Weezer - Pinkerton
Jefferson Airplane - Surrealistic Pillow
- This is a fantastic album. Picked it up on LP for $4 today and I'm amazed. It's a brilliant collection of folky, psychedelic pop songs. Absolutely terrific. Anyone have suggestions on where to go from this album?
You do realise that all metal vocalists don't sound like Kyuss right?
Yes. But I'm just saying that I don't like that type. Like Metallica for example, yuck!

Little Man being Erased 05-26-2005 08:45 PM

I just got my first taste of NoMeansNo today, thanks to the FL thread. Wow, just wow.

Ah yeah, many praises to Zappa for that one. Right?

Anyway, "Close to the Edge" is a fuckin' amazing song. I was also amazed at how good "Time of the Season" by The Zombies is. I never paid attention to it much before because it was just another classic rock staple to me, but I guess a lot of raving about it got me more intrigued.

Little Man being Erased 05-26-2005 09:35 PM

Yep, big props to the Zap man.

I Was A Kaleidoscope 05-27-2005 12:23 AM

I've been listening to a lot of Sufjan Stevens today.

Yeah I don't like Hetfield's vocals that much. Kyuss and Melvins have gooc vocals though and they are slightly similar.

myiaa 05-27-2005 09:13 AM

I've been listening to This Song Is A Mess But So Am I, Add N To (X) and 14 Year Old Girls a lot recently.

Bukowski 05-27-2005 09:53 AM

I just can't stop listening to Mew's album, Frengers.

It's an amazing listen. I can't understand how this band don't get the attention they deserve.

Smackers 05-28-2005 07:03 AM

Meshuggah and The Holy Vehm today.

Rejd 05-28-2005 07:57 AM

The Arcade Fire - The Funural
Antony and the Johnsons - I am a bird now,
listen to Antony's "The Lake" too.

Also: I've never really taken any interest in The Allman Brothers, but then I was at a friends house the other day and we were watching a Frank Zappa concert on DVD, and he did a cover of an Allman Brothers song which I thought was great, so he put on the original, from the album "Beginnings". It was kind of great and we forgot about the concert...

Tomahawk 05-28-2005 08:47 AM

Listened to Little Earthquakes by Tori Amos for the first time today. Little bit disappointed. Half of the songs are great (great!), but the other half are just there. Not quite filler, but nothing remarkable either. It's still a good album, it just doesn't really kick my ass.

Also been digging Afghan Whigs, who always kick my ass. Specifically been listening to Black Love and 1965, both of which are pretty darn awesome.

Other than that I've been listening to Black Flag, Vanessa Carlton, Patty Griffin, and Sly & the Family Stone.

Bukowski 05-28-2005 01:24 PM

I've listened to a ton of punk today. Especially Rise Against, Leftover Crack, Propagandhi, and AFI.

biografiend 05-28-2005 02:00 PM

Today:
Flaming Lips-Soft Bulletin (I'm thinking that its better than YBTPR)
Blur-Think Tank

Happymeal 05-28-2005 06:03 PM

For the past few days it's been Against Me and Strung Out, with some Mare, Jesu and Cult of Luna. Today I'm making an effort to listen to Iron and Wine and Bonnie "Prince" Billy.

Well other than me being heavily into Tool atm,
I downloaded the Sonic Youth album 'Goo' and i think it's really really good.
I've also been listening to The Smiths, The Cure (I jus re-discovered them) and Elliott Smith.
Oh and Pink Moon by Nick Drake. Must admit I'm quite into A Perfect Circle at the mo too.

Wanker 05-28-2005 07:20 PM

My friend from school sent me a song by a band called "Out Hud" and it's pretty good. I guess the members of the band include people from !!!.

I think that's one of the bands that !!! dudes were in before !!!. I could have completely made that up, I don't know.

Anyway.

Nas - Illmatic
Modest Mouse - Good News (sacrilege, I know)
Red Sparowes - At the Soundless Dawn

I Was A Kaleidoscope 05-28-2005 08:44 PM

Out Hud is quite good. I like S.T.R.E.E.T D.A.D.

I'm getting back into +/- (Plus Minus). I got their album 'You Are Here' imported from the US as one of my Christmas presents.

Bartender 05-28-2005 08:51 PM

Fastball - All The Pain Money Can Buy
The Levellers - Mouth to Mouth
CKY - Infiltrate Destroy Rebuild

It's been a kind of "albums I know aren't that great but I rather like anyway"-day.
