Can someone send out that Matisyahu album, jpj maybe?

Workingman's Dead is excellent. Duh :p

I'm getting Matisyahu - Live at Stubbs, it's only 8 bucks at the local Best Buy.

PinkFreud 12-19-2005 09:45 PM
So, PinkFreud, I happened to notice that 17 disc set of Dylan rarities/ live. Any chance you could upload a few of the best songs?
yeah man, i'll try. im still hand-tagging them right now since they came without tags. so i have to look off the info document and then label. haha. its tough.

i love simon and garfunkel. i havent listened to them in a while though. i used to listen to them and rap so when people asked what music i listened to i could say "rap and '60's folk." it entertained me.

Glitterati 12-19-2005 09:48 PM

We haven't discussed Skynyrd in here for so long it should be a crime

Illmatic 12-19-2005 10:06 PM
I agree with the awesomeness of A Tribe Called Quest. I wish they were still around.
I remember one site that compared hip hop artists to college football programs, and Utah got A Tribe Called Quest because they got a lot of hype with a more unorthodox and cerebral style, but they lost two important parts to the big time (Urban Meyer and Alex Smith for Utah, Q-Tip and Phife for TCQ). I dunno. Thought it was interesting.

Also, I'm really digging John McLaughlin at the moment. Amit would be proud.

Jacaranda 12-19-2005 10:23 PM
That's an interesting list. I'm actually not familiar with this listening dealy....I'm assuming the number beside the artist means the number of songs you listened to? Did you listen to 36 different Shakira songs, or just a few/several songs over and over again? I've only heard two of her songs...does she have a lot of good songs? I've also never heard Fall Out Boy before, what are they like? I like Madonna though, I can't say I've ever listened to one of her albums in entirety...but I like all her singles.

I've listened to a lot of Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Grateful Dead over the past week or so, as well as numerous other bands/artists. How do you guys know exactly what you've listened to?
I was listening to mostly Shakira's old CD (Laundry Service), which has a very good song on it called "Eyes Like Yours" she is a very good singer and sings in spanish. So thats a plus. And I just picked up her new CD a few days ago haven't listened to it yet but I'm excited. So I probably listened to 20 songs 36 times but I'm sure I listened to "Eyes Like Yours" a good number of times.
Fall Out Boy are Pop-Punk, but I'm not sure if you'd like them they get clumped in with MCR and Blink-182 alot, nothing technically good but sounds good me thinks.
Madonna, pick up her new CD now (Or download it, or I could send it to you if your interested.)! It is so catchy, and dancey I love it, good pop nothing more.
/pitches pop too much in a CR thread.

PinkFreud, I haven't listened to the Deep Purple yet I'm really bad at listening to bands when I get a new CD/MP3 because I have to have free time to sit back and listen to it and I've been sorta busy the past few days with my guitar :).

I'm might just have to try some Beatles I never even thought of them (I never think of the most obvious.) Thanks for the idea.

JonG if you ever get on Slsk in this lifetime I can send it to you.

magicbus 12-19-2005 11:13 PM

Lately I've been into The Stooges, Velvet Underground, and other stuff.
Lately I've been into The Stooges, Velvet Underground, and other stuff.
If you like those guys, check out the New York Dollssssss.

I admit to liking a few Madonna songs, like her new one. Is it odd that I think she looks really amazingly hot in that video?

np: Marquee Moon

Glitterati 12-20-2005 01:12 PM

What the hell? Post godammit!!!111!!!!

Romencer17 12-20-2005 01:16 PM

Dude it's just a thread. I don't think its odd. Or else it would be odd that some of the chicks in The Donnas are hot.

Badmoon 12-20-2005 01:26 PM
and she sings in spanish. So thats a plus.
Weird, I definitely don't look that as a plus.
I can never find my presents. I still don't know where my parents hide them.
I never try to find them, I'd rather be surprised then know several days in advance.

Anybody in here listen to the Meters?

Broken Arrow 12-20-2005 04:58 PM

Oh snap! Double dates in Toronto and its Massey Hall so ticket prices wil be fair!

Oh yeah this is about David Gilmour.

Krabsworth 12-20-2005 05:15 PM

I had the crappiest moment last night. I was thinking about how my walkman I got last Xmas was holding up so well, and then, right when I tryed to turn it on, it did't work :upset: I was trying to put Frank Zappa on too :-/

blue3 12-20-2005 05:18 PM

Heh.. that sucks. My walkman broke a really long time ago.

Krabsworth 12-20-2005 05:21 PM

I don't have an Ipod so that thing is like my left arm. (The guitar being my right)

Glitterati 12-20-2005 05:24 PM

You should get an iPod, then you could film yourself dancing to an orange background.

You know, like in the commercials.

rockinbass17 12-20-2005 05:25 PM

My walkman's cover won't close, so if I want to listen to it, I have to hold it down. My iPod also recently stopped working.

Krabsworth 12-20-2005 05:25 PM

oshi

Well my dad won $700 at an Xmas party, so he could get 3 Nanos...

JonG 12-20-2005 05:40 PM

Nano's are ripoffs :p

2gigs for 200 dollars? No thanks. But, I am getting a 30gig. Good enough for me.

MBS 12-20-2005 06:40 PM
Weird, I definitely don't look that as a plus.
Unless she's making sexual advances on me in Spanish, it's not a plus.

However....

Edit: plug? What the hell...

I recently got my iPod sent in, and they gave me a new one! :)

clown_phobia 12-20-2005 06:42 PM

I've noticed that all good music has a human drummer. Who agrees?

PinkFreud 12-20-2005 06:46 PM

haha. mines died so many times and then come back to life. mysteriously. its odd.

MBS 12-20-2005 07:09 PM

Cookie jack'd?

zabbit82 12-20-2005 07:29 PM
I've noticed that all good music has a human drummer. Who agrees?
Agreed. Theres more diverse drum sounds you can hear and work with as opposed to something getting spewed from a keyboard...

Broken Arrow 12-20-2005 07:30 PM
I've noticed that all good music has a human drummer. Who agrees?

Anyways, my iPod has never been busted but I'ver only had it nearly a year.

Woodstock 12-20-2005 07:30 PM

Hey, could someone upload the Grand Wazoo by Zappa? I heard it's very similar to Hot Rats, so I'm very interested.

Seafroggys 12-20-2005 07:31 PM

or a drum machine for that matter

Glitterati 12-20-2005 10:53 PM

That's an awesome movie. I love Vietnam War movies.

And yea, The End really worked well in that scene.

Leper 12-21-2005 12:47 AM

Well guys, it finally happened. You guys kept bringing him up over and over again, "Jeff Buckley..Jeff Buckley," and so I finally went out and found and bought "Grace."

Still haven't heard it.

Leper 12-21-2005 01:02 AM

I probably would've gotten it earlier but this time I couldn't pass it up. It was in the 3 for $30 section, so I also got my sister's Xmas gifts along with it.

PinkFreud 12-21-2005 01:08 AM
Yeah, I'm really enjoying it so far. His voice kind of reminds me of the dude from Radiohead.

Leper 12-21-2005 01:16 AM

Well of course that's what I meant...of course...but regardless, they sound alike.

Magicbus doesn't even listen to the Allman Brothers. He's an uncivilized cretin.

jpj 12-21-2005 08:27 AM

I have Apocalypse Now Redux on my Netflix queue. I can't wait till it gets here.
