Dio completely owned Ozzy on that CD.I mean,Paranoidīs always made me feel a bit queesy(cause it sucks so bad...) but Dio actually made it sound listenable.Proves what a good singer can do.Live Evil also has the best version of Black Sabbath Iīve ever heard, and thatīs counting Vaderīs which is just plain wicked.
You should hear Gillan sing Black Sabbath, it's the best version I've heard imo. He uses that patented scream he has which he also uses in Child in Time. |
*drool*
Whereīd you find that? |
It was only a sample, you can get it here: http://home.swipnet.se/sabbath83/
then go to miscellaneous. Also I know a website to get live bootlegs. I personally dont have any but the range covers every line-up even Ray Gillan. Thats here: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/sabbath141/index.html |
Gillan has an amazing voice, I have a few live versions of Child in Time and they're spine-chillingly brilliant.
I have a version of War Pigs by him somewhere, and a Black Sabbath version of Smoke on the Water. |
Is the Black Sabbath version of smoke on the water very different or basically the same?
|
Pretty much the same, I'll upload it later.
|
What's everyones favourite Sabbath album? I'd have to go for Vol. 4.
|
Yes Vol 4 is a classic and one of my favourites. My favourite songs are Megalomania, Hole in the Sky and Symptom of the Universe so even though i don't own sabatage i'm going with that album.
|
I'm torn between Vol.4, Heaven and Hell, Never Say Die, Live Evil, Sabotage and TYR as my fave. album.
I can't choose :( // Smoke on the Water (live) hxxp://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=2JP8SJ8SLZNQW0H5FTLAY27OMK I wonder what Ritchie thought of this version... |

Nice! Child in Time is my all time favorite vocal performance. Awesome guitar solo, too. I've heard that Sabbath version of Smoke on the Water, its a bit too similar for my taste. |

Black Sabbath rules
|
Your not wrong mate, so do S.O.A.D :)
|
To the guy asking about the name of the Sabbath song, its ''Embryo''.
|
Im going to get Born Again on the weekend and possibly Rainbow's rising album. Hey brum do you have 7th Star?
|
Not yet, I have the song 7th Star though :)
Rising is an amazing album. |
What's everyones favourite Sabbath album? I'd have to go for Vol. 4.
Black Sabbath for me, although Headless Cross is pretty damn good |
Not yet, I have the song 7th Star though :)
Rising is an amazing album.
Ive heard its their best, it also has cozy on it, Id like more albums with him. |
What's everyones favourite Sabbath album? I'd have to go for Vol. 4.
SBS. Paranoid has a bunch of my favorite songs (War Pigs, Fairies Wear Boots, Planet Caravan) but the album as a whole doesn't measure up. I'm not the biggest fan of Volume 4 either although I love a lot of the songs on it. Least favorite album is Technical Ecstacy. This is only referring the albums I have, which is all the Ozzy-era ones. I've also heard Heaven and Hell about once. |
SBS do you mean sabbath bloody sabbath?
|
:sigh: Fourth page again. Well anyway, I got Born Again today. I couldnt find Rainbow's Rising though, but I did get Heaven and Hell :D
I havnt heard Born Again yet but I have heard Heaven and Hell. Truly awesome album, every single track is great. I don't care that it doesn't sound like ozzy, it's incredible. Particularly the title track. |
i only have the title track from heaven on hell on sabbath's "best of", i've been meaning to get that but alas i havn't
any of you guys seen the film trick or treat? it's awesome it has ozzy doing a guest appearence telling the evils of rock music |
No, whats the movie about?
Well in other news, I got round to listening to Born Again. Really good album except the last three tracks are really weak. |
It's about this guy whos rock hero (played by gene simmons) dies and he has one of the only copies of the last album ever made and it talks to him when he plays it backwards, then using it he tries to get his own back on some jocks that always pick on him but then , the record starts killing people when the dead rock star comes back to life (well kind of comes back to life) so the kid has to find a way to stop him before everyones dies a horrible death
|
lol, sounds cheap and corny.
|

It is but it's piss funny |
Pretty much what I think of the album.
If you think the album version of Heaven and Hell kicks arse, you should hear the Live Evil version...
I will be getting Live Evil right after I get Mob Rules. What do you think of Mob Rules? Also is Dio any good at doing the ozzy era songs? |
Get Live Evil first, its better than Mob Rules.
Mob Rules is a good album, but not quite as hard hitting as Heaven and Hell. Dio does a great job on the Ozzy era songs, it takes a little while to get used to those versions though. |
After listening to Born Again and Heaven and Hell repeateadly (I also put my other non-ozzy ones on). I got to thinking, which is my favourit sabbath era, ozzy or non-ozzy, I couldn't decide. What's your opinions?
|
They're all so different its hard to choose. I'd say late-Ozzy-early-Dio era is my fave (from Sabotage to Live Evil)
// I got bored and went insane with uploads in the YSI thread last night... http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9481820&postcount=4846 |
Bloody hell that is alot of uploads, im gonna get some
|
Go for it, it'd be a shame if they were only downloaded once.
|
How long did it take to upload them all?
|
30mins+
I was bored. |
Hey brum you wouldnt happen to have any rare Ian Gillan tour stuff apart from Smoke On the Water would you?
|
http://www.big-boys.com/articles/therawker2.html
im not sure if this has been been posted but its pretty funny. |
Well this is dieing off, AGAIN. Ill try starting a new topic. Discuss Geezer's bass playing.
|
Geezer's playing is very doom-y sounding, like a giant black cloud is floating overhead.
|
Hehe that is so true. I personally love it how his bass playing is included in songs so much more than most bands, in some remasterings it gets its own speaker channel. Its almost as if its a second ordinary guitar. And he deserves it he really is one of the better ones out there.
