He's not as bad as the guy from Creed.
Besides, power metal isn't really a Swedish thing hun.
I don't mind Creed guy's voice. - Sonata Arctica = A7X? Dragonforce = A7X? No thanks, babe. |
Yes and no. Most people can't sit and listen to a Satriani or Vai CD all the way through because it's not the most fun to listen to usually. Their technical skills aren't holding them back, but their emphasis on them in their music is. I figure most classic rock bands have sold more records than them, and almost no classic rock musicians went to music school. Most of them revolutionized music without that education too.
I still dont know how to apply theory to any of the music I write except for the classical music. You say I'm better than you, so there ya go. No, good music is made better by a good musician adding talent in the proper dosage. Adding talent makes some stuff worse.
Most classic rock musicians had to get lessons of some sort whether it was through a teacher or a father. They definitely didn't have the resources people have had today to even be self sufficient. Even Kurt Cobain had basic guitar training through his grandfather. |
I didn't know Troy Brown is a wide out now?
|
I will listen to otherwise bleh bands because they have talent. Give me examples, phag.
How do you write lead riffs? Guess and check?
I find Dream Theater's solos don't always fit as well as say, Pink Floyd's. I don't like listening to technical music for the sake of technical. For instance, I can't stand almost any Jazz. Sort of. I know scales sort of, but not what scales. I play notes in progression until I find what I want. Usually I find the base note I want, then the next note, then play the two and try to find the next note, and find each note one at a time after playing through everything that comes before it. |
While it's on the topic of metalcore, can anyone recommend me some good bands, my pop-punk collection far outwieghs my metalcore at the moment.
|
Ohhhh, the sarcasm.
And I hate it cause they are so gay, so fake, so stupid, so full of themselves. In Due Time does rule too, and BLC is christian was well Chris, so you have to buy their stuff too!!!
He wasn't being sarcastic, methinks. I've been looking for In Due Time's newest album for a while. I find Capital Tragedy is better if I want breakdown + Breakdown + Breakdown = Music. They aren't just empty breakdowns (like "Chug chug chug. Chug), but full, complete, awesome ones ("Chug chug chug NENENE NANANA!") http://www.hxcmp3.com/bands/28/index.php The band is ****, seriously. |

Metalcore like actual metalcore or metalcore thats basically break downs + hardcore/metal or metalcore with some melody? |
I don't mind Creed guy's voice.
- Sonata Arctica = A7X? Dragonforce = A7X? No thanks, babe.
Ew, it's terrible. Nope, but nor are they Swedish. You said they went to music school, there's a huge difference. Seriously, stick to your point and then admit defeat when I prove you wrong rather than change arguments. |

What kind of metalcore are you looking for? Metal with breakdowns? (stuff like As I Lay dying, for instance) 50% Metal 50% hardcore? (Eh...I can't think if any popular examples.) Technical Metalcore? (Between The Buried And Me or something) |

I don't think anyone considers them metalcore but everyone loves Poison the well. |

Dead to fall, Converge, Into the Moat... I don't think anyone considers them metalcore but everyone loves Poison the well.
Into The Moat is tech metal. You add a core because of the breakdowns, silly. I don't listen to Converge. I want to try one of their remastered albums though. |
ok, look Jon, the new Agony Scene is not that bad!!!
and yeah, TTEOTD is pretty sweet, but lesser known. And how could I forget It Dies Today!!! Maybe a bit generic, yes, but hella fun, definitely. |
Yeah the It Dies Today vocalist is a cutie.
|
Jon, I have some Converge if you want it... I don't think they are remastered though. I'm not too sure.
|

You haven't heard of every band I listed, get them. Get A Kiss Farewell. I garuntee you haven't heard of them (Unless Chris mentioned them behind my back). They have a hxcmp3. |
