Its friggin awesome. A friend of mine only listens to Schizoid Man from it which is bloody annoying considering the awesomeness of the rest of the album.

I prefer [I]In The Wake Of Poseidon[/I] and [I]Lark's Tongue In Aspic[/I] to [I]In The Court Of The Crimson King[/I].

I can't really get into King Crimson too much. They're alright I suppose, but I'm not a huge fan of prog rock beyond Rush and Floyd, and Floyd is sort of like prog rock-lite.

I bought an Echoes tab book from Guitar Center the other day. It's got all the songs from their greatest hits album, so I'm gonna try learning them now. Only problem is I suck at guitar. They didn't have any bass tab books there so I had to settle for guitar.

And don't worry Matty, I suck at guitar also. The only Floyd I can play are songs with simple chords like [b]Fearless[/b], [b]Breathe[/b], and basically everything off The Wall and The Final Cut.

I can play some of Syd's stuff, since it's a lot easier. Other than that, about the only Floyd songs I can play on guitar are Wish You Were Here and Mother. I could probably play some others, but eh, guess I'll find out.

I can play the rhythm to Have A Cigar and some of the Money solo, that's it.

I wanna learn Shine On You Crazy Diamond but I'm too lazy.

I got half way thorugh the solos in SOYCD about a year ago and gave up through laziness. I can basically improvise it now (I've improved a bit) but I still don't know it for sure.

Some of Syd's stuff is fun and easy. [b]Lucifer Sam's[/b] fun to play :smoke:

Shine on is easy...the only hard part is getting the bends to the right note...and getting enough feel into it, like Gilmour does.

Anyone learnt Time? Any tips on getting the timing right at the start?

I learned it, it is tricky getting those first notes, open string and that. What I do is count the clock ticks, its like a metronome really, once you pay attention to the ticks it should be easy enough. :thumb:

The most fun thing I learned from Floyd is the pulse version of Comfortably Numb getting that solo down was tricky, but so entirely worth it.
On the Turning away is great to play also, and Wish you Were Here is compulsory to learn for any Floydian imo

I got The Wall tablature book for my birthday last year. I like playing the songs that they play on a classical nylon string guitar. Songs like [I]Is There Anybody Out There? [/I]and [I]Vera[/I]. To be honest, I think that [I]Vera[/I] is and underrated song off of the album. It's pretty good if you understand who the hell Roger is talking about.

:lol: I was reading an in depth look at The Wall and I learned this. Vera Lynn in the movie version of The Wall plays a little part in the beginning. In the very beginning at the hotel, her song [I]The Boy That Santa Forgot[/I] is playing. Apparently that's supposed to be a little precedent to the rest of the story.

Its funny im such a big fan but ive never bothered apart from Time. I might give Vera a go though, I love that song. And itll help my acoustic playing. Might even give Mother a go.

[i]Is There Anybody Out There?[/i] is an awesome song. That pretty bit right at the end, good stuff.

So the classic rock station here is playing their entire music library in alphabetical order, it should take about 3 weeks or so. They just started today, so they're still on A's....I've been listening for [I]Arnold Layne[/I] or [I]Astronomy Domine,[/I] and I think they should be coming up soon, if they even have them.

In the guitar class that I took at school one year, I learned from this wonderful classical guitar teacher. I learned a lot of playing skills from him, technique wise. That's when I learned acoustic songs like [I]Is there anybody out there?[/I], [I]Vera[/I], and [I]Goodbye Blue Sky. Goodbye Blue Sky [/I]is one of my favorites off the album.

Vera isn't really that hard except for the bridge right before the chords and right after Roger sings "...we would meet again, some sunny day".

I like playing Breathe because it has the same chords as Neil Young's Down By the River, so you can drift back and forth between the two. It's really fun.

I wish I was better at guitar, but my fingers are too fat and clumsy for those tiny frets and there's too many strings. I can solo alright on a guitar, but chords get me all befuddled.

Bass is where it's at, yo.

I'd say i'm alright at guitar and bass, but I will always prefer my bass over my guitar.

I've actually hardly played my bass lately. I've been playing a lot of guitar, and I'm slowly getting a little better I suppose.

If only air guitar counted....

Yeah, I kind of started both bass and guitar at the same time. I'm okay on guitar, but I never try and get better. Every so often I'll challenge myself and I'll work and I'll just get better as a result.

I started on guitar, went to bass, loved bass, then kind of lost time to focus on either instrument.

:cool: That's shweet. The only Floyd I hear on the radio at work would be the absolute hits (of which there aren't many, am I right?) and SOYCD is always badly edited :(

I wish a station here was ballsy enough to do that.

So the night passed with no Arnold Layne or Astronomy Domine, and I am dejected. So now I'm hoping for Interstellar Overdrive or See Emily Play, but I'm pretty sure neither will be played.

The station here plays their big hits, plus a few others. I've heard Great Gig and One Of These Days and Mother. They also play On An Island every now and then. I really wish they'd play SOYCD or Echoes, although maybe it's best they dont, since they would be so heavily edited.

There is one station here which is pretty adventurous and I've heard them play [b]Time[/b], [b]Brain Damage[/b], [b]Us and Them[/b] (with [b]Any Colour You Like[/b] still attached at the end) and even [b]SOYCD[/b] unedited (!!!) but they're not a very popular station. It's my favourite, though. Actually, they play Floyd almost daily.

Every other station just plays them in a countdown or something - or just [b]Another Brick In the Wall pt2[/b] :p

The station here is pretty good, it's pretty much the only station I listen to. They've got a decent variety of Floyd songs played daily, plus they play Zeppelin and Tull and Rush and Skynyrd. What more could anyone need?

We just recently got a station that one played Kashmir and Enter Sandman. Ok sure to you americans that might mean nothing but to me who lives in cultural wasteland Australia it means alot.

So I'm watching The Departed, and they used the version of comfortably numb from waters' berlin production of the wall, the one with van morrison singing.

I think it works quite well, and I like like morrison, but I'm not sure whether his voice really fits the song =/. Still, a good song nonetheless.
