases (aside from "A Grand Declaration Of War" which is awful IMO) are a given. |
getting deathcrush and grand declaration of war now. i will check those other two out next
|

I was going to mention this as well.
"A Grand Declaration Of War" which is awful IMO
You really hate it that much? I enjoy it every once in a while *shrug* |
"Grand Declaration" has some good moments but the spoken word parts kill me. I can understand why fans like the album but it never really did anything for me. "Chimera" makes that album look like child's play, once again, IMO.
|
Grand Declaration blows.
The only good post-DMDS Mayhem is Wolf's Lair Abyss |
Grand Declaration blows.
The only good post-DMDS Mayhem is Wolf's Lair Abyss
I know it's a matter of taste but "Chimera" and "Ordo Ad Chao" are SO much better than "Wolf's Lair Abyss". |
I was going to say that's the one I don't really care for.....but yea, I guess it's just a matter of taste.
|
Interesting. Never heard anyone say they prefer "AGDOW" to "Wolf's Lair".
BTW, do we have any Burzum fans on the thread that prefer Burzum to Mayhem? I like both but I much prefer Mayhem. |
saw alcest last night
they rocked |
