Why the hell would you want another St. Anger? That was the worst album ever.

Worst album ever? No way.

But yea, I wouldn't want another St. Anger. They said this album won't be st. anger #2, so I hope they're right.
Why do bands have to talk **** to another band? wtf. I don't recall metallica bagging on some band. It's so childish and dumb. It's fine when zakk wylde flames fred durst, or somebody like that, who's just a wannabe and an untalented musician overall, but ugh, it sucks when they're doing this to metallica. Same thing when Bruce said Manowar was a sad excuse of a band. Wtf. That pissed me off. Imagine being told you suck by the band that influenced you. :upset:
Zakk Wylde calling people wannabes is hilariously ironic.

rip-metal_rules 05-28-2006 03:08 AM

Ok, I've noticed that most Metallica albums seem to follow a certain format.
Here it is:
*Keep in mind, the later albums such as Black, Load and Reload don't really follow this format, and there are some albums and songs that are exceptions.

Track 1: Usually begins with an acoustic intro, such as Fight Fire With Fire and Battery, and the song is usually fast paced(Blackened, Hit the Lights).

Track 2: The title track, a la Ride the Lightning, Master of Puppets, ...And Justice for All, St. Anger.

Track 3: The slow, heavy track. The band usually jams for a while before the singing starts, such as in For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Thing That Should Not Be, Eye of the Beholder, Some Kind of Monster.

Track 4: The Ballad. Fade To Black, Sanitarium, One, The Unforgiven I & II, Until it Sleeps, Turn the Page.

And from there...it gets sketchy, there's usually an intrumental, and a fast-paced outro track such as Damage ,Inc. or Dyers Eve.

And you don't have to say it because I'll already say it...I have way too much time on my hands....

Apocalyptic Raids 05-28-2006 03:10 AM

I have noticed that.

Jev 05-28-2006 03:15 AM

Same here but I only think it applies to RTL, MOP and AJFA.

heavy metal kid 05-28-2006 06:26 PM

FWTBT and TTTSNB are based on books, both songs are the third track on their respective albums.

Sanitarium and One are based on movies, the first one from One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest and One from Johnny Got his gun(i think). Both songs are track 4.

Bazarov 05-28-2006 06:28 PM

Yup, One is based on Johnny Got His Gun, but James said he wanted to make a song like Venom's Buried Alive, when they were making that song.

Jev 05-29-2006 06:34 AM

They didn't really suceed with that did they?

My friend and I discussed that many times about 4 years ago. We decided that it was simply coincidental.

Rattlehead 05-29-2006 12:44 PM

it might be, i dont see a reason for such an "album formula", so to speak.

Jev 05-30-2006 06:42 AM

I just think it's the way they chose to arrange them. I mean they didn't write the songs in the order the album goes, planning to make them like they were on the last album.

Huber 05-30-2006 08:04 AM

I'm listening to the Black Album (and Metallica period) for the first time in a long time. Ahhh...it's a good thing.

MRDuCran 05-30-2006 08:36 AM

I watched the St. Anger DVD today, didn't enjoy it as much as I used to.

Jev 05-30-2006 09:37 AM

I lost my one.

I'm not too upset about it...

Riva 05-30-2006 05:33 PM

The St. Anger rehearsal sessions? I liked it when I first watched it, but no real desire to do so again.

Jev 05-30-2006 05:34 PM

It's pretty damn boring. The highlight is where Kirk screws up.

It wasn't the worst album ever but its the worst in the Metallica catalogue.

I figured they would go for a different sound. St Anger got a lot of negative vibes from media, fans and press. Also, Rob is a huge fan of thrash metal so he'll probs influence the sound a little, not greatly as we know what James is like :p

Zakk didn't call him a wannabe. I did.

I'm hoping for a rap funk album.

or a thrash metal album.
Either way I'm happy.

Sadbutrue16 05-31-2006 01:13 PM

I heard album comes out in early '07.

Me neither. It would be interesting to watch the next ones though. I'm curious how they realize how far astray they went on the last album and how they're going to try and recover.

I've heard as early as the end of this year.

I would be more impressed if most of it wasn't in the same finger position. Overall, that's pretty impressive.

Bazarov 06-01-2006 01:26 AM

Yeah, Metallica is pretty nice.

HEAVY METAL KID go check out what I said in the Megadeth thread...

If there will be a next one?

I just thought it was a one-off.

F*cking hell!!! That was quality!!

I like the fact it was recorded in some sorta office, or maybe a bedroom or summin. Very casual.:p

EDIT : You're right Joe, he does use the same finger position quite a bit but its still amazing to see and hear.

Jev 06-02-2006 06:04 AM

It probably is his bedroom. He's not very rich.
