The See Me, Feel Me version is on The Kids Are Alright, it's very good. I can get something by the Dead soon, would you prefer psychedelia or country rock or jam or what?

drugstore cowboy 07-19-2005 05:37 PM
my favourite song was "See Me, Feel Me / Listening To You" by the who - the climax to their set that was played just as the sun rose on sunday morning.
They didn't end with See Me, Feel Me. They go into Summertime Blues directly after, I believe. The last song they played was My Generation. After Summertime Blues, on the dvd, it cuts to Pete finishing My Generation with a guitar solo. The chords he plays at the end are the chords from the guitar break in Naked Eye, and apparently that song sort of gets it's start from that moment at Woodstock.

But you're right, that moment when they just walk off stage after Pete throws the guitar, and you can see the sun peeking out over the stage, and the big booming voice says "Ladies and gentlemen...The Who". It sends a chill down my spine, especially when you take in all the factors surrounding their appearance at the festival.
And how the hell could Cliff Burton win!?

Not fair :upset:

Seafroggys 07-19-2005 05:54 PM

Yeah Naked Eye is such a good song. I love the 12/8 guitar bit in there toward the end.

And they should have ended with See Me Feel Me, that song is the ultimate closer song, next to, well, The End (either one).

robo2448 07-19-2005 05:55 PM

I should buy the Woodstock DVD. Or soundtrack.

np- John Lennon- Watching the Wheels. What a great song.

Lunch 07-19-2005 05:56 PM

It's interesting how The Who rarely closed with See Me, Feel Me though, because also in my opinion it's an amazing closer. Usually Tommy was the middle part of their show, and after the climax they would continue on with Summertime Blues or whatever until My Generation.

JonG 07-19-2005 05:57 PM

Cliff Burton mainly was voted for because he is dead. If he wasn't dead I bet he wouldn't be winning(or won).

I voted for Myung, second thoughts I wanted to vote for Squire.

Lunch 07-19-2005 05:58 PM

Squire wasn't in the most recent poll.

I like the way Live At Leeds is layed out. Actually, when I listen to it, I listen through A Quick One While He's Away, then do Tommy, then I go back to Summertime Blues and listen to the end. I like to listen to it in the order it was intended. Makes it better.

JonG 07-19-2005 06:08 PM

Oh, haha nevermind. Just got done listening to Roundabout and was for certain that he was :\

Are you saying that you prefer to have Tommy on a separate disc or have the album layed out the way it was played in concert, like on Live at the Isle of Wight?

barrett420 07-19-2005 06:13 PM
All I have is Surrealistic Pillow. I think Volunteers will be next.
After you get Volunteers get Crown of Creation it's is one of the best albums.

I like listening to it the way it was played in concert. Sorry for the confusion.

/adds Crown of Creation to wishlist.

You should pick up the Isle of Wight performance (The CD) if you don't own it already then. I plan on getting it soon even though I have the deluxe edition of Live at Leeds. The setlists are somewhat identical but there's enough variation in the song selection in my opinion to warrant me owning both of them.

I don't think I'll buy the cd, because it's just like Leeds, but I am definitely going to get the DVD eventually. Who wrote Bridge Over Troubled Water? Simon and Garfunkel or Johnny Cash? I think it was S&G, not sure though.

Lunch 07-19-2005 06:30 PM

I already own the Dvd, and it doesn't have the enitre setlist on it, which is disappointing. It covers a lot of it, but the show is out of order on the Dvd too (Tommy is the second half of it instead of being in the middle).

I don't really care if it's messed up. It's still The Who live.

Lunch 07-19-2005 06:34 PM

True, it's great to see a show of them in their prime (TKAA is great for the variety it gives you as well as the random footage of everything else, like interviews, etc.)

I'll probably get both eventually. Can't have too much Who.

Hello. I am not a classic rock nut. I'm not a led zeppelin fan. I don't listen to the who. I'm not a jimi hendrix obsessor. I listen to bands such as Radiohead, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Yo La Tengo, Primus, Rage Against the Machine, Tom Waits, The Mountain Goats, and John Frusciante. I hate to leave it at that, because there are many more artists that I enjoy and frequently listen to. But let me be the first to ask: Whats the big ****ing deal about classic rock? What makes these artists superior to modern musicians?

drugstore cowboy 07-19-2005 07:03 PM

Just for references sake, when did we say classic rock musicians were better than other musicians? You know, just so I can see what you're so angry about...

edit: Uhh, I personally like the Peppers and Frusciante, I know there are alot of Tom Waits fans in this forum...Probably a Primus fan or two. Just so you know.

Lunch 07-19-2005 07:03 PM

Usually it's not a matter of being superior musically, it's just a matter of preference and personal taste. We love classic rock, and you don't. It's as simple as that, really.

They aren't superior to all modern musicians. Some of them are, some aren't. There are plenty of good modern bands, the ones you listed included.

Some people just prefer to listen to classic rock instead of today's music. Just like some guy likes metal, but the other guy likes punk.

Get over it.

Since you used proper grammar and weren't rude, I'll answer the best I can. Personally, I really like the originality of it. I mean, it's such a broad term, for example, does Led Zeppelin sound anything like King Crimson? No. But they are both considered classic rock. Chances are that you like some classic rock. You should just give it a chance. I like how it changed everything about music, experimented with new sounds, had very meaningful lyrics (for the most part), and it all sounds original and different to me.

Lunch 07-19-2005 07:15 PM

This was a minor case of group-ownage.

TheMule 07-19-2005 07:15 PM

Obviously noone here is like the narrow minded classic rockers that I frequently come accross. I don't dismiss classic rock, and I agree that there was a lot of originality and creativity going on then, but I'd say that Radiohead is most definately at least as creative as most classic rock bands. But obviously there is a little bit of the beatles in everything. I don't have any problems with people who simply enjoy classic rock, as I enjoy classic rock as well. My problem starts when people start dismissing all other more modern bands as unoriginal or just plain inferior to their classic rock.

Those people tend to be AC/DC or Led Zeppelin n00bs and are close-minded retards. None of us regulars around here a close-minded.

I was just going to say that. That was definitely a class act all the way.

TheMule, you're right. I think when you say there's a little bit of the Beatles in everything, we can safely expand that and there's a little bit of "old" music in "new" music.

You came in looking for an argument, and instead might just have some kind of intellegent discussion. Isn't this much more fun?

Aww..but when I came in here I was expecting a bunch of "AC/DC or Led Zeppelin n00bs". Not a bunch of guys who just genuinely like classic rock. Haven't you noticed more and more led zeppelin shirts being sold in trendy stores? It seems like classic rock is becoming a fad!
