Has anyone ever heard of "at the gates"? I'm gonna go buy slaughter of the soul today, or could anyone advise some better albums?

NP: American high- Machine Head.

At The Gates is meh. Plus they helped inspire alot of these new American metal acts as you can easily tell the influence, which doesn't really help their reputation among some metalheads heh.

Slaughter of the Soul is their most well known album, and it's not bad if you like that Gothenburg sound. Also it has a clear and clean production and the sound is more full on SotS. Their other albums a bit more raw in sound and don't sound as full, but they are usually found superior.

What I've heard of at the gates like "suicide nation" Is really original, and the guitar tone in that song blew me away. mainly because anyother band would not be able to pull that tone off, simply because of the sheer rubbishness of it :p

Slaughter of the Soul is a good introduction to the band, so it will be a good album for ya.

And they did help pioneer the Gothenburg sound, so of course they should sound a little unique heh. It's just the amount of bands after them that ripped off their riffing style that has made their sound stale to some.

And for the genre that C&C fit into, they do make some decent music as it has some substance behind not only in the insturmental section but the whole idea of their story/comic book thing as well.

Not something I would listen to all the time, but once in awhile is enough for me.

Both are great bands, but I would get Slaughter of the Soul. If you like "Suicide Nation", you'll love the rest of the cd. If you have enough cash, I would say get both.

We'll I created a list of about 40 and broke it up. The majority (about 12) went to my parents. The rest went to my sister, cousins, Uncles/Aunts and grandparents. I don't want a repeat of last christmas. A "NOW" (forgot which number) Cd and an itchy cotton sweater, among a variety of odd gifts.

'sup community thread. it's my work's christmas party in 2 hours :) free drink and 4 course meal, should be great. and then probably a hangover for school tomorrow lol.

meh, can't find any obvious work to do...only 3 days of school before the holidays anyway :). but 4 out of my 5 lessons between now and then are tomorrow :(.

At work, a Very hot girl, and I mean really superhot, is packing bags at my till to raise money from donations to go on a school visit to Honduras in July...we get talking and I make her laugh a hell of alot, and am all charming and my usual self :p
and she asks for my number at the end of my shift ...so she gets my Number and email address.
