I shall see Star Wars when it comes out. I haven't seen a movie since the second one, because I'm just lazy and that was an excuse for me to get a ride there. I'll probably see Hitchhiker first.

I heard Hitchiker was decent but a hobbible adaptation from the book, apparently alot of the good jokes were cut out, and some were even seemingly edited to make them less funny. And they did a copout on Zaphod's head, he only has one but one appears in his throat when he's angry or something similer

Douglas Adams wrote the script before he died though so it can't be that bad.

They changed it ALOT, and they still used some of his origional ideas on the visuals (made for 80's special effects, hence the heads thing). His acctual script which was more or less the book in script form (it wasn't hard to keep time down, as the book was based apon a 2-hour radio broadcast by the BBC - at least the first one) is the Hitcthhiker's play which you could see in England for a while.

They've been plaing the TV adaption on one of the channels here, but I keep forgetting to watch it.

I'm watching poker also. Some guy just got pocket queens going all in and this girl called with aces and queens and there was an ace in the flop and he pretty much got jewed

T.V. adaption isn't very good, the only things really worth looking at are the books, the radio broadcasts, and the play, and perhaps the movie.

This guy went all in with eight, nine hearts as he had nothing left and ended up coming up with a straight flush beating some dude with three 10s.

And even if you have crap luck, good bluffing can get you through. The other night some guy with Queen high beat a pair of kings.

Anyone seen Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels? Theres a cool poker scene in the beginning of that movie. At one point he can tell if a guy's bluffing if his pupils get bigger, cool as hell. But he loses cause the other guy was cheating with a mini-camera, and ends up owing like 500,000 quid. Great movie too.

I just told that guy asking for punk with no cussing to download L.A.X. :)

And just for the record only the new Star Wars sucks, although admittedly the new movies have spawned some cool video games.

nowhereamn , is that Orwell book you recomended (in the post nick deleted) good? My friends has been reading it for several months but hasn't finished it so I can read it. I know it's about the Spanish Civil War, it seems interesting.

Yeah it is really good, I only got it two days ago and I'm probably going to finish it tonight. I really loved Animal Farm and 1984, but I acctually like this one even better. Its really good, and he seems to give a fairly unbiased account of the war as well.

Its basically his account of being enlisted in the Lenin Brigade, part of the P.O.U.M. (independant marxists, communists but anti-stalin). It records his time on the front fighting fascists, in Barcelona when the fights between the civil guard and the anarchists broke out, of his wounding in battle, and of his fleeing the country after the P.O.U.M. was outlawed.

He also has 2 chapters explaining the political side and explaining the various factiones, etc, but he urges you to skip them.
